You're right. Eve started getting really fun when I just said "screw it" and started going into low/null. It's all about flying smart and knowing what to look for. Now I'm spending tons of times in wormholes, where my corpmates live. Edge of the seat stuff. Gotta get out there and explore.
I loved you video and I admire the balls it must have taken for a 2 months player to say those things in all honesty in front of the eve community. You have my respect. Also awesome content man, very inspiring!
i went to 3 -0.1 systems after watching you, my heart was raising my hands were shaking the most scariest thing i ever did in a game lol, the first system was empty but the third one there were 14 player in it, man! the adrenaline, but i'm not doing it again until i got my covert ups ship.
Learn about the "cloak-mwd" trick. It really helps. But as for me, i'm dualboxing (at least), and the first (scouting) ship is T3/cloaky/agile/immune to bubbles. Almost uncatchable.
I've been playing for about a month now (Your videos Wingspan, motivated me to get into it). I started exploring and within the first week I made over 250M, only playing for a few of those days. I got an Astero that first week and almost got killed by some players, Zulu alliance I think. They caught me, but spared me and recommended that I join Brave Newbies. I joined Brave and it has been a blast. You do learn a lot from them, especially about PVP, because we are at war with so many other corps. Null sec isn't too bad, you will lose ships, but as you are careful, it won't be too bad. The times that I have lost ships, it was because of my own carelessness.
WiNGSPAN TT Im using a stratios for high sec exploring (yes i am paranoid :) ) but high sec exploring kinda sucks with an occasional 5/10 DED site the rewards are really bad and hardly worth the effort. Currently i have moved into null sec for exploring and that was a HUGE improvement in terms of loot. I only do Relic sites so in that regard i may have limited myself a bit but i use a Raptor to do it. Ship and fitting is 20 million, so 1 relic site and you are likely to earn that back. Down site is you have no bonus to hacking so hacking sucks. I use a virus mod and a virus implant. You should check out Johnny Pew's video. Just search on raptor exploring.
The Hex Grid look is still available in the old map, still in the game. Set your World Map Controls under Tiles, uncheck No Tiles, and check Show Outlines, and show unflattened.
God, like every once and a while you say some stuff that cracks me up! "Yeah, this is the Great Wild Lands, but I haven't seen any space deer or bears." lol
I went into null-sec via a wormhole in my second week of my trial account, into Insmother. Wound up in the Great Wildlands, started scanning at the sun, then BAM! Astros on grid, not aligned, locked up, scrammed, dead. Managed to get out in my pod, only to run head first into a gate camp. Lost 42 million ISK worth of stuff, but it was absolutely hilarious. 10/10 would get ganked again.
Combat scanner probes can't find a cloaked ship with max target compensation skills. It dampens them because the sensor damping is to high and your sensor booster is maxed out in that race ship type.
Hey WingspanTT..love your vids man..im currently working on the prerequisite skills to join your corp as an astero pilot..just wanted to ask if you still have places in your corp and if so how long do applicants normally wait after requesting to join? .. and if i join as an astero pilot am i stuck to that ship?
+Jason Murphy hey yes we are recruiting! The wait is typically a few days but it depends how often you are online. No if you start with Astero qualifications you can fly whatever you want
Is there any video available to show the best way to explore I would love to know, just started with a sort of basic explorer/mission runner and I don't think I could make as much money as I could. Also how was your ship so expensive compared to the start ?
Exploration looks so cool. I did one or two sites years ago when it first came out, but I don't remember an interactive puzzle you had to solve. I think I'll spend my stockpile of SoE lp and get one of those cruisers ^^
I agree with you that you don't need 6 month's experience to move to low-sec and beyond. You don't even need 3 months, I went in my second week on eve as soon as I had a corp would could tell me what to do. That's the key to low- and null-sec, knowing what to do, how to use d-scan, how to make safes that kind of stuff. As a new player with no corp it can take you along time before you can reach that point. But, if you join a low-sec corp they will teach you those things. I went on my first null-sec trip a few weeks ago with a t1 explo ship with t1 modules. I didn't lose my ship and made over 200mil in 1 day, just because I knew how to react on situations and deal with them properly( and because I had luck with hacking sites ;). Don't be afraid of the game, the best way to learn is through failure, just don't risk something you can't afford to lose.
Paranoia keeps us vets alive! Especially in nullsec. When we jump into a system and see anyone, we assume they are in a combat ready ship. When you play as long as us vets (I'm going on 11 years in this game now), you've been pretty much killed in every possible scenario. So you know what to expect at every turn.
it's so funny how video number XV starts with "this ship costs about 750 times of what my first ship had cost. I'm moving up in the world" and video number XVI shows a pod and the title reads "my terrible, horrible, no-good very-bad day"!
I have a challenge for you wingspan, do a tour through the Catch region :P I am a newb, and you would probably move through the region better than I do, but I recommend that you don't take anything expensive there. Even if you don't do a video, I think it would be cool for you to check it out. It's where Brave Newbies is based, and I'd say that it's probably a little more active than most other null sec regions.
I am actually playing on 2 monitors. Normally I just show that left monitor, but every now and then there is something worth showing on both so I zoom out or pan over. It takes up a LOT of hard drive space for recording, though!
I've been roaming around in null sec the past few days and it seems like most of the data and relic sites, like a vast majority of them, are swarming with rats that I can't deal with at my level (I'm still quite new to EVE). Is this something that is random or it is the location I'm in? I've spent a lot of time scanning down sites just to find I can't loot them.
Regarding your point on "More people should go into low/nullsec". I started playing EVE Online a little bit over two weeks ago. Went into -1.0 WH during my second week with a non-cloaked Imicus with almost no modules, cracked a few relic sites and went out with 60kk ISK. It was a fun experience but my heart was bumping the whole time because I had no clue what I was doing and I'm super paranoid. It was super fun and I'll go exploring again.
Started playing this in 2009 played it for 3years had 2 accounts. Then just had a string of bad luck so had to take a break. But I gotta say I've been wanting to go back to eve recently
K.C. Hartman some what it's a all mouse control game and I'm not liking it after the 14 day trial if your looking for a good game in my opinion then get planetside 2 for PC but remember K.C. it has very high requirements for computer specs
Hahahah The large t2 scanning rig blueprint. Was really happy when I found that one. :I But hey, last week I found something even better: capital sized t2 speedtanking rigs. HELL YEAH, WHY DO THEY EVEN EXIST

Gugukax When you open either the solar system or star system map, a small window pops up on your screen (or it may be minimized in your UI bar on the left). The window has view options for your map, it also has a big button that lets you switch between solar/star maps.
tommy hoad Covops Cloak, Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, 3x meta 4 Energy Neutralizer, Relic Analyzer II, 10 MN MWD, Data Analyzer II, whatever you want for last mid, bottom slots are usually 4x nanos and 1 stab or something, could be tanked for ghost sites as well.
I'm a part of Brave Newbies Inc. right now. It was really fun living in WH space for a few days, I made a lot of ISK from PI but we were seiged and had to leave the WH. I'm probably going to do some null sec exploration when I've trained up Amarr Frigates to level 5 and I'm able to use a covert ops. I'm hoping to explore around Catch so that I stay active with the corp. I'm not sure if you would want to do this, but it would be entertaining to see you do an exploration run around catch; as some Eve players have already said, 'Catch is on fire!'. Also, I have a ton of blueprints held up at Amarr, do I have to contract them out in order to sell them or do you know of a better place to sell blueprints? Another request: do you think you'll be able to do a complete tour of New Eden; I've seen people like JonnyPew do it and it was really good, but it would be quite entertaining to see you do it in the future. It would also give you some bragging rights from what I've heard from veteren Eve players.
WiNGSPAN TT I have almost 2 million SP at the moment, I'm training Contracting to Level 3 so that I can get rid of a load of BPCs. Unfortunatley, BPCs aren't worth a lot because they have limited uses. Also, I'm at Amarr so that I can sell all of my loot; Jita is overrun by Marmite and a load of other war targets at the moment.
joshbaggy1 I would unload BPCs by putting 10 of your worst BPCs in one contract and sell it at a reduced group price. So if they're all about 15 mill each, sell them 10 for 110 million.
WiNGSPAN TT Ok, thanks for the tips. Hope I finally get some ISK out of these BPCs, they've been clogging up my storage space in Amarr for a few weeks now.
i know this is an old video, but i found the exploration guide a few days ago, built a fairly decent imicus and jumped into null. didnt live long lol. as of watching this vid ive bought an astero and fit it out per your guide. still flying the imicus for practice while i train for the covert ops cloak. Sure i could go back to mining hisec, and continue safely making millions. But thats boring as fuck! lol thanks for the motivation to risk a very expensive boat :)
I work high sec for mining. 4-5 mill per hour on a good run in a Venture with miner I's. (smallest noob mining setup). Not bad, for someone who's been playing for only a week.
***** LOL, because it's not real. You need 1-2 months to skill for a nice fit cruiser. I assume he is doing exploration in a Stratios. That would explain the shitloads of isk. I now make about 6-7 per hour in my newer mining ship. How long would it take to pay for a 230 mil ship? More than a week, that's for sure. I would need all of my skills, the Astronomics to V, and each of the three x4 side skills to at least IV, for scanning rigs. Hacking V. To fly the ship, need two racial skills to III. Need to have drones V, other drone skills, because that's the Stratios main weapon. I will need cloaking IV, and also covert ops to get the bonus for the ship. Now to fit the ship, CPU and PG fitting skills to V, all core skills to V as well to be able to do anything in null. Total time for 40-50 mil per hour, several months. , And 300 mil for the initial ship. Welcome to EVE Online. :(
WiNGSPAN TT well FCON is currently on deployment to Geminate. annoying XIX and the Russians. btw if you need a hand with anything hit me up hehe. I'm only in Branch.
I don't know about the great wildlands guys when you recorded this video but now Ur not going in there unless you (a. belong to their alliance or (b. you want to lose your ship.
I bet I can go there anytime I want and they can't do shit about it! I've had a sensor boosted sniper set of the gate by two T3's and they couldn't lock me up. The last word I seen from them was "How the fuck did he do that" In local! Skill my friend, skill.
Well with a bit of luck I can survive their instalocks with my covop Astero but after I survived one with 3% structure points left I decided to use the safer and longer route to highsec.
1. Yes there are million dollar cars, like the Ferrari enzo. There are even $2,000,000 cars like the bugatti veyron. 2. I think you meant 4 million isk, not 4 thousand. Lol.
I just started playing now its free to play and I have to say this game reminds me of that cold war ere "game theory" type thing invented by the beautiful mind bloke who went mad. It basically pre supposes that everybody is out to fuck you. Indeed the name of the game was actually called "fuck you buddy". In other words this game makes people think in a very paranoid way. Personally I dont give a shit if i get killed. I dunno what all the fuss is about. Just buy another fucking ship jeez. Anyway thanks for the vid (belatedy)
I am one of the dicks that will ambush you lol. I make my money for PvP through industry so if I am in space I am in space for pew pew. My Stratios is dual rep, dual prop, web & scram hotdropper :D.
You might want to stop using that safespot and depot. People know the name of the Mobile Depot and the name of the the associated Pilot - thats all you need for a really nasty trap.
Aleksandr Kerensky 17Silben I lied. I never moved it. But it has been 1 month and it has never been attacked. Looks like my subs are too lazy to come out to Cache and mess with me. =P
21:9 screens are just dope for EvE.
Loving it myself
OMG my old corp! Suddenly TH-cam wanted me to see this. Praise the algorithm!
Its impressive how long you can talk by yourself :)
You're right. Eve started getting really fun when I just said "screw it" and started going into low/null. It's all about flying smart and knowing what to look for.
Now I'm spending tons of times in wormholes, where my corpmates live. Edge of the seat stuff. Gotta get out there and explore.

Were your knees weak? Palms sweaty? Was there vomit on your Heron already?
WiNGSPAN TT Null spaghetti?
Learn about the "cloak-mwd" trick. It really helps. But as for me, i'm dualboxing (at least), and the first (scouting) ship is T3/cloaky/agile/immune to bubbles. Almost uncatchable.
WINGSPAN TT there is no way I am going into nullsec until I PLEX my Alpha and get Cloaking to IV
I've been playing for about a month now (Your videos Wingspan, motivated me to get into it). I started exploring and within the first week I made over 250M, only playing for a few of those days. Yep, and working my way up to a Stratios. Just love the aesthetic of the two ships. o7

hmm.. should join Geemu (Nanashi No Geemu :P... you will definately learn on how to loose ships..j/k we teach stuff but the banter is mighty
I see Braves a lot, they often fly through my lawn :) And usually just kill'em, because they're definitely brave but... they're newbies :)
The Hex Grid look is still available in the old map, still in the game. Set your World Map Controls under Tiles, uncheck No Tiles, and check Show Outlines, and show unflattened.

NoobsofFredo you are my hero eve noobie
Christo Russouw Thank you. I try my best.
NoobsofFredo Great Wildlands is russian pirate alliances home. They have instalock jammers and guns that hit like a bear.
Your vids are getting me back into Eve, noticed you haven't uploaded in a while. Hope lifes going well for you :)
I really enjoyed this video. Not as exciting as the bomber series but informative and motivational. Thank you for the video!

how do you make your star map look like at the start?
What is best astero fit for null sec and low sec
Also is there any advice on personally placed stuff like mobile depots
can you show me that fit please?
Paranoia keeps us vets alive! Especially in nullsec. When we jump into a system and see anyone, we assume they are in a combat ready ship. Whats that grid you got at the map?
Subbed :)
Just getting back into EVE after a year-long sabbatical.
Hi Wingspan TT, Why is your map in hexa geometrical object.. what tool you use.. Sorry for noob questions
Since I made the video, EVE Online updated to a new map format. So I don't believe it's possible to still view the galaxy in this hex format anymore.
Tnx Win
It's still available. Though you have to manually drag it to your quickbar from your Neocon.
it's so funny how video number XV starts with "this ship costs about 750 times of what my first ship had cost. I'm moving up in the world" and video number XVI shows a pod and the title reads "my terrible, horrible, no-good very-bad day"!
Lmao
Can you add your fitting details to your vid info?
Im an explorer, I have an astero but I need a thorough explanation of wormholes and how you make money off of them. Somebody help please
i know this is very late posting but that joke about the animals made me lose my drnk through my nose.. great stuff man new sub here:)
How'd you highlight your map with hexagons like that?
could be like a mod or smt, if thats even a thing in eve
I would love to see you explore the Providence region once, very unique 0.0 space over there.
How the hell do you play with that camerashake on?
This almost makes exploration look beautiful ;) GJ GG Dreddit are recruiting
Is that the regular FOV or are you using some thing different?
I love your EVE videos like this wing
I have a challenge for you wingspan, do a tour through the Catch region :P
I am a newb, and you would probably move through the region better than I do, but I recommend that you don't take anything expensive there.

what did u just do with your screen display at around 5min? is it just editing the video or u have a massive screen with some weird option??
I am actually playing on 2 monitors. Normally I just show that left monitor, but every now and then there is something worth showing on both so I zoom out or pan over. It takes up a LOT of hard drive space for recording, though!
where can I find your fit at?
How safe are you from a torpedo delivery?
I've been roaming around in null sec the past few days and it seems like most of the data and relic sites, like a vast majority of them, are swarming with rats that I can't deal with at my level (I'm still quite new to EVE). Is this something that is random or it is the location I'm in? I've spent a lot of time scanning down sites just to find I can't loot them.
I think you are finding the worng sites, Relic and data sites don't have rats in them
I think you found sleeper sights and some can escalate and yes they can be brutal!

Subscribed. I'm following the guide as well!
what ship are you using?
Stratios
Thanks
Haven't played Eve, is it any good?
K.C. Hartman some what it's a all mouse control game and I'm not liking it after the 14 day trial if your looking for a good game in my opinion then get planetside 2 for PC but remember K.C. it has very high requirements for computer specs
Not a problem for my Dell Alienware then.....
is his stratios fit still viable ?
Hahahah
The large t2 scanning rig blueprint.
Was really happy when I found that one. :I
But hey, last week I found something even better:
capital sized t2 speedtanking rigs.
HELL YEAH, WHY DO THEY EVEN EXIST
Your map looks weird, but nice. What are your settings? Or is this some kind of add on like the overview profiles and colors you can download?
If you look at the tiny window that pops up when you open your map, you will notice there are radio buttons for "security stats" and "stats." If you click through the stats you can see where active/dangerous systems are, among other settings.
I couldn't find the setting where you get those hexagons and shit on the map... Where is that exacly? :)
Gugukax When you open either the solar system or star system map, a small window pops up on your screen (or it may be minimized in your UI bar on the left). The window has view options for your map, it also has a big button that lets you switch between solar/star maps.
what for do you use for that ship
You mean my fit?
yes
tommy hoad Covops Cloak, Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, 3x meta 4 Energy Neutralizer, Relic Analyzer II, 10 MN MWD, Data Analyzer II, whatever you want for last mid, bottom slots are usually 4x nanos and 1 stab or something, could be tanked for ghost sites as well.
k thx
I'm a part of Brave Newbies Inc. right now. It was really fun living in WH space for a few days, I made a lot of ISK from PI but we were seiged and had to leave the WH.
I'm probably going to do some null sec exploration when I've trained up Amarr Frigates to level 5 and I'm able to use a covert ops. I'm hoping to explore around Catch so that I stay active with the corp.

Yeah for BPCs you need to contract them out, but your best bet is in a major trade hub like Jita or Dodixie (sp?)
WiNGSPAN TT

I'm a relatively new player, I didn't know that the loot used to just float out of the can.
Boi, am I glad they changed that XD it looks so annoying.

Sorry about the rant. But it's true. I wish I could link you my deaths in the TH-cam comments...
How is PBLRD going for you :D
So far so good. I've always casually been an enemy of Legion of Death, now it's official haha.
WiNGSPAN TT
well FCON is currently on deployment to Geminate. annoying XIX and the Russians. btw if you need a hand with anything hit me up hehe. I'm only in Branch.
I sold my character 10 years ago. I really do miss it though!! Tons of sleepless nights lol...
Oh maaaan.... How big is your screen?
Thank god they got rid of that loot spew crap!!!
And yes there ARE cars that cost more than 750,000. Veyron, some Lamborghinis, Ferraris, classic cars....
yea but what does it meannnnn
That fit though
Buzzard is the best for exploration in low sec. Its cheap and you can stay stealthed the whole time. I made a billion in my first week.
"come to null, it's good for you", so you can "deliver" more torpedos? Stay in High Sec folks.
remove camera shake, makes the game so much easier.
Null sec may be the best sec, but W-space is best space ;)

10 years.
le'sigh
Today I don't think that you would still say 'Null Sec is Best Sec', would you?
+LordZaki haha nope
plenty of cars worth a helluva lot more than $750,000
:)
Who's ready for Kronos tomorrow! :D
Thear are cars that cost 1 million +
Your fit..... It makes my eyes bleed. OH GOD MY EYES!
what, no cars for 750k? Where have you been?
If u like null sec join cfc now! Cfc R0x
I don't know. When my wife plays she says NUT SAC is the best
Just do it.
They should open up player owned containers to be hackable
Andrew Bethel Or hack turrets/POS, but it requires multiple hackers and is difficult
Hector Woods Don't you think that it's pretty hard to hack a turret if it's shooting you?
Aksu560 Some way to offline them temporarily before you hack
Your scanning mods in mid slots DO WORK while you are cloaked... -_- they are buff mods, not active modules...
Never not cloak
i wanna play this game but i dont want to get ambushed by some players.
oh then its not for you lol
eventually you will get ambush and lose stuff, but then thats the fun.
Your last minute advice isn't viable just for EVE, or any other videogame ;)
I am one of the dicks that will ambush you lol. I make my money for PvP through industry so if I am in space I am in space for pew pew. My Stratios is dual rep, dual prop, web & scram hotdropper :D.
You might want to stop using that safespot and depot.
People know the name of the Mobile Depot and the name of the the associated Pilot - thats all you need for a really nasty trap.
OR OR OR this is all an elaborate trap on MY side to catch YOU!
He also said it would be moved lol
Aleksandr Kerensky 17Silben I lied. I never moved it. But it has been 1 month and it has never been attacked. Looks like my subs are too lazy to come out to Cache and mess with me. =P
Or we just don't feel like messing with somebody who puts out such good content :)
nice tips. but please stop clicking your tongue every 30 seconds... seriously.
Stay frosty
well we know you don't know much about cars lol
