It's not the only corny expression in our language. When we say boyfriend/girlfriend in our language, we say "kæreste", which means dearest.

I can also see how it might be confusing to anyone unfamiliar with it, especially after translating it into English as a kind of porridge. However, maybe you should complain to the bakery, because it seems like they're the ones calling it rødgrød med fløde.

I get why 'skat' seem like it means 'darling/love'. But basically saying 'thanks, baby' for bringing them the menu seems a bit overkill hahhah
