"worship" is not about music, instrumental or otherwise. Worship is an attitude, a way of life; a condition of the heart and soul being acted out in humilty and prostration before the Lving God.. Worship in the old testament: to - "depress, that is, prostrate (especially reflexively in homage to royalty or God): - bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship." 'worship' in Genesis 22:5. - in Psalm 29:2; Psalm 66:4; and in most other places. This was what Abraham did. And we are meant to be children of faithful Abraham. He is supposed to be our father in the faith, but do we do this in the public meeting, fall down before the Living God? Worship in new testament: - to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s hand); to fawn or crouch to, that is, (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore): - worship. found in Matthew 2:2; 4:10; John 4:23, 24 and in many other places. When the people came tpo worship Jesus Christ they actually fell down before Him or kneeled down before Him in humility. Very little is said about music being involved in 'worship' of God Almighty. True worship before God has ben reeplaced by our own activity, and musical abilities, and performances. Many churches today just no longer worship God in the beauty of holiness, being still and quiet before His Majesty. Where is the reading of the word of God at a worship service? NG talsk about worship being a way of life, but in the next breath he talks about prayer and worship - as if prayer is not worship. And that comes from a very high profile minister of the Anglican church. We have made 'worship' to become a musical experience, without which we just don't know how to or won't, worship God. Musical instruments have become the focus. Truly we worship our worship, our music. Is this kind of worship is done is spirit and in truth according to the gospel of Jesus Christ? Prayer is meant to be part of worship. Bible reading is meant to be part of the process of worship. Preaching and listening to sound doctrine is meant to be part of the process of worship. Oh yes, we mean well. But we have come a long way away from the biblical understanding of 'worship'. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, let those who calim to be His come back to biblical worship, and kneel down before Him; bow down before Him; fall down before Him in the meeting place, by our own volition, choice, deliberate and humble action - in truth and in spirit. This is not to say that musical instruments do not have a place in a meeting of the saints of God; but they are not the main thing. But let us have more of the reading of God's word and less of music. Is there one hand...anyone...anywhere...who will be so bold. We have 15 minutes, or 40 minutes or more of music, and only about 3 minutes of reading the Scriptures - if that! No wonder the church is trying new methods, new gimmmicks, new ideas, to get more people in the 'house'. Let us search our hearts and mend our ways, and return to the Lord and His way..
You are dead right. Many church services today are nothing more than spiritualist rock concerts with entertainment and religious therapy thrown into the mix
