I sold 50% of my QQQ portfolio yesterday with a 530$ trigger. To be honest, I think we will have a bear market during 2025. 1. I'm working in software engineering and we are currently hiring for a new position. We have 5x candidates than we had 1 year ago, 10x than we had 2 years ago. Not only that, but many of them mentioned that they are looking for a new job because they got laid off. 2. My friend is working in AGCO, where there were a ~10% layoff too. Not sure for how long the mag7/mag10 hold the market up, while all the other companies are seriously struggiling. PEs are high, Inflation is rising again, obvious problems with unemployments, yet the stock market is hitting all time highs day by day. I'm keeping my long term portfolio, but to be honest I am considering safer options, like KO or treasuries for short and mid term.
I bought puts pn spy during last weeks huge rally One is for may....and the other is for Jan 26. Out of the money puts. I don't care if it might be too soon, I can always buy more and lower my average. I have time.
"I have time" lol said everyone for the last 365 days. Unless you invested at the one or two exact right spots, you got railed. Probably like you're going to this time. @@rovermom
Hi there, I have a quick question, planning on rolling my covered calls on Tesla expiring on Dec 20th , will be doing so for first time, would it be better to roll them when it’s a down dsy for Tesla or when it’s green ?? Will really appreciate kind reply
Hi Katty… Can I run something past you to see what you think… I sold 100 Tesla @ 345 = 34,500… Then 100 Tesla @ 405 = 40,500… What if I sold another 100 @ 450 = 45,000 Then 100 @ 480 = 48,000 total of 168,000 which Divided by 400 shares = 420 so when I buy back in let’s say 400 I could gain 20 shares… like nobody knows were the top or bottom is, but by averaging out & averaging in helps getting closer to the top & bottom… & if you are following me… Would you make the next step at 450 or 480? In case we go straight to 520? I know options would be better but I do prefer Shares… like I say… even if I offload 400 Shares I would still have 1,000 for long term… let me know what you think please 👍
I’m waiting to trim for the Santa rally… some people say it already started but looking back it seems to be the last week of December and into the next of the new year when it has striked according to my portfolio. I think TSLA and NVDA have room to run into 2025. I think the overall market will breadth out. GLD will go up. Over this past week and coming week we may see down days due to tax loss harvesting. I’ve just been buying on those days. I’m up 62% for the year! My hedge fund buddies refer to me as the stock queen. 👸 I think it was a great year for many of us who stayed the course! PS. Keep in mind Trump loves the market! 🤑
What’s a reasonable strategy for a simple starting portfolio? Skim off profits and keep the original amount invested? In the past year it paid off to stay invested.
This works to an extent. I used similar on PLTR. Had 30k off 7. As we worked into 83 high I've sold my core down to only 5k. You eventually hit a point where you have to stop selling to maintain your final desired core minimum. So unless you have another cash flow system you're now kinda caught. To get around this, I don't sell anymore PLTR shares for cash flow I sell calls for premium
rebalance every day using stop losses to gain capital and reinvest into the etf sector.😛its been an amazing 4 weeks but as you say things are cooling off. ..

And bonds. I've tracking them. They rose short term higher than long term...innthe last 5 days they been dropping hard compared to 20.

Rolling covered calls are best during up days.

Why don't you sell a spread? Eg bull put spread is delta neutral and not as risky as your setup for Tsla.
