I love this video. You are paying attention to a piece of railroad infrastructure that existed until recently (some still remain in isolated areas, but much is gone) and has been in very poor condition these past 20+ years.
Nice details. When I was an engineer I noticed that the prototype code line cross arms usually alternated mounting on each side of the poles. This would minimize the number of poles or crossarms pulled down in case of an accident snagging the wires. Another unusual detail I noticed between Benson Az and Shawmutt Az on the UPRR (Former SP) Sun Set Route was an insulator and power line on the very top of the pole identifying each mile location. Most likely done before actual mile posts were installed. Your poles with crossarms really add to the background.

Those Rix cross arm & pole's have been around for years and the best that's been on the market. Years back, Rix once offered a clear green tint cross arm set (No. 628-35) which are awesome, luckily I picked up a dozen or so sets when first released. The clear green tint plastic give the best appearance of the glass insulators used on the Proto Railroad line poles. Paint the cross arms a brown leaving the green tint insulators clear. Unfortunately they've been out of production for years. Everyone needs to email Rix Products to get them to produce these again!! - Alex K.
Really enjoyed your video and timely too as I am adding some poles to my yard. On the CPR on the back of employees timetables were drawings of insulator placement as a way of identifying the subdivision and also as some carried hydro which of the wires were hydro vs telephone or telegraph
I saw O Scale poles like these in a Scenic Express catalog book before, you might want to search Scenic Express online to see if they still offer them .
They look very good. The left over, broken wire is a great idea.
