Aeterna is the moment just before a star explode into a supernova!!
Ayreon footprints indeed, gives me vibes back to the Ayreon album Transitus, and especially the song Daniels decent into Transitus..
I belive this is gonna be a very diverse album, heard a song would be in Dutch, so thats kind of what i exept..
    Great reaction, and great song..

Epica fan here and really love this song. Heard that her other songs wont sound so Ayreon. This song was ment to invite Epica and Ayreon fans to get together, in way building a bridge between the fans.

The drummer is Koen Herfst and on bass you hear Rob van der Loo.

Although I'm not religious, I'm still willing to believe that Simone is the avatar of several goddesses rolled into one. For me she's on the same tier as Floor and this song makes a great, and welcome, contrast to the blackened death that I mostly listen to. I loved it. Cheers Hedgy.

She is every bit on Floor level and for me she’s my favorite metal goddess I love the pristine beauty of her voice and her trained diction is absolutely perfect much like Tommy Karevick of Kamelot in that regard

Yeah, this song is VERY Ayreon, and that was intentional for the first release-they’ve called it a marriage for Ayreon and Epica’s fandoms, and they’ve also said the rest of the album will be more diverse and experimental-they actually noted taking influence from Rammestein! She’s also going to sing in Dutch and German for the first time, which should be really cool. I’m really excited!!
This song is beautiful and a great album opener-it just sounds HUGE, just so theatrical and atmospheric, like a space opera! And the choir was literally just Simone and a male singer with the vocals layered, which is really cool! Still, I kind of already know this song won’t be my favorite. The production is the real star of this song-Simone’s vocals are flawless as always, but this isn’t a track where she’s showing off, and I can’t wait to hear one where she *does.*
The next single will be out on June 6th! It’s called In Love We Rust, and what makes me excited is that Simone and Arjen have both said it’s their favorite on the album. Supposedly it’ll be a bit more melodic and catchy, and from the name/theme I wonder if it will be a ballad.

As I noted in the comments on the original, this could easily be part of Star One or Transitus. The more I listen to this, the more I love it.
As of this comment (8/23), the album dropped yesterday and the fourth video from this album dropped today. Cradle to the Grave features Simone and Alissa White-Gluz. It's a banger. I've really enjoyed each of the songs on the album. Simone did a great job on her first solo project!

The album is supposed to be very diverse, but they (Simone & Arjen) wanted this to be the first release because it was the most similar to Epica & Ayreon.
The bass sound was unmistakably Rob Van Der Loo from Epica.

Yeah that's very Ayreon all right, lost of fiddling with the synth knobs and all that in there. Little less full sound than Ayreon typically, maybe less musicians involved and it's mostly just Arjen Lucassen. Also bit more to symphonic metal/prog direction than Ayreon typically.
Video director really wanted to show off Simone I guess lol, not that I'm complaining really.

The music couldn't grab me, but her voice is great!

I'm not that into Ayreon. I know it has to do with symphony and bombastic rock/metal. So, perhaps we have a new couple now? Simone Lukassen?...
