"Do you want a happier ending for Kai'Sa and Taliyah?" The analytic side: Honestly, no. That was a beautifully told -fanfiction- story and having Kai'Sa survive would severely downplay her sacrifice. The child in me who never stopped wanting happy endings in every single piece of media he sees: YES *PLEASE* 🌵
You talk about doing "What's the deal with Skin X?", but... how about doing a "What's the deal with Skin *Line* X?". I think that would allow you to do deeper dives into the aesthetics of a skin line and what they're trying to do with it, as well as how successful they are at doing it. 🌵
I like this idea. What's worth considering is also how the skin line evolved over time, star guardian for example has 4-5 iterations, each a bit different from the previous sets
Got your solution and a happy ending to boot fam. End credits we see the battle Field empty and destroyed one small void rift opens up revealing kassadin, witnessing what happened throughout the battle he rift walks into the void where the little remains of the death of bel Velth leave parts of her victims slowly difting in the void after what felt like an eternity of scavenging he find her broken but grasping for life only alive due to her suit. There happy ending 😄
🌵She asks Kai'Sa if it would make her more comfortable if she untransformed and put on her disguise. I think that she sees herself as a somewhat savior of the human race and the head is a way to make them more "comfortable" so they can aid with her plan to defeat The Watchers. She doesn't really want to consume reality like the other Voidborn she wants to *become* reality. She despises all of the other Voidborn because of the fact that they want to consume reality and end "her" world. She loves this world, "her" world. The rest of The Void creatures despise this world and want to end it due to its severe nuisance to their reality. I love that she's *almost* like the other Voidborn but also so so different.
:cactus: There's a theory I had regarding Kai'Sa that makes her somewhat similar to Bel'Veth (and Zyra, if I recall her latest lore correctly, though for all I know that's since been retconned after the Ixtal update): Rather than a human who inexplicably merged with a symbiotic voidling and managed to survive in purple hell with perfect makeup; she's actually the voidling itself, who ate a little girl called Kaisa a decade ago and after inheriting the child's memories, she became convinced that she *is* Kai'Sa. She's able to survive without starving by feasting upon rotting produce, other voidborn, lost travellers, anything that would serve as sustenance. A human couldn't possibly survive off of such things, so the mind adapts - in her eyes, the carrion she devours is merely something as harmless as "Peaches", a strong memory that she inherited of the human's favourite food, even though logically any stray fruit that had by some miracle not been devoured would have rotted away after 10 years, and no peach tree could grow in the caverns without sunlight or water. Other humans, Taliyah excluded, don't mistake her for a monster - they see her for the monster that she is, a human-shaped abberation from the depths with an uncanny facade crafted to resemble a person, or rather, what Kai'Sa thinks a person is supposed to look like. Perhaps she means no harm to those unfortunate enough to cross her path, but when they inevitably act hostile towards her, clearly no human would ever dare to fight another human so they must have been corrupted by the void and therefore must be neutralised for her own safety. If she ends up finding a large pile of "Peaches" immediately after, that's clearly just a lucky coincidence, and it would be foolish to let good food go to waste.
Oh god it can actually make sense (due to the fact that she feels like a Native ingame and even in the card game... also she cant remember even his Father's face... Yes Kassadin is almost Faceless now but surely he still looks like Kai'sa's dad...)
The idea of her being designed as internally contradictory is actually a really interesting take. And yes, fanfiction from you would be great! I still have fond memories of your Olaf & Soraka story, I really enjoy your creative work and narrative. You've got that skill of conveying raw emotion through your writing 🌵
🌵🌵 i think belveth could go in a path where she develops empathy... for her fellow void champeons recruting them and developing into a true empres, that exist only for her empire and her people an empire and people who see the rest of the universe as resoirces for themselves could even add weird and cute moments like bonding with rek sai over creating void mineons, that way you can give the rest of the void champeons more character by giving them a chance to interact with each other
sounds nice, like a sort of isolationist kingdom. though i am pretty sure Rek'sai is incapable or coherent thought that is more than insect level. still love her, first queen.
The problem here is that belveth inherently is still just a monster, all the void monsters know that, yes a teamed up void would be strong but i could only see a big chogath doing that than belveth
🌵🌵🌵 I think an interesting way you could do a good ending for the Kai’sa death would be if Kai’sa was reborn in the lavender sea, assimilated with her suit and even more “monstrous” than before. Her face is barely recognizable, like her second skin has been meshed with her own, but even though she’s even less human than before, her sacrifice and all it’s emotional meaning has retained her humanity. Anyways lavender sea starts to collapse and Kai’sa books it outta there and reaches the surface through a Xer’Sai tunnel where she finds the aftermath of Bel’veth’s defeat. Soldiers are kneeling, the ascended are calmed, everyone is in mourning, and in the middle of it all is Taliyah, weeping. Normally Kai’sa would slink off into the background, but this is Taliyah, her friend, so Kai’sa blocks out everything around her and rushes to her side. From everyone else’s perspective a strange voidborn had just attacked the rock girl, but from Taliyah’s perspective, she sees her friend Kai’sa, and hugs her (or kisses her if it’s June and Riot corporate lets them be queer) and real Corpse Bride-like, those who died in the battle, their remains fade into a swarm of void butterflies that circle Kai’sa and Taliyah, and the camera pans up to the sky where it ends with happily ever after.
Hey man I just thought you should know I would fight off eighteen mountain lions in an abandoned Arby's to have you and T B Skyen on the writing team at Riot.
I really like the perspective of her presenting herself as more than a void monster as it makes the dichotomy of her story and gameplay more clear. In-game she's dashing around, frantically slapping and stabbing everything, not unlike other void champions. The entirety of her character is making more sense. 🌵
I can't help it, though Bel'Veth is pretty scary in the lore, I can't see her monster form as anything other than cute. Even her expression at the end of her reveal trailer just looks like a :D face with some "curious animal" thrown into the mix. If a story really does reveal that her regal demeanor is just a facade trying to hide her own insecurities, I'll never be able to see her in a serious light again. Which, you know, I'm cool with, she'd still make a compelling villain. Just one that I'd like to keep in my aquarium and make tiny hats for.
This was a really interesting look at Bel'veth, I never really noticed until this video how inconsistent her dialogue and actions were, so it was really fun as always to hear your thoughts on the matter 🌵
I KNEW there was something unsettling me about Bel'Veth's dance animation! Thank you for taking the time to slow down the model and explain why that kind of "lag-less" smooth motion raises the brain's eyebrows, metaphorically. 🌵
🌵Bel’veth reminds me of Raboniel from The Stormlight Archive series. They’re both supremely confident, and as such give seemingly everything away immediately. They both offer the same bargain: “I have already won, so do what I say and you may earn enough time to maybe kill me”. And they’re both kind of rebels in their own faction, working with the same actions but towards opposite goals. 🌵
i like the idea of humans corrupting the void, maybe instead of developing empathy, she becomes more arrogant and greedier, she starts to embrace the worst parts of humanity as part of herself, and at the end, those human traits end up being the reason why she is defeated. edit: i forgot the 🌵
🌵🌵 I love the idea of Kai'Sa's instinctual sacrifice being the ultimate downfall of Bel'Veth. While it is tragic, it comes off as a sacrifice that isn't there JUST to be sad to tug at the audience's heartstrings. Kai'Sa's character in essence is physical proof that humanity can survive the void. That humanity is able to survive the mindless hunger of the hivemind that is the void. Kai'Sa's essence, her memories, her *humanity* being absorbed by Bel'Veth proving to be her defeat as a void monster that fundamentally does not understand humanity fully, makes perfect sense to me.
🌵I’m so happy that you covered Bel’Veth in one of these videos. I would love to see your take on a happy ending with Kai’sa and Taliyah (bonus points if you include Chip in that somehow). One idea I had for the happy ending is that all the human emotion rushing inside Bel’Veth causes her human side to overwhelm her void side, and she dissolved into all the people she consumed, freeing not only Kai’sa but all the people who drowned in the Lavender Sea. I do acknowledge that that may be a bit too much but it’s my happy ending dammit!
@@Mediados not anymore with this story though. If they write something like that about her I'm 100% down having her become new lux level simping from RIOT
one thing i noticed when playing as belveth is that all of her animations ingame have the animation physics that things like aurelion sols tail has, where movements ingame move her wings with realistic motions. that might cover up a lot of the jankiness of her animations, except for her dance when she is locked in place
Man you are so good at your job, just the first 6 minutes into the video describing what's the void just sold me completely, I always look forward to the longest videos of you every single time
I think that your "ending" of Bel'veth's story is fantastic, and it'd be the best ending, if only Kassadin were there and managed to sacrifice himself for Kai'sa instead of Kai'sa for Taliyah. 🌵
🌵 That whole "Becoming more human reverse vampire" thing you mentioned was the first thing I thought of when I first read Pinwheel. She has so many thematic parallels to Meruem from HunterXHunter that I just loved the Idea. Also, I know Riot would never do this since there can never truly be an ending to any champion's lore, but I'd love it if the nail in the coffin that changes her and makes her humanity fully take over, is Kai'sa's suit. What if it sacrifices itself to save Kai'sa and its memories and its evolution through its "bond" (in both senses of the word) to her are what do the trick. what if it is what makes Bel'veth realize that even the void could act on love if it decides it wants to. It could be her Komugi.🌵
I think the way you review, breakdown and sometimes reimagine character design, animation or stories is just amazing. This is another great video and I always look forward to your next one.
This was a really fun analysis! I love to hear your fanfic style stories about the characters since you know so much about their lore and the world, so I'd of course be happy to see more. And, of course, 🌵.
A lot of people were very quick to write bel'veth off as "Sexy female void champion with face = bad design" which I think is a bummer. Despite her not being a perfect design, she has unique things about her and provides a few steps in the right direction for modern day champion design. Plus what she adds to the lore is genuinely compelling in my opinion. It just sucks that the majority of the community only really knows how to give negative feedback and nothing positive.
You absolutely kill it with that story/ narration segment in the video, every single time. I would watch the hell out of a series where you dramatically read stories that you have written.
I am so excited to see this full character breakdown. I was so excited when I first saw Bel'veth's character design. Also, edit for a nerdy moment: There is a region in the brain called the "fusiform face area" that serves only to recognize "face shaped stuff." We humans are so pre-set to look at faces that is it part of our default species brain layout.
Loved your description and opinion of Be'Veth. This was such a welcome change as a monster champion and I loved her concept since the teasers began🌵. I'm excited to see how/If they progress her story arc and what it would spell for the development of other characters you mentioned( Lissandra, Jax, Zilean etc)🌵. I'd find it amazing if they give us an Endgame like conclusion such as the one you speak of but one can hope😅🌵. Lastly, yes I'd dearly love if even in your version of the story, Kai'sa doesn't combust into atoms and instead has more positive ending ( A long-overdue reconciliation with her father perhaps🥲😅🌵)
I think another interesting way to defeat Bel’veth would be for the hero’s to try and have the void destroy her for them. Perhaps by the watchers, since the void describes her as a sort of “cancer,” or “Mutation.” A voide creature that instead of wanting to destroy reality, seeks to creat her own.
They could also go 'the Fear Route' with her character: As she absorbs more and more and develops into an organism of her own, she begins feeling entitled to existence, whereas before she was just an unmoving part of the Void which isn't alive the same way she is now. With that comes a fear of "death" that begins to slowly override the code created by "the Void in her". And then maybe at the end she has moved from logic to emotion much in the same way humans often do. Some stuff would need to be thought out better (especially since I don't really know the Void lore) but it's a cool base idea.
I like your pitch for the ending. If you were going to continue it/ write an epilouge I would love to hear your thoughts on how Kassadin might play a role in everything. 🌵
Skyen, please DO write more fan fiction and DO share them with us. The last fanfic with Olaf and Soraka really got me hooked :D so I would love to see your version of dramatic void end game and Bel'veth discovering empathy
The Fanfic section is quickly becoming my favorite of this series, you deliver EVERY TIME!!! And yes, I need the happy version of Taliyah and Kai’sa 🥺 I cant believe you made me invested in these two in less than 5min 😭😭😭
You keep moving me to tears with your speculative endings for these sort of characters, omg, how dare Q.Q (that was beautiful and very emotional, and I think it has a lot to do with the way you pace your voice in the dramatic telling of it ngl) 🌵🌵🌵
Lux next please Her in game interactions doesnt fit her current lore she needs an asu I think her best skin is elementalist lux she changes to 10 forms Worst one commando
🌵🌵🌵 Cactus comes with the mention that I do miss when you would come up with some ridiculous story about why we shouldn't click the dislike button. Anyhow, wonderful analysis on Bel'veth, i enjoyed being able to see the touches in how they animate her to emphasize what her true face is. And your noting that she is merely a void monster with delusions of grandeur is spot on. On thd one hand i would prefer a happier ending for everyone in general but as a means of sending off Kai'sa and Bel'veth, you did a fine job. Besides, I'm fairly certain the world of Runeterra doesn't want a lot of happy endings anyway.
This is my favourite Future segment so far. I feel like your ideas and stories only get better and better. Bel'veth's story has to involve the fact that she is everything she consumes, it is one of her core defining characterisitcs. This is the perfect ending for her, and a perfect ending for Kai'sa, made even better by this bookending Bel'veth's intro cinematic and color story. I'm sure you already have a lot of videos to do but I have to BEG for a what's the deal with Renata Glasc (and maybe what's the deal with Kassadin?)
Fantastic video and I love your fanfic take on the war! Please give us that Taliyah/Kai'Sa story you alluded to - or any other fanfiction you feel inclined to write. 🌵
I am extremely glad you pointed out the animation issue. As an animator I also wondered why belbeth being such a fluid character moved with such klunkyness
The story could go as you've imagined it with a difference of Riot going like - Ehhhh.. let's say that Bel'Veth spit out Kai'Sa and then ran away. Yeah, after she realized that.. she can't just consume all of reality. Instead, we give her a "conclusion" to her story and then leave her on the shelf for other story arcs
@@Ajehy GP was planned for such a rework.. and I am somewhat sad they don't do them anymore like that Just, translate the current champ through the story and lore into a new kit if needed be Imagine for example they rework Kog'Maw through some Void event.. and explain that he went past whatever larvae-like phase he is in now or smth
This champion is such a great example of the 8th principle of animation(secondary action). The main action being the main body/face, and the secondary being the second face. She is not fully controlling the face. It’s moving with her body like hair would flow after you if you run. It’s super cool!
This was a super interesting breakdown and I think your ending for her is spectacular. I would like to see Ki'sa use her experience with the Void suit and perhaps it's growing sentience and attachment to her allow her to perhaps reform from inside Bel'veth and either escape just before she returns to the Void or else take over Bel'veth and incorporate her into the suit. But either way a happy ending for those two would be nice.
I am imagining that as Bel'veth consumed more and potentially developed empathy, fear, worry, and hesitation that she might look to gain more information to reassure herself. Renata is the same but opposite as her -- hungry for power, information, control, and both of their intrinsic motivations are fairly complicated to figure out. As Bel'veth consumes more, she gains more humanity, while as Renata consumes more, she loses her humanity and cares less and less about Zaunites and the people around her. Bel'veth could be something that could terrify Renata, but she could also meet her match in her. Renata's eye for design could inspire Bel'veth to create a more appealing Lavender Sea, and Bel'veth would offer Renata control over not only the Sun Gates, but over potentially everything. And there's a bunch of ways a story like that could play out if these two villians were to come together in any way, as either working as a team or opposing each other. It could set them both up to be taken out by the good guys, or for one or both of them to even have a redemption arc, to have them turn on each other if they were a team, or to even have them win, become more corrupt than ever, and move on to taking control of more of the universe. Ofc my imagination is running wild here but the idea is fun to think about haha
I like the idea that a void monster is contradictory and as soon as they become a creature they stop being void. The circumstances of their birth imbues the with hatred and hunger, but they can never return to never having been, never back to the void. Vel'koz and Bel'veth are the only ones I could see as eventually understanding that though a redemption would be an even greater leap from that🌵
such fantastic storytelling with Kai'Sa and Taliyah. their emotions, their desperation, their exhaustion are all so visceral and brilliantly told. I so desperately wish that Riot would reach out and have Sky on their writing team.
Also regarding the skin review part I would love for you to do something like that but maybe regarding whole skin lines? Not as in depth, but I think there is interesting lore within for example the coven and elder wood skins that reflects in the designs
Huh... The thing that really gets me with her dance is how rigid it is. Like the snap from one motion to the next like you mentioned, obviously, but also she strikes a pose after the snap and holds it as she spins. As you say, it's not noticable in the top down full speed view, but in your slow mo side view it sortof reminds me of those early films where the film person was just studying motion, so like they had a ballerina hold a pose during the spin.
Personally my fanfi- version of her defeat would be a bit different. It would strike her in her ego and lack of comprehension of living things. After many trials, Taliyah and Kai'Sa managed to get to the Freljord, bringing Zilean and Jax on the way. Once in the cold lands, they would've confronted the Frostguard and Lissandra, culminating in Zilean and Jax calling out the Frost Witch. They understand what she fears but know that there is another way. They do not have to cower in fear and cry where only the ice will hear them. They can stand up. They can fight. Lissandra, eventually convinced, decides to strike a deal with the group, allowing the Frostguard to help them in their fight in exchange for Zilean staying and halping Lissandra to contain the Watchers permanently. The group doesn't much trust her (they're right) but Zilean accepts the deal, seeing how important it is to contain the threats in the Freljord. Forward a couple of months, back in Shurima. Alongside our group of heroes and the frostguard, an army composed of Azir and his sand soldiers would fight back the one led by Bel'Veth and Malzahar. Sivir is here too, with a group of mercenaries paid by money coming right out of the emperor's pocket, along with a Nasus relieved to see Taliyah after all these years and his Baccai warriors. Finally, Yasuo came to their aid, with the three darkins here for their vengeance on the Void, the Shadow Order to help Kayn and Shen and his Kinkou to protect the balance (help Shen's boyfriend) and Kassadin with whom Kai'Sa would've reunited, although he is still cold and distant. Unfortunately, the battle goes south as while our heroes' strength is great, the enemy army is beyond all measure as Bel'Veth's power kept growing during the lead op to the battle. It all culminates to a moment where, tearing through the sand of the soldiers and the flesh of the mortals, Bel'Veth manages to open her way to what she identifies as the greatest threat in the oposing army: Azir. Everyone is too far to help. Everyone... except for a little desert nomad for whom Azir probably would've never spared a thought. Taliyah sees the Ascended nearing his death, and while he readies himself to attack Bel'Veth, by the time he actually damages her it'll be too late. She conjures a gigantic wall of earth and surfes towards Azir faster than ever before, pushing him out of the way at the last possible second, taking advantage of the void empress' focus on Azir causing her to notice the speeding earthbender a thousandth of a second too late. While the two Shurimans lie on the ground, Bel'Veth turns towards them, her fake face harboring an uncanny victory smile. She is gloating, as she deduced that Taliyah probably is exhausted after using her magic so extremely and thus, the pair won't evade her. The two mages stand up. They concentrate their magic, knowing very well this is their final fight. Azir thanks Taliyah in his usual formal manner, before getting cut off by the much more unformal tone of the young woman replying that it was nothing and that everyone would do this if they had the chance or so she hoped, prompting Azir to wonder if he would have... At least Taliyah knew one other girl who would, and her only regret in that last fraction of second her spirit would exist in would be to never have bid her goodbye. As the two strike Bel'Veth, she is knocked back. Not only by Azir's bolt of pure energy. Not only by Taliyah's boulder. But by one, powerful bolt of blue energy. As the emperess is confused, both our heroes recognize this bolt as a second hit Bel'Veth. Then a third and a fourth. The two shurimans turn around. There, on a sandhill near the line of horizon, a single blue dot of energy launches bolts that bombard the battlefield and especially the monstrous ray. Then another army emerges. One made of twisted energy soldiers rushing into battle, led by a giant warrior all too familiar to Azir who rushes to Nasus, stuck between gigantic voidborns that even he has trouble defeating. In a fast motion, Renekton slices the leg of one of them who was trying to attack his brother from behind, yelling that Nasus was his alone. Xerath flies to the battlefield, exchanging one silent, clear look with Azir. No matter what awaited them, their war would have to wait. Kai'Sa rushes in to spray fire at Bel'Veth in the hopes of diverting her attention from Taliyah before rushing to her friend. Almost unnaffected by the bolts, the empress quickly scans the battlefield and witnesses an horror she would never have imagined. She's not already won. Everywhere, her troops are slowly starting to be overwhelmed by the sheer power of the runeterrans. Even Malzahar is being defeated by a duo of Jax and Kassadin, both here to avenge what they lost to void invasions. Itshouldn't be this way. If she killed Azir, if this little human didn't get in the way, she would've won after the disapearance of his sand soldiers, reinforcements or not. For the first time in her existence, Bel'Veth actually feels something that isn't triumph. She's frustrated. It shouldn't have ended like that. IT COULDN'T! There was no miscalculation here, there was no manner in which they could've overturned this battle. This girl shouldn't have even been a factor, there shouldn't have been anyone coming as reinforcements and all of them should've fell to her. As rage builds up, she lunges towards Taliyah before getting pushed back by Azir's bolt. She then tries to attack Azir, but Taliyah and Xerath protect him. Annoyed at this insignificant, earthbending, infuriating fly, she rushes towards her, only to have her jaws close on nothing. Kai'Sa saved her friend by dashing toards her at the last minute, and his now firing at Bel'Veth with all her fire power. The queen swats her away, but before she can attack Taliyah again, Nasus strikes her at full force, followed soon by Renekton covering for his brother. Bel'Veth simply cannot understand what is happening. As anger overtakes her, the perfect being, she tries more desperate attempts, but ech one of them is stopped by runeterrans covering for their friends. However, she still manages to strike Kai'Sa again, sending her flying in a resonant crack. Seeing her opening, she blinks towards her, ready to eat her alive... And she manages to do it. Bel'Veth feels something between her teeth. But as she swallows it, she realizes something is shooting at her. Screaming. She looks down and it's... Kai'Sa. But, then what did she...? Bel'Veth feels an overwhelming presence. What she ate... was angry. Enraged. Hateful. It felt like achieving the goal of a thousand lifetimes, only to give have it ripped away from you. Kai'Sa yells. Cries for her father. How Kassadin managed to save the girl in extremis would remain a mystery to Bel'Veth. It didn't matter anyways, as every atom that composed the void hunter was now disolving These runeterrans she was fighting were too dangerous to be left alive. They eluded her perfect calculations, impossible to let them live. But as the empress attacks Kai'Sa something happens within her. She stops dead in her track. Something... isn't right. Every atom in her perfect body wants to kill the girl, so why does she feel tremendous pain even trying to? As the queen is left puzzled, a gigantic boulder slaps her, as Taliyah rushes to Kai'Sa's aid. This was starting to get endless. Bel'Veth makes another attempt, but the pain is greater than before. Inside her, she can feel... something, fighting with every once of existence to prevent her. And with each instant, she can feel the essence of those she consumed light up like a fire. What they were was unmade to create the empress, and led by the indomitable fury of the man she just ate, their traits are reinforced to awaken something in Bel'Veth. For the first time, Bel'Veth felt a semblance of a soul within her. And it was doing everything possible to prevent her from flying towards her oponents. Everything to protect the daughter of the void walker. With the monster is stunned by this opposing force, the runeterran fighters make their move. All together, those who were close enough strike Bel'Veth, who tries to defend herself with what she can... but can't. Her army is dimmed. Her own strength is low. There is no reinforcement coming. She falls, and seeing their leader down, the rest of her armies rushes to her aid, only to be finished one by one. As the beast lays on the ground, a single sound of footsteps approaches her. Raising her head, Bel'Veth sees Kai'Sa and the young woman who caused her whole plan to collapse. Tired, the fallen empress asks a simple question. "How?". Her plan should've worked. No one should've been fast enough to save Azir. And even then she should've killed Azir immediatly after. Why didn't she...? Taliyah answers. Because Bel'Veth didn't know why runeterran fought. Sure, a lot of them fought for themselves, but for a lot of others, it was about each other. Kai'Sa continues, saying that Bel'Veth's ego was her downfall, as it blinded her to the simple idea that people might fight for something else than themselves. In the end, all she was was another monster with dellusions of grandeur. A beast posing as a god, who never took time to understand what makes so much runeterrans tick, Kai'Sa continues as she takes Taliyah's hand. Enraged by these words, Bel'Veth spits that there wasn't anything they could do without her. The watchers would destroy reality without her aid. All will be destroyed. That causes Kai'Sa to simply answer that if the watchers understood runeterra as well as bel'veth, then they would lose just like her. Enrage, Bel'Veth makes one final attempt at attacking Kai'Sa but is finished by one final plasma shot of the young woman. If you got suggestions, please post them below, this is only my first draft with no second read after all.
One of the things I love most about the new Void lore is that it's the humans' fault that the Void wants to destroy them. Usually in fiction, when you have this other dimension that wants to destroy reality, it's always big very big bad vilains who do this just because they are evil and the nice humans have to stop them. But there not it is the humans who have disturb the void and break the balance, which reminds me our world where human activities are the cause of a lot of disasters like for example the global warming
This video was a great companion to grinding out the SG pass! Speaking of SG, I'd love to have What's The Deal videos for skins, at least for the larger universes. I've only really personally seen skins as "Cool fantasies to make money" so hearing a more critical/artistic take on them would be interesting! 🌵
🌵 I really like the idea of Bel'Veth being a raid boss in the mmo. The other champion I'd be excited to see would be Aatrox. Something something the sword keeps getting picked up by idiot who see this big sword and think they can control it, and adventurers have to keep going to keep the sword from being picked up again.
They could bring back the big fuckin spider that used to spawn on rift herald side as a raid boss! Imagine if you had one of the Galio-style magical constructs as a raid boss like the giant owlbear thing (Gorlith? I think??) You could even have some more fun specialist raids. Like imagine a raid against Teemo. But he's invisible the entire time and is just running around a hedge maze or something dropping puffcaps everywhere and his blinding arrow literally whites your screen out for a few seconds. He wouldn't be like super tanky or anything. Just a real pain in the ass to fight lol Could have a Sejauni boss fight where you have to take her boar down to "access" to damaging Sejaunis actual healthbar for a short time. But after a little while her boar gets back up and you have to re-down it. Like a halo shield but it's an animal lol An Aurelion Sol boss fight where at first it seems like the idea is to stay far away from him to avoid the orbiting stars: but you actually wanna be really close to him to avoid the stars and his ranged attacks. Just feels fitting that Aurelion would be this cool, grand boss fight you can cheese like a Borderlands boss Or an Olaf raid where the point isn't to actually kill him just to get him to super low HP A thresh raid boss would be dope asf. Naut too. (Would be dope if Pyke and Naut both had their bossfight together like souls bosses where one is a massive juggernaut and the other is a nimble assassin) There's a lot of sick stuff you could add there
the animation at about 25:00 also gives me cat ear vibes. like how cats sometimes sit still but suddenly their ears flick in a certain direction then their gaze follows after that. especially with how sharp the animation is as skyen said. it‘s like a predator sharply turning its head towards a sound. it‘s like the antenna of an angler fish spotting a difference in the water currency, twitching in the direction where it‘s sensing prey.
yes 🌵 in fact i would love a happy taliyah and kaisa ending because the whole time you were describing the end of bel’veth i was trying to figure out how kai’sa could come back in the end 😭 i can’t have any more sadness come to taliyah, my girl’s gone through so much 😭 fantastic video as usual, glad i could finally find time to watch it!!
I think the self-sacrifice would be more meaningful if it was Kassadin, who finally found his daughter and succeeded his lifegoal, sacrifices himself to save his daughter and end his arc.
This video was brilliantly made, your conclusions and interpretation of her lore, motives and design are excellent. I can appreciate Bel'Veth much more after watching this. What an awesome work of art. I love your content, please keep it up! 🌵
Hee human appearance is to make her *human victims* comfortable when seeing upon her villainous attire. So she can fully reveal who she really is, because. Either way. She'll show you who she looks like without lying. Besides, like animals. They adapt to learn like us.
Yeah but that falls apart when you remember that she has high psychological powers, and that it would be equal to giving mental powers to an anglerfish
Thank you for this video ! I think you have a fascinating way to tell stories and I really appreciate that love of storytelling, theatre and poetry. Plus, your good english skills are making me smile when i see how people usually communicate with simplistic words, feels good to hear ! I'm looking forward for more of your content. Cheers ! ❤🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵🌵
Also your fanfic made me cry, ive only cried with media 3 times, is there any one place where to find all of your writing pieces like this and the soraka-olaf thing? If there even is more
Underrated but your totally-not-fanfic feels like incredible shipping fuel between Kai'sa and Talliyah and now I'm *all* for this 😅 Edit: Serves me for not finishing the video first! I would die for this Fanfiction now Skyen lmao! 🌵🌵
It's really a fun mindfuck to just actually look at what bel'veth is in her splash art. The desire to structure the body around the person looking head is so hard to fight
🌵🌵 I really like the concept of her character being overconfidence and deterministic behaviour as she sees herself as an omnipotent being. The ''All-powerful evil worldending threat'' is pretty generic but The Void already was that for a long time, now it just has a face on it. Which means they are able to give character, identity and what passes for motivation to The allconsuming abyss, as well as flaws. Your version of the ending of the story I like a lot, since you can allow for Bel'veth to be actually as powerful as she sees herself, while giving a ''win-con'' to the heroes in a way that ALSO gives more context to what the Void is supposed to be. Sure you end up with a different version of ''with the power of love and friendship we overcome all evil'' kind of deal but the way that this plotline aligns and interacts with the characters make it interesting. Like you said, giving in to darkness makes the monster weaker. Overall I'm really exited for the MMO as I do hope they will have the opportunities to build on many of these characters and their story. If they are given the time to do so, of course 🙏
I am laugh crying right now that was so wonderful the story that you made at the end of this video. Just a typical someone sacrifices themselves for the love of another but the way you describe it in such detail and such poetry it was so beautiful. I would’ve sat through an hour long ad because I knew that that was going to be amazing.
No change in case it in the story. She disappeared from league for a while like gangplank did, And it comes back as a living memory somehow. But she’s not really alive but only exist within Talliah’s mind, like River song should have it in Doctor Who.
Honestly the idea of Bel'Veth gaining humanity over time sounds really cool. Especially given she is aware of the threat of the Watchers she could end up becoming a pivotal instrument against them if she were to fully embrace the humanity she'd absorbed.
I think another nice part of the unleashed form being the one where the fake face disappears is the message of that. A character that proclaims to "never lie" becomes its most powerful when it discards the lie that it has built into its body.
YES I WANT THAT FANFIC on another note this video was really good, i listened to it and i really liked how you explained your points. I never realized bel'veth contradicted herself
As someone that finds crying quite difficult, thanks man for that fanfic; thanks to you and my love for humanity now I have to explain to my brother why I'm teared up and snotty with my phone in my hand ❤️🤡 Never change, you're the best of us🌵
Fantastic video as always!! 🌵 🌵 🌵 I am certainly interested in shorter form videos on what’s the deal with skins if you wanted to. My husband suggested “what’s up with” as a shorter title.
🌵 would love to hear more fanfic from you so yay for positive endings! The way you read the lore theories and how you play with the themes is just excellent.
🌵 Also, are You planning on playing more Elden Ring? Im so interested in seeing You analyze this game because of it's themes it deals with Great analysis as always, was a blast to hear Yor fanfic :)
I've been thinking about writing fanfiction for League of Legends for so long, and every time you make a What's the deal? video I feel ever so much more inclined to 🌵
Oddly enough I left League because every other character became "hot people with weapon" and less "monster and heroes archetypes". As a game designer I freaking love this champion and this channel
The thing that I dislike the most about Bel'Veth is that her character is very disconected from her gameplay She is a scheming mastermind that consumes, but in-game she slaps you until you die and that leave a void coral which she consumes to "activate" her full powers?
🌵🌵I loved your story idea for her ending. How I would have changed it was after Kai’Sa is devoured her her connection to the Void keeps her from being destroyed instantly and it becomes a battle of wills within of humanity vs entropy. Instead of mutually assured destruction the two champions pit their wills and philosophies against one another. But the end result is not destruction of the Bel’Veth or Kai’San but something equally antithetical to the void, the creation of something new. Essentially the two champions merge and and we get a new Void champion, or a complete redesign of Kai’San that more Infested Kerrigan and less meat iron man suit.
"Do you want a happier ending for Kai'Sa and Taliyah?"
The analytic side: Honestly, no. That was a beautifully told -fanfiction- story and having Kai'Sa survive would severely downplay her sacrifice.
The child in me who never stopped wanting happy endings in every single piece of media he sees: YES *PLEASE* 🌵
I agree
"Kassadin teleports in and say, Kai'sa I am your father" 👏
what would happen to kassadin?
i agree with the analytic side and propose that we REMOVE KAI'SA FORM THE GAME ENTIRELY! ... only to keep true to the lore ofc.. :)
@@FenrisRM tbf yone is dead, so is senna
You talk about doing "What's the deal with Skin X?", but... how about doing a "What's the deal with Skin *Line* X?". I think that would allow you to do deeper dives into the aesthetics of a skin line and what they're trying to do with it, as well as how successful they are at doing it. 🌵
100% this! skin lines would be a fun dive
I love to see that.
I like this idea. What's worth considering is also how the skin line evolved over time, star guardian for example has 4-5 iterations, each a bit different from the previous sets
🌵

Forgotten... or just saved for a special occasion?
@@TBSkyen it’s not a bug it’s a feature, very riot games of you

Got your solution and a happy ending to boot fam. End credits we see the battle Field empty and destroyed one small void rift opens up revealing kassadin, witnessing what happened throughout the battle he rift walks into the void where the little remains of the death of bel Velth leave parts of her victims slowly difting in the void after what felt like an eternity of scavenging he find her broken but grasping for life only alive due to her suit. There happy ending 😄
@@TBSkyen so does this mean that were getting a :"what's the (New) deal of kassidan?"😃
"that's one way to do it" said Skyen after improvising a gut-wrenching epic fanfic finale 🌵🌵🌵
Basically "she wants to play god"
so bel'veth is basically the embodiment of "i'm not like other girls"
PICK ME VOIDBORN
I'm not like other voidborn I actually want to BECOME reality unlike those -ugh- other ones 😡
:cactus:
There's a theory I had regarding Kai'Sa that makes her somewhat similar to Bel'Veth (and Zyra, if I recall her latest lore correctly, though for all I know that's since been retconned after the Ixtal update):
Rather than a human who inexplicably merged with a symbiotic voidling and managed to survive in purple hell with perfect makeup; she's actually the voidling itself, who ate a little girl called Kaisa a decade ago and after inheriting the child's memories, she became convinced that she *is* Kai'Sa.
Brooooo
That's actually so good
I don't care what anyone say, this is my Canon history now.
If only piles of my favorite food would suddenly appear :
Yet another example on how the fandom is so superior when it comes to writing the lore..... this is my story now idc
Oh god it can actually make sense (due to the fact that she feels like a Native ingame and even in the card game... also she cant remember even his Father's face... Yes Kassadin is almost Faceless now but surely he still looks like Kai'sa's dad...)
Love how he didnt mention Kassadin at the end, that makes this even more Riot like.
The idea of her being designed as internally contradictory is actually a really interesting take. And yes, fanfiction from you would be great! I still have fond memories of your Olaf & Soraka story, I really enjoy your creative work and narrative. You've got that skill of conveying raw emotion through your writing 🌵
i link that story to all my friends
🌵🌵
i think belveth could go in a path where she develops empathy...
for her fellow void champeons
recruting them and developing into a true empres, that exist only for her empire and her people
an empire and people who see the rest of the universe as resoirces for themselves
could even add weird and cute moments like bonding with rek sai over creating void mineons, that way you can give the rest of the void champeons more character by giving them a chance to interact with each other
interesting take, I like it
This Is A Beautiful And Wonderful Idea That RIOT Will Definitely Ignore And Go In The Completely Opposite Direction.
sounds nice, like a sort of isolationist kingdom.
though i am pretty sure Rek'sai is incapable or coherent thought that is more than insect level. still love her, first queen.
A good way for chogaths rework
The problem here is that belveth inherently is still just a monster, all the void monsters know that, yes a teamed up void would be strong but i could only see a big chogath doing that than belveth
🌵🌵🌵
I think an interesting way you could do a good ending for the Kai’sa death would be if Kai’sa was reborn in the lavender sea, assimilated with her suit and even more “monstrous” than before.
I don't know why, but all I could think about when I read what's the deal with bel'veth was what's the deal with airplane food.
*seinfield theme*
Every time I search this series up I get a bunch of Jerry Seinfeld stuff. It's great
I really like the perspective of her presenting herself as more than a void monster as it makes the dichotomy of her story and gameplay more clear.
Man I would love the tiny hats
She would pout so much and it would be cute.
Glad i am not the only one who thought her true monster form is cute, when I saw it in the trailer i was like : awwww look at her 😍
This was a really interesting look at Bel'veth, I never really noticed until this video how inconsistent her dialogue and actions were, so it was really fun as always to hear your thoughts on the matter 🌵
Exactly! I think they're both extremely well designed antagonists.
@@muzansama8828 yeah!!!! Bro they’re both girlbosses!

@@Kylo27 YEAH I finished Rhythm of War earlier this month and it really was a NUTS climactic book. Probably the best in the series so far.
i like the idea of humans corrupting the void, maybe instead of developing empathy, she becomes more arrogant and greedier, she starts to embrace the worst parts of humanity as part of herself, and at the end, those human traits end up being the reason why she is defeated.
edit: i forgot the 🌵
🌵A "What's the deal with Star Guardian Lux" would be sick🌵
Or Star Guardians in general. I really like the idea of talking about whole skin lines.
🌵🌵
I love the idea of Kai'Sa's instinctual sacrifice being the ultimate downfall of Bel'Veth.
🌵Do love that fanfic which was totally not just an excuse to kill off Kai'sa. Totally not.
Who doesn't want that though
She has the personality of white bread and the creative design of a spandex suit.
Bel’veth’s true weakness, CACTUS 🌵🌵🌵
They are really painful to consume.
Yes, Short versions of "What's the deal with" would be Respected, we love the Writing you make, It's so descript and varied.
The part where you talked about how Belveth and 🌵's are so similar... Man... Truly an insanely interesting character design...
You are incredibly talented in animation breakdown and how you just wrote a story ending for bel veth that was realy high quality and full of ideas
🌵🌵
that fanfic part, *cheff kiss * (would love a happy ending, but the one you wrote was just delicious)

Man I wish there were a series about a villain painted in the way that you've brought her to life. It's a fresh take on the hero's journey
Once again the short story got me in tears. These are always so good, thanks so much for sharing!
🌵
This is my favourite Future segment so far. I feel like your ideas and stories only get better and better. Bel'veth's story has to involve the fact that she is everything she consumes, it is one of her core defining characterisitcs. This is the perfect ending for her, and a perfect ending for Kai'sa, made even better by this bookending Bel'veth's intro cinematic and color story.
I'm sure you already have a lot of videos to do but I have to BEG for a what's the deal with Renata Glasc (and maybe what's the deal with Kassadin?)
this finally pushed me to start writing the tf and graves fanfic I've been waffling on, thank you for being that sign Skyen 🥺
Fantastic video and I love your fanfic take on the war! Please give us that Taliyah/Kai'Sa story you alluded to - or any other fanfiction you feel inclined to write. 🌵
I totally ship it. Two young women forced to grow up too soon; the cold survivor and the warm, loving optimist. It’s a classic!
Yeah, they won’t destroy a champ that they spent time & money on. They learned from the Burning Tides rage over “Gangplank’s death”.
@@Ajehy GP was planned for such a rework.. and I am somewhat sad they don't do them anymore like that
Just, translate the current champ through the story and lore into a new kit if needed be
Imagine for example they rework Kog'Maw through some Void event.. and explain that he went past whatever larvae-like phase he is in now or smth
Doing skin reviews of characters would be super hype for ur main channel🌵
I like the idea that a void monster is contradictory and as soon as they become a creature they stop being void.
The circumstances of their birth imbues the with hatred and hunger, but they can never return to never having been, never back to the void. Vel'koz and Bel'veth are the only ones I could see as eventually understanding that though a redemption would be an even greater leap from that🌵
such fantastic storytelling with Kai'Sa and Taliyah. their emotions, their desperation, their exhaustion are all so visceral and brilliantly told. I so desperately wish that Riot would reach out and have Sky on their writing team.
Skyen's ability for media analysis is genuinely breathtaking. I don't understand how he does it
awesome video! i always enjoy the fanfic segments 🌵🌵🌵
Aurelion Sol seeing Bel'Veth wanting to consume everything: HOLD ON, NOT THE STARS I MADE!!!
I want an update to Vel’Koz voicelines so we get some interactions with Bel’Veth🌵
I think??)
You could even have some more fun specialist raids.
Like imagine a raid against Teemo. But he's invisible the entire time and is just running around a hedge maze or something dropping puffcaps everywhere and his blinding arrow literally whites your screen out for a few seconds.
He wouldn't be like super tanky or anything. Just a real pain in the ass to fight lol
Could have a Sejauni boss fight where you have to take her boar down to "access" to damaging Sejaunis actual healthbar for a short time. But after a little while her boar gets back up and you have to re-down it. Like a halo shield but it's an animal lol
An Aurelion Sol boss fight where at first it seems like the idea is to stay far away from him to avoid the orbiting stars: but you actually wanna be really close to him to avoid the stars and his ranged attacks. Just feels fitting that Aurelion would be this cool, grand boss fight you can cheese like a Borderlands boss
Or an Olaf raid where the point isn't to actually kill him just to get him to super low HP
A thresh raid boss would be dope asf. Naut too. (Would be dope if Pyke and Naut both had their bossfight together like souls bosses where one is a massive juggernaut and the other is a nimble assassin)
There's a lot of sick stuff you could add there
the animation at about 25:00 also gives me cat ear vibes. like how cats sometimes sit still but suddenly their ears flick in a certain direction then their gaze follows after that.
especially with how sharp the animation is as skyen said. it‘s like a predator sharply turning its head towards a sound.
it‘s like the antenna of an angler fish spotting a difference in the water currency, twitching in the direction where it‘s sensing prey.
bel'veth is another great design this year renata and bel'veth are very interesting and good design
yes 🌵 in fact i would love a happy taliyah and kaisa ending because the whole time you were describing the end of bel’veth i was trying to figure out how kai’sa could come back in the end 😭 i can’t have any more sadness come to taliyah, my girl’s gone through so much 😭
fantastic video as usual, glad i could finally find time to watch it!!
@@jellopuffy2974 yeah, pretty much.... unless your Champion that only says one one-to-two words
If there even is more
YESSS PLEASE
I mean, I put the Soraka/Olaf thing on Ao3 - archiveofourown.org/works/35058787
But the rest of it is contained in the videos, only.
I cried during the ‘fan fiction’ part. You’re a very good story teller
Underrated but your totally-not-fanfic feels like incredible shipping fuel between Kai'sa and Talliyah and now I'm *all* for this 😅
Edit: Serves me for not finishing the video first!
🏜🏜🏜
I love the idea of TB Skyen hating Kai'sa's design so much that his fanfic of Void vs Runeterra is literally resolved by killing her
Honestly the idea of Bel'Veth gaining humanity over time sounds really cool.
YES I WANT THAT FANFIC
on another note this video was really good, i listened to it and i really liked how you explained your points. I never realized bel'veth contradicted herself
As someone that finds crying quite difficult, thanks man for that fanfic; thanks to you and my love for humanity now I have to explain to my brother why I'm teared up and snotty with my phone in my hand ❤️🤡
Never change, you're the best of us🌵
The "The Future" segment of these videos is always my favourite, it never fails to give me chills!🌵
Fantastic video as always!! 🌵 🌵 🌵
I am certainly interested in shorter form videos on what’s the deal with skins if you wanted to. My husband suggested “what’s up with” as a shorter title.
Man, listening to you talking about the Lore you Made Up was an absolute blast and actually gave me goosebumps.
You're a Legend.
Removing her head does not remove the human like body structure, especially with the clear slender leg design
🌵 would love to hear more fanfic from you so yay for positive endings! The way you read the lore theories and how you play with the themes is just excellent.
🌵
Also, are You planning on playing more Elden Ring? Im so interested in seeing You analyze this game because of it's themes it deals with
Great analysis as always, was a blast to hear Yor fanfic :)
I've been thinking about writing fanfiction for League of Legends for so long, and every time you make a What's the deal? video I feel ever so much more inclined to
🌵
🌵can’t believe you killed off Kai’sa i want the alternative ending lol
Oddly enough I left League because every other character became "hot people with weapon" and less "monster and heroes archetypes". As a game designer I freaking love this champion and this channel
League is like a cactus 🌵 to me, i will never ever touch it but its pretty to look at from afar. Keep up the good work!
Wheeee glad to be seeing a new thing from you Skyen. Also, a genuinely fascinating analysis of the contradictions in Bel'Veth's design 🌵
The thing that I dislike the most about Bel'Veth is that her character is very disconected from her gameplay
She is a scheming mastermind that consumes, but in-game she slaps you until you die and that leave a void coral which she consumes to "activate" her full powers?
Yeah I expected her to be some sort of stealth/CC assassin not the most unga bunga AA character I've ever seen
