As for the song sounding bland, I'll agree that it did sound quite samey, but as for the "going back to the more poppy, dancey" style, I personally think this is one of his better if not best solo song imo. Also we do gotta mention how he and dgd separated due to them feeling like he didn't fit their heavier stuff they wanted to do, so he probably also tried to do a heavier less poppy dancey song to kinda spite dgd and show he can do different/heavier sounds (and I do think he did a great job imo)
