She showed so much trust, courage, strength and determination, she deserves to be given a chance!... Keep Little Barn Cat...
You can always buy a tractor later... For now, you can rent one or see if one of your neighbors can let you use theirs...

I have seen cats missing their tail and a limb and totally blind cats live a wonderful life ( I rescue cat from all sorts of conditions)...
Never underestimate cats' abilities to adapt and thrive!...
Plus, Little Barn Cat is only two... She has a good chance to fully recover...
Unlike humans, they live life to the present and to the fullest no matter the disability...
Although she was in hurendous pain, in the worst conditions (cats will hide to die when in such bad condition), she crawled back to them... That's THEM she thought of when scared and in pain...
Killing her after she showed so much strength, trust, courage and has a good chance to survive would be disrespectful and heartless...
She wanted to live!... She deserves to live!...
N Knighton I watched a family spend $10k and go financially burdened by an injured chihuahua. Priorities are NOT RIGHT when the injured barn cat is put above the entire family farm. You replace the cat and move on, if that upsets you then don’t be a farmer.
N Knighton lil isnt a lost cause a shattered pelvis and a ruptured bladder isnt a death sentence it may be terrible for an older cat but lil is still young and she already looks better then the day they found her if it was an older cat yea id understand itd be tougher however young animals are more quick healers a long road of recovery yes but shed have a normal life ive seen animals with worse conditions pull through dont put down an animal that will heal with around the same quality of life theyve had before its disgusting that youd even type that you love cats yet youd put down a cat that can be saved? If it was a cat that had way more injuries then lil itd be a slightly easier call but your talking about your family member would you want you family to put you down if you had a broken hip and ruptured bladder? No i wouldnt and id only put down my pet if they couldnt be saved yes its a lot of money but that money is saving a family member that CAN be saved and CAN still have a good quality of life
@@mattandrews8528 If you merely see your animals as things to be "replaced" and feel apathy when they die, then you also should not be a farmer. Besides, their farm isn't going to fail because they don't have a brand new tractor. Lol
I grew up with cats. We had one little ferocious cat (named Sleepy, lol). A great hunter. She live until 21 years old. She was an indoor-outdoor cat and when she started having age related health issues, she wandered outside to hide under a bush. I found her very weak that night, brought her in and put her in a cat bed. She had passed by morning. She had known it and went to hide to die. I'm glad Lil came back to you. She wants to fight and you are giving her that chance.

I lost my cat this last march. It's been really hard to overcome his passing because I grew up with him and bonded on level I didn't know was possible between humans and animals. We spent almost all our time together.
It wasn't a matter that I had power over and I would have sacrificed almost anything to keep him with me. There's no reason you need to justify your actions in saving a member of your family. My best wishes to your family and the farm. I'll have lil in my prayers.

@@GoldShawFarm Almost lost my Persian/Scottish fold which you can see in my pic/profile. He was blocked in his privates area and we had to take him to the best hospital around our area. After 2 days of hospitalization and surgery it came to $4,700 with taxes and narcotics/anti-inflammatories/antibiotics/eye-drops.
NJ is expensive, but if you want your pet to live you gonna have to spend. Also, this $4700 was the second time it happened and fortunately NOW we have pet insurance that covers 90% of any expenses.
Also, this was the second time a family friend came to our rescue and paid in full each time for his surgery/unblocking of urethra. Two days ago he had permanent surgery to enlarge his urethra for life, which means zero blockage in the future or less than 1% chance of anything.
Get Healthy Paws insurance, it will pay off big time.
The country need some kind of Pet Medicare so that owners dont go bankrupt.
@@GoldShawFarm Maybe put some speed bumps in your farm area, so that trucks dont speed and run over anything else lol. Maybe signs that livestock/pets roam?
@@diy5729 Unfortunately an evil psychopath human in prison will get treatment, rather than a good worthwhile pet, but poor good folk lag getting treatments, so pets will be up to us. You did what is the right thing to do as I have done.
@@MrKaypet I know what you mean, and i mean that a lot of folks dont have the luxury of rich friends to rescue them.
While i was waiting in the lobby of the vet hospital, i saw many people who were clearly upset and crying with their pets still alive. Which meant many of them meant euthanasia. Thats what the doctor told us, pay $4700 upfront or euthanasia.
I would say that 99% of pet owners put down their pets rather than shell out 500+ dollars. The treatments/surgeries/drugs are out of reach of people.
I love the FaceTime idea. She can't really tell it's you on the screen, but she should recognize your voice. I wonder if a small thing like a hand towel with your scent on it would make her feel at home.
The strength of will to get herself home in that condition, shows how tough she is. Not just Lil Gold Barn Cat. Lil Gold Armored Barn Cat.

My dog had my used t-shirt, while my cat had the blanket from his favorite sleeping place.
I think the animals definitely seem calmer when they have something with a familiar scent with them.
My Dad was in the hospital a few days after a fall and his dog got so depressed without him, but she’d hear him over the phone talking to me or my mum and would instantly perk up and get excited

@@deannamoreton8253 they crawl away obviously because they are injured. In the wild it just means they hide to recuperate, they obviously don't want to die, they just increase their chances of survival by not being easily found by predators.
i'd choose my dogs over any material thing any day - like you said not the best financial choice but the best choice for the heart
You should write a children’s book about Lil Barn Cat. It would be a wonderful story about unconditional love and not giving up! You can tell by the look on your face when you were FaceTiming with her just how much you love her. You, my friend, are definitely a cat person! ☺️☺️☺️😖😖

You know what I find remarkable about this? She had a shattered pelvis and even though it took her a day and half she made her way home. The resilience and strength she showed right there is enough to tell you she will make it. Go Lil’ Barn Cat, my prayers are for you. 🙏🏼

The surgeries, plus meds, plus staying in the vets office is probably going to cost between 5-8 thousand dollars.
So worth it, though! Lil is worth more than an inbred cat people pay too much money for. Save Lil.

Please don’t attribute thoughts to me that are not mine. I am talking the reality of what they can expect to pay and that knowledge came from spending that much money to save our dog who became very ill from an infected bladder and prostate.
And not everyone can afford to make that choice, so it is NOT a matter of throwing away a broken toy for them...it is a heartbreaking situation they have no control over, so do try to grow some empathy to replace that judgmental self righteous attitude.

My family and especially my toddler are all wishing the best for Lil Barn Cat! We spent thousands to save the life of our dog and has to crowdfund a lot of it, but she pulled through, and I'm hoping the same happens for Lil. Animals are family and you do what you need to do to save your family. ❤️

Lil is a part of the family, and family cannot be replaced. Money will always come and go, but the time with your loved ones is limited. Thank you for putting her first.

We're stewards in this life to the animals we take into our homes (and barns). Anything less than our best efforts to save them is not enough. I'm so happy to see you doing whatever you need to save your girl.
I used to say I would never spend more than 1K on one of my pets until I rescued a cat, then a cat adopted me and then my wife brought her cat with her when we married. They brought so much joy and affection into our lives that when the time came the money was low on the priority list.
I realize that many homesteaders and farmers think this is crazy. But when we open our homes and hearts to an animal it ceases being livestock and becomes a part of the family. They pick up their cues from us and cats and dogs can form a bond to us.
You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat their animals. Morgan, I hope to meet you in person one day! You clearly have a big heart!
It's not crazy at all. Pets are as much family as we are. I dropped a grand on my baby duckling after she aspirated her food and got pneumonia. She had to be in intensive care for a week, at just four days old. I don't regret it at all.
I farm and I don’t think it’s crazy. Livestock and pets are completely different. I’d do whatever is in my financial ability to save my two German shepherds and keep their quality of life. They are what got me through the worst of my colon cancer diagnosis and gave me motivation to meep going every day instead of just laying in bed and giving in to despair. They are true family.
She’s still alive, that’s just half the battle. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

I have been sobbing along with you n the last video. I understand the heart ache. My oldest daughter had an older cat that was injured similarly, but with his age the prognosis of recovery was slim to none. My daughter had to make the tough decision to let him go. The vet let her sit with him while he crossed the rainbow bridge. I pray Lil gets better and has a complication free recovery. All I can offer I’m afraid is prayers. My family got Covid at the beginning of June so we have been out of work all month so it’s VERY tight. God bless & good luck. You, Allison & Lil are in my prayers.
The updates are the best , The calls to her are the life line she so needs ,I hope she has good days so the next surgery can happen and she can get home to you both for the rest of her care and love . This is crushing

It hurts to lose them but I always think about how that situation also means I get a chance to know and love another beautiful creature. They don’t replace the one you lose, ever, but are more like a new branch on the tree, and you can love them without betraying your lost pet - love has no scarcity. So I wish you peace, and a new cat companion :)

Everybody knows we don't own cats. They own us.
Holden Edwards that is kinda how it happened. Humans developed agriculture and cats took advantage of all the mice it attracted, it wasn’t humans that chose to domesticate cats to get rid of mice, humans already had dogs and they were pretty good at it. That definitely changed when humans developed breeding though.
@@dragonofepics7324 Yup! As we began to store grain, it attracted mice, and cats came to eat them. Then they said "hey... it's kinda nice to have a full belly and sleep in a warm hut, gettin' pet by these big naked tall things. I think I'll stick around."
I had a cat I called "Lil", for "lil One". She was skittish, but I loved her. She passed away 2 years ago of old age. I miss her a bunch. Just keep loving her, she'll be fine.

If they were sick or injured they quietly met a quick demise... I only found this out as an adult... And now I am still grieving the loss of my childhood friends... Ah shit i was crying the whole way through. This made me think of my mums cat. She died a year ago in a car accident. I miss her. I really really wish Lil all the strength and the best possible outcome.
