    What is this?!
    - A player admitting his mistakes.
    - Appreciating luck in the game.
    - Praising the opponent's plays.
    - Emphasizing safety protocols.
    - Recognizing his own bias.
    I've never ever seen this before... I should be simply happy but I can't help feeling a bit confused... Can every football player be like this?

    There is a poker book called "Every hand revealed" by Gus Hansen, in which he explains EVERY hand he played during a major, 3-day poker tournament. Well, ths is the same but with football. Its amazing, great content value. No excessive editing or stock sound effects needed, just the game and your insight. A pro explaining the thought process of every play, every move. Hi Matt, your videos are a great source of inspiration and motivation to me personally. I don't play pro but am very passionate with football. I am also a late bloomer myself, since only recently have I found my confidence in my abilities. I have always played as RB/LB (both voluntarily and unvoluntarily) but now I am trying, and forcing myself, to play in a more advanced role like CM/AM, since I know I can make those through passes and connecting plays. Your videos have helped me quite a lot and I am really grateful that you are taking your personal time to deliver these videos to us. Please keep it up!

    Man this a nice video. I'm a natural defender who has been playing with a bunch of older guys every weekend. They ALWAYS put me up top or in midfield and I've found that it's so difficult to asses your surroundings and make quick decisions. I'm used to the whole field being in front of me at all times. Midfield is fun but you need to play so smart and fast, it's a real challenge.

    America is getting a case study from the Socrates of soccer Himself rn at Inter Miami on how to move both on and off the ball to completely negate entire defensive structures/teams with a single pass. Matt you put out a great video on Busquets a couple years ago that really displayed your understanding of the game at the pro level and described the roll of Sergio very well. This position seems to suit your abilities more then defensive back and it's awesome to see you thriving in the epicenter of the game and starting to command. very cool. I hope having Busi here at home helping leo et al dismantle the opposition is both inspiring and educational and I'm curious to know your thoughts on what you think the Spaniards will do for the game in this country from a cultural and sporting level. Cheers dude and congrats.

    You need to count the amount of time your scanning through out the game and before you receive the ball. Most of these plays you are critical of your decision making but you don’t give your self the time and information needed by properly scanning and positioning yourself. A lot of times your running when you should just be jogging and scanning. For example at 7:20 your running forward into space and you don’t scan the field once, and then you get surrounded by 3 players because you ran so far forward into the crowded space. You said you should have played out to the left but if you had moved slower and scanned the field you would have noticed the space to your right to drive forward and attack with your winger.

    You looked great overall! Your view of the game, energy and quickness are really good. Although, had you passed the ball a little sooner rather than taking that second and third touch on 10:00 . The quicker you distribute the ball and less touches you take, plus taking running tempos into consideration will help you become an even bigger problem. Keep it up!

    3:44 My instinct is to stay full throttle and make that defender come towards the goal line with me (looking for any lapse in his pressure the whole way).
    - After pushing deep the ball can be protected with a dribbling turn to look for a pass or continue dribbling towards the center of the field (irregardless of the dribble going forward or backwards - to the center field *getting in the box).

  • @tuka1996
    @tuka1996 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You did a lot of good things, but wanted to post negative comment, since we learn most from mistakes (also only my opinion and didnt see anyone pointing it out)
    9:55 should pass to Prince right away, no additional touch (left CB wouldn't be able to intercept). Early pass leaves enough space for the pass and Prince to decide pass or shoot.
    15:34 bad pass, the direction of the pass makes Connor stop and receive it (no motion forward). Way better if you could pass it a bit forward or pass it to right wing (also an option - long pass to Antoine, but I think hes offside there too). Other option dribble forward and look for through ball (honestly the teammates let you down here since no-one really committed for a run once you moved forward).
    16:40 nice ball shielding, great job

    It's impressive how you've integrated scanning and checking over your shoulder into your game. Releasing the ball quickly is something I'm quite good at, Personally, looking over my shoulder is not my forte , old habits kick in, and after a few times I kinda forget about it.

  • @nicktailhardat8477
    @nicktailhardat8477 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good analysis!
    At 10:00 the player was the right choice but the extra touch was costly. Needs a smaller touch for an earlier pass or no extra touch at all. If the pass is played early, theres more room for the winger to get to it. If the LCB vacates the striker to defend the pass, the winger has a free striker to play it to on a cut back. Ultimately as soon as the 3v2 was recognized, playing the ball forward will be more productive than a dribble because the ball moves faster than you do and the space behind is disappearing quickly.

    I think when you guys get on opposite side of the field ( second half ) better if you stay wide and high , the same time your RM goes inside between the def and mid.f lines to look for the ball . He has fast feet and good with the ball , he is much more dangerous near the box than just staying wide and making those crosses , you have enough cardio to go up and down and the same time you can make the same good crosses .

    In RB role seems you have a little support from your mids, resulting in wing play, which was obviously your opponents plan. Try not to play so fast at the beginning, give your mids a chance to position themselves. Without them you are destined for a pass to your winger. Give it time, hold the ball, move left and right, show your opponent that you could play with left foot also, or right with false pass. Slower is faster sometimes. Anyway - great learning, and awesome commentary! Good job mate!

    I'm Sorry bro, but your 1st mistake was when you froze and all you did was stare at the ball and didn't open up to drop on the out side to support your teammate. This is on minute 2:55.
    Just clarifying that.👍🏼

  • @mkfc3887
    @mkfc3887 ปีที่แล้ว

    1:53 shouldn't be you checking, it should be 28. Right now the shape is such that one player can mark both 28 and 17, so the balance of the midfield needs to be fixed; you dropping into that space leads to three center mids being in functionally a straight line. Ball progression with short passes becomes impossible!
    3:04 I think you're being a little harsh on yourself. The pass you got was at a really uncomfortable height and weight so the one two is difficult to execute within one or two touches especially because the ball is realistically on your non-dominant leg and into the direction that the pressure is coming from. You should have played it to the right back though :)
    4:18 you have so much space and time if you cut into the middle of the field. Instead you put the ball back to the winger which causes a 1 on 3 situation which means the direction that the ball is going to go will always be back
    9:55 your extra touch cuts off the pass to the left winger, which I think is the better pass; the reason being is that it allows you to contribute to the play afterwards as well. If you play the ball to the left the travel time allows you to get into the box and provide another option; playing it to the right means you're out of the play unless the right back delays his decision.
    11:30 My opinion is that if you went to the far post it would have been more productive. The reason is that it forces the defense to make a decision of either moving their center back out of the center. You can still crash into the center from the far post, but if the ball goes to the far post you don't have an opportunity to take a shot because you'd be moving AWAY from the goal.
    17:10 Really sucky situation because your center mids aren't tracking back. Leaves a two on two from a long ball which should never happen. If you know they wont cover, I wouldn't even go for the header here, I'd drop and maintain the man advantage in the back, but not sure if this is a common thing for your squad
    19:22 love the honesty to say this wasn't the best ball. I think what you should be looking at is the fact that your team has a numerical advantage on your side. Prioritize that over better field position, maintain possession, force the opposing team to either commit more players and THEN hit the cross or just score from this side!
    21:09 what if you checked instead of coming out wide? Your wide midfielder was wide, so that option was on already; you cutting wide doesn't create an extra passing option! If you stay tucked but do a hard check, you're creating one on one situations both for yourself and the wide midfielder!
    22:36 If you play this pass one touch, the center mid receives the ball with space and time. To be fair, the weight of the pass you're getting is a little soft which makes a one touch pass a little bit more difficult
    Overall, I think you do a brilliant job of eliminating players with active first touches, but I think you can do a better job of moving the ball one touch when available. I think you have the capacity to be a much more dangerous player in the attacking third if you clean up your positioning and decision making on the elbow of the box; you're a good crosser but a lot of times that's not the optimal option!
    Anyways, sorry for armchair experting your video, hope it was at least interesting!
