I'm not too much into audiobooks. It's partly due to the format but partly also due to feeling overwhelmed by the various apps and how to use them. I've tried them for ebooks a few times. While I've somehow gotten it to work, I couldn't tell you exactly what I did. Each time I try, it's like I'm doing it for the very first time. Maybe I'm just not too bright. ;) Anyway this was very helpful, thank you.
The variance between applications is wild and often there is a steep learning curve. But audiobooks also aren’t for everyone! Maybe you just enjoy stories reading them instead of listening :)
I asked what you thought about the Libby app and you suggested this video (so here I am). I’m SUBSCRIBER #442🤘. Excellent video, thank you. I prefer smaller channels like yours because it allows for a conversation between the creator and myself. I have a TH-cam channel and it’s still small enough that I can have personal conversations with my regulars and I know all my OG’s. Anyway, thank you for suggesting this video and I hope you have a great day! I’m just finishing up the last published book in The Dresden Files series (Battle Ground) and will be cracking open The Silmarillion next for my yearly reread of it. FYI: I’m looking for a new series to read that’s not to cerebral. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Cheers 🤘
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! We are glad to have you on the channel :) Top of my head comes The Warlord Chronicles for people who like GRRM, or Rage of Dragons for someone who likes hundreds of pages of straight up action (suffers on character though). What do you like besides Dresden? Maybe I know something else that will work.
@@NICKREADSFANTASY I’m a die hard TOLKIEN fan but few authors come close to his level of awesome. So, I’m cool with stories that have great character building but they don’t need to be crazy intellectual. I am fine with lighter fare like Dresden or The Sookie Stackhouse novels (I enjoyed those immensely). I don’t need constant action but do appreciate an intricate and interesting world. I’m not overly picky and sometimes enjoy the easier readings to give my brain a break, if that makes sense?!?
@@GreatGreebo Warlord chronicles would be my suggestion, with the first book being Winter King. Characters are brilliant, greatly paced, and superb prose. It’s a retelling of aurthur, but probably one of the best ones Ive read.
You mentioned that in the Libby app you can extend the time of your book. Is there a limit to that? I doubt you can keep a book for ever. I LOVE what you said about there needs to be competition amongst audio book apps because it encourages innovation and improvements of the apps. Lastly, which do you prefer (in general): Reading physical books, listening to audiobooks or reading books digitally, like a kindle? (curious)
I have only had to extend more than one time once. It let me push out 21 days twice for a total of 63 day checkout in total. I think as long as you stay on top of it it should let you continue to push it out.
As far as my preference, I feel like you can miss parts of the story with the audio version, so I love physical books for that reason. However, the audio versions narrator can add to the story as well (lies of Locke lamora is an excellent example of the audiobook taking the book to the next level). In my personal life, I usually default to audio because of my busy schedule, and since I am still in school and learning I feel like if I am reading a physical book it has to be a text book lol. Audiobooks make the consumption of stories too convenient lol
@@NICKREADSFANTASY I'm amazed you and get in so much reading (and ENJOY it) despite having to study so much for school! I've heard many Booktubers say they burned out on reading in college and then returned to it. It's understandable.
I've never tried Libby's audiobook feature. It's also a little difficult to use it as an international reader as I cannot provide details in most, if not all, of. the libraries that are able since they are mostly in USA.

Can you move them to mp3? Thank you.
No. You can download them within the app so you don’t have to be online, but you cannot keep them forever.

I hadn’t even considered the app from an international standpoint. Have you searched digital libraries? You may be able to access titles that way.
doesn's work in europe
Nice to know! Maybe they have something similar? Maybe someone in the comments will drop a hidden gem app?
