Let’s hope that pre-release goes RAW and eventually comes to the Z9 and Z8. Maybe the color reference means higher bit? Could mean a lot of things though as you were mentioning.

10 bit color for video, for more colors. Which would be new to Z6 series in body?
Color has to do with codecs n bit depth which require more power to work hence heat which needs a bigger body to dissipate but they’ve managed to squeeze out of a small body like they did with the Z8 knowing that it did almost everything the Z9 does
It remains to be seen what they mean by it. We need 422 colours in the small H265 codec not only in RAW and ProRes
I think thats more to do with faster shutter speed than before, you can see in any evf anyway
First . Great to have a "official confirmation" of the Z6iii, it´s real.
Maybe the pre-capture feature will also work for taking videos. The teaser showed a video clip rather than a stills photo after stating that it can capture before pressing the shutter.

One question.
Will it effect the sales of nikon z8? As most of the people do not need 45mp/8k video. Z8 is for people with very specific need. As there was no camera in between z6ii and z8, most of them bought the Z8 as it was a newer technology.
Comming to ZF, it a great camera but with few issues that professionals need, like the joystick is not there. I feel ZF is a stop gap ( something to fill in) camera for the z6iii. The price might drop asap the z6iii is launched.

I don’t think so. I think the Z6 iii will be a much better video camera. So much so that the Z8 will seem like a pro high res stills body for fast shooting with great vid features. Most video works better with 6k footage for 4k timeline. 8k isn’t efficient from time and investment PoV for a business. It requires far more space and processing power. Someone has to pay for it. I think deeper 422 colours in h265 with about 300 to 500 mbps bitrate is what’s needed for high quality 4K work. That’s missing in z8. You have to go ProRes or Nraw for that and you end up taking 4 times as much space. H265 is very easily played on most editors as well. Z8, Z9, Zf just don’t have it. That’s a HUGE HUGE gap. Z6 iii should fill that gap. If it doesn’t, it makes no sense to buy Z6 iii new. Better to get a Z8 used for other features in stills.
I think the ad model selection here hints a lot at the target audience and the camera capabilities. This is capable for wildlife with definitely 20 fps… also the pre-capture can be on Raw.
I hope we'll get the Z7iii in 2024 as well

How many MP would you expect to see in a Z7iii and do you think it'd be able to record in 8K60p perhaps with a crop?
What’s missing for me from the teaser is mention of low light level performance to surpass that of the Z8/9. That’s the only thing that will tempt me to buy a copy of this please all offering as I’m a happy Z8 shooter with my old Z6ii as a second

I'm buying one when it is available. I love my z8 but a z6iii will be my new secondary, Maby my primary :8=O
Need your suggestion. If I can't wait for Z6 III to be available for sale here in the USA as I've got an 'once in a lifetime trip' coming up early next month, then between the Z6 II and Zf, which one would you recommend (along with Nikkor Z 24-120mm f/4 S line lens)?

If you don’t own the Z6II, get the Zf (possibly used) and with the smallrig grip. Buy a large V90 card. The video is another level with Zf along with the ibis. And af is much better with all types of subject detection

Can you share a link for the large V90 card? I hope I didn’t wait way too long to make that call. There may not be enough learning time prior to the trip. But in my defense, it’s a big investment. So I had to invest some time reading all about both the cameras. I was this close to ordering the Z6 II from one of the retailers but it’s backordered. Even that lens is back ordered too. So, I’ll have to order it directly from Nikon.
@@FramesTM Took the plunge yesterday. Literally had to call every authorized Nikon dealer in USA to find the Zf with the Z 24-120mm f/4 S line lens. Found one that had just one unit left in stock. Supposed to receive it on Tuesday, shipped already...fingers crossed..

I hope it’s closer to the size of the z6ii because I have wrist injuries from too many years of shooting and technical work. However, I realize that’s probably not likely. 😊

@@FramesTM I have been shooting for a little over 20 years and started out with large medium format cameras such as the Pentax67, then to DSLRs (Nikon). I continued collecting many cameras, shooting nights and weekends, all the while continuing to work a day job in web development. I have small hands and wrists and over time my tendinitis grew. The injury was just finally too much pain unaddressed properly. I got a small surgery and now it's much better but the physical therapist told me if I am not careful with how I shoot and how much I am on the computer, it can return. More than you wanted to know!
Well.. seems like you have enjoyed along the way.. maybe less time with the computer?

Thank you for analizing the teaser! Can't wait! New evf sounds great! Seems like wildlife is big part of target for z6iii. Nikon invited lot of wildlife photographers for tests.
"All the beautiful colors" may very well refer to an increase to 10 or 12 bit ro even the adoption of a range of colored bodies as seen in the Zf. The latter was a hit in the latter camera. Also, there is no reason to believe that an announcement of the Z7lll will not come shortly.
All the beautiful colors probably means internal 422.
Even the Z9 doesn’t have 10 bit 422 in the most useful formats (h265). So I expect that in the camera
Maybe Nikon is talking about 16-bit color.

It could be Pre-Capture in Raw which we still don’t have in the Z8 and Z9. The bird in the pre-capture teaser is a White-throated Kingfisher which lives in SE Asia (across India).
Prerelease is also in the Zf. It looks a Zf on a z6 body with some more video features

Beautiful colors may be internal 10-bit 422 recording. Z6 and Z6ii didn't have internal 10-bit 422.
Even the Z8 doesn’t have 10bit 422 in h265 compressed file format
