    I like that "hook your outside hip to the rail" put your weight in the direction your going. when I try to hard, I get nothing. Just need to get out of my own way.

    This was extremely helpful. I am in the process of retraining a resistant horse at the trot, so I have been doing in hand work. I am just starting shoulder in with him, and he seems to hold tension in his shoulders. Part of the in hand work has been Spanish Walk hoping to engage his shoulders and attain looseness and lightness. Thanks for such a detailed explanation of the aids.

    so would one say it’s the same aids for canter..? …I thought I may have heard that before, with the use of inside rein, steady on outside, inside leg at girth and outside leg behind the girth…
