it is great to see these classics being restored and well cared for! i remeber as a kid going to the arcade in the early 80's and they would have three black knight pinball machines in a row with the sound cranked. the video game version is cool, but nothing surpasses the actual experience of playing one of these machines...the cold metal, the glass the feel of the flipper buttons... excellent restoration, man!
Nice Machine, I've had my BK for several years. Great Idea sealing the backglass. I've got a good original backglass on mine plus a scraper on the wall that was never sealed. Thanks for posting your video.
My absolute FAVORITE pinball machine back in the early 80's at a game room called Flipper McCoy's in Norfolk, Virginia. I used to tear this machine UP! I remember these sounds like it was yesterday. Thanks for this! Good times. I would love to buy one of these before I die and challenge the Black Knight yet again!
I have had this game in my basement for 20+ years now, need a major tune up and some play field art work restored. Steeljaws game room aka Jeff thanks for posting........ the magnet save feature on this game is really awesome.

My friend is the one trying to fix it. It was doing crazy stuff, like the displays "sweeping" across like playfield insert lights would. It would shut off intermittently and/or blank out. My bud is a great mechanic, and he doesn't know what else to do. He will take another crack at it after he works on other games.
Well the impossible has happend. We can now play a emulated version of this game (along with many others) on a video game for living room TV. The game is called "Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection" has 13 tables. I can't believe the graphic detail, the sound accuracy, and the physics! Seems like I'm back in the arcade in 1980! If you don't have a PlayStation 3, you may want to get it just for this game. IT'S THAT AWESOME!
Cool! Do you have any pictures or movies of your Black Knight? My BK is at my brothers place, as I don't have the room for it at home. I was visiting there last week and got a score of 1.3 million. The settings are 5 balls per game. Thanks for watching!
This is a 1980 machine?? Looks pretty advanced for the time.. what with the multiball, synthesized speech and dual levels; especially when you match it up to games like Gorgar, Space Invaders, or Galaxy.
Thanks for your comment and your compliment. 1. It's my brother playing, not me. I'll beat you with two fingers in my nose. :) 2. Please let me decide on how I setup my own machine. I am not and will never miss the point of playing pinball. ;)
It says the phrase 'I cannot slay you, You win' when a free game is awarded. Mine does that pretty often, so I don't have to add credits too often. You can change the score on which a free game is given in the game menu. If you need any further help, drop me a PM. Good luck!
I just worked out my Black Knight is set so it gives an X-tra Ball insted of a credit (thats why) so it would only say (Fight again me, the Black Knight). Tip for you, if you want youre Black Knight set to free play go into game Ajustments and go to function 18. and set the maximum credits to ,00 . you can doo vire the credit buton and door switches... cheers !!
I have a BK machine and love it but.....it's given me SO MANY PROBLEMS. I love the machine personally (great art, excellent design and play), but it's been a nightmare mechanically. My friend is a tech and it still gives him a hard time finding the culprit. Is this common on BK, or just mine specifically? I don't want to sell it, but I need to know if it's worth hanging on to....
That would be the sequel to Black Knight. It's called Black Knight 2000. The song goes: "You've got the power, You've got the might! Get ready for battle, Beat the Black Knight!" During the song it would taunt you saying things like "No way!" and Give me your money!" Black Knight 2000 is a cool machine, but I prefer the gameplay of the original Black Knight.
You lucky dog. I've got this puppy, but i don't have the original back glass. Worst of all it doesn't work. It used to, but it kept breaking. I recently came super close to fixing it, but the score displays stopped coming on, and now all that happens when i turn it on is the lights turn on. I can't even get a game started anymore. It would actually be awesome if somebody could help me out with some suggestions. Im clueless.
notice the S on slay is deliberately emphasized so machine isnt misheard to say "the BK will LAY you!" Bit like puckman changed to pacman for US market
The Bally solid states killed these Williams machines in the 80s. No comparison, the flipper mechanisms were so much more robust too, they stayed strong because the linkage was well designed. Good luck hitting that left ramp with those Williams flippers.
I admire how you've restored the machine...it's my favorite. Now, you just have to learn how to play it. You should get all three balls locked in the first three plunges. Also, obviously you have it set where you don't have to put money in it so, for god's sake, change the minimum score for a free game to at least a million (not to mention the requirements for an extra ball). You're missing the whole point of playing pinball.

This table always had it in for me...as did most Williams machines. Always drained down the sides.
pure "classic" ... and always this nice feeling, simply by watching you playing ;)
Williams always produced the best sounds in the arcade.
Yep, childhood memories on holidays

Thanks for uploading this! A friend of my dad's had this pinball game.
This game was almost brand new when first played it back when I was about 8 years old in 1981

This went so well with the Judas Priest and Saxon records of the day.

This. machine. is. brutal
The newwer pinballs mave more features but you can't beat the early SS games. Nice BK!!
Didn't this one used to play music? I remember it being catchy as hell. LOL.

Magna save feature is cool on this game too though
What kind of problems do you have? Some problems can be solved for a longer time relatively easy.
amo esta maquina

@jeffhanson1 : yes nice game, but why not also trying visual pinball ? ;)
sounds like Defender
I put sounds from the game on my voice mail, lol

I seem to remember it laughed at you rather dismissively when you made some specific mistake.
no, the one you are talking about is black knight 2000.
Do you know how to reset the machine.

i use to destroy this machine...rolled it at more than one location
SFXs are really annoying.
