    Thank you very much for this extremely helpful video! Got it installed over about an hour, and it would have been nice if I could have moved my bed, but I got up on it for the install. It helps to be 6'-6" 😅

    Awesome video. But I have a red wire left along with a white wire from the house.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have to say that we're not licensed electricians, and you should always consult with a licensed electrician to make sure wiring is connected correctly. That being said, typically, a red wire in the ceiling is a switch wire. If the fan is connected to the other wires and operating correctly, you can just cap off the extra wires. If the red wire is a switch wire, there are a couple of options. You can connect the fan's blue and black wires to the red wire and cap off the house black wire. This would allow you to use the switch to turn the fan and light on/off with the switch. Or, you can leave the fan's black wire connected to the house black and connect the fan's blue wire to the red house wire. This would allow you to turn just the light on/off with the switch. Again, if you're not sure about the wiring, please consult with a licensed electrician.

    What do you do with the green wire if installing on close to ceiling since we aren’t using the down rod?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if installing without the downrod, you'd just connect the green wire from the mounting bracket with the bare copper ground wire from the house.

    Can you install this ceiling fan without a light kit? Or does it have to be with the lights?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This fan can be installed without the light kit. You would just need to call Hampton Bay customer service to order a blank switch cap.

    • @ceilingfans101

      This video includes both the flush mount option and the downrod option. You can use the links in the description to skip over the "Close-to-ceiling" instrctions and just watch the sections with the downrod.

    Have red, black.white and copper wire from ceiling. If I combine black and blue together the red from ceiling is unattached.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  ปีที่แล้ว

      We have to start by saying that we are not licensed electricians, and if your house's wiring is different than the manual, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correctly. That being said, typically, a red wire is a switch wire. If that is the case, the fan's black wire can be connected to the house blackand the fan's blue wire can be connected to the red switch wire. This would allow you to turn the light on/off using a switch. You could also just cap the red wire off with an electrical nut and connect the fan wire like the video shows.

    How do you ground if doing the close to ceiling method? In mine the ground is connected to the ground tod

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mounting bracket has a green wire attached to it, so you'd just connect the green wire from the mounting bracket to the house copper wire.

    Does the ground wire HAS to be connected to something? Because im not using the downrod, and i don’t have a wire to connect it to

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the ground wire doesn't HAVE to be connected. It is just an added safety measure to help protect the fan from power surges. If you house doesn't have a ground wire, you can just cap the green wire using a small wire nut and electrical tape.

    do not buy these fans. they are complete junk. the blow no air at all and are noisy and wobbly. plus, they have bad mounting brackets that causes these fans to fall down.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you may have had a bad experience with another fan. This fan (as seen at the end) does not wobble and when installed properly will last for years and years. The mounting brackets are pretty standard and when mounted properly to the correct type of outlet box, they are very safe.
