The thing with Fluffy is that if he takes you down rd1, it's not a wrap right there. But that grappling exchange will wear you out, and it pretty much guarentees he'll take you down rd2 and probably get the finish there

I was super impressed with Steve erceg’s mat work Saturday. You can tell from 30 seconds into rolling that he has been on mats for a very very long time. That said I think Pantoja won the fight, but I was so impressed with Steve’s mat work

He lost to the crafty veteran Dustin from a caress on his chin, NOT due to BJJ submission. He easily wrestled Dustin to the floor. BSD's lacking is EXPERIENCE --- on how to out maneuver a very skilled, very experienced veteran --- not skills... especially BJJ skills. Give him 1 more year of 2-3 more fights and he likely will become one of the most feared Top 5.

@@willavery5124 I agree. So, the next question we could ask, as to why BSD wasn't able to press on with that set-up, with Dustin in trouble, was WHY? I can't say, since I have no direct INSIDER INFO, but I suspect it could be from the infection.
When a finger size wound appeared on your forehead, it is LIKELY internally, the infection could have impacted his immune a bit. That is especially true if you're also taking some medication --- approved by officials --- to stabilize that infection...
Just wondering here.
Because this BSD is a SPECIAL OPERATIONS GUY; you know how those guys operate in the real world: normal circumstances and hardships that drop 99.9999% of normal/average humans, special operations folks HAD TO PASS through, of they aren't getting into the US, French, or British special operations units....
But, again, when INFECTIONS --- trillions of tiny microbes have spread into some parts of body, with your immune system marshalling all of what it has to fight that foreign infection, and, also, with you taking some anti-biotics --- your body, even if it's an extraordinarily tough body... it could be in a compromised state...

Du Plessis is a B tier, that is one Lucas got wrong. Strickland is not even easy to take down at 185. Dricus has great takedowns, great back-takes, great rear-nked chokes, great mounts and control on the ground, and great front chokes (guillotines)

I think people confuse Colby's elite PURE WRESTLING skills for BJJ skills. And the word "grappling" is a good convoluted word they would use....
There is no doubt, if it's pure wrestling, not many people, including big guy Usman, would out technique, out cardio MAGA man; but since it is under MMA rules, not D1 rules, Colby doesn't always get to do all the pure D1 skills he could, in college.
In other words, Colby's pure BJJ and Leon's pure BJJ are on the same level; but whereas Colby came from a D1 background, Leon came from a pure striking background.
So while from the clinch on down to the mat, Colby would out maneuver Leon 6 out of 10 times, once they hit the mat, and it's mostly pure BJJ maneuvers, as everyone saw, Colby wasn't able to really out maneuver Leon. To be fair, that's partly due to Colby being the smaller guy who is not as physically strong as a solid 190lb 6'2" like Leon.
