Rachel, big fan of yours being a DO, servicing our Nation and telling your story. Applying to medical school myself this year for 2023 matriculation as a 50 year old (51 when (and hopefully if I enter). Keep doing what you do!

Hey, great to touch base with you again. I hope you can make a habit of reading, and something people say helps them under pressure is meditation. Theres some great books out there including ET, Joe dispenza. Helps keep vitalized and sharp, and i will steal that chia seed bb from ya' haha stay blessed

thanks for connecting again, i love to hear from you! :) i am definitely trying to be consistent with reading, wasn't too good this week but theres always next week. thank you for the recs!! i definitely try to meditate but havent made a habit of that yet either. the chia seed recipe i make is 3 TBS chia seeds, 1 cup almond milk, 3/4 cup frozen blueberries, and you can add cinnamon and sugar free maple syrup to sweeten it up

Hey Rachel! I am starting DO school this summer with the AF HPSP. I am wondering if you would have time to chat about a few things over email or text, etc. I am finding that my recruiter is not giving me consistent information and I thought you'd be a good resource since you've been through all this stuff already :) Just trying to track down some details and get advice as well. Hope you're doing well. I know its a very busy time for you right now, so no pressure on anything :)

probably a couple dumb questions but, i am a current junior in high school and i’ve been interested in cardiopulmonary laboratory(respiratory care practitioner) but i’m kind of worried about the translation into the “civilian life.” For example lets say I wanted to be a cardiologist, does HPSP offer that type of field to obtain the “free med school?” I’m kinda just now starting to look in to it and it’s hard to find answers and it’s very stressful. Also is HPSP something you can apply for after high school? or is ROTC the best option? Sorry for the dumb questions!!

hi luke! no dumb questions were asked! its a little confusing and you're very young so you have a lot of time to figure things out.
if you want to get your med school paid for by the military, you can definitely apply for hpsp, which you will do after graduating with your undergrad degree in college. you dont have to do rotc (i did, but this isn't a requirement for hpsp), and if you want to apply for that, you will do that before december 1 of your senior year of high school, or you can also try to get an in college scholarship.
rotc is during/after highschool, hpsp during/after undergrad. check out my videos on hpsp and what i did in college to get the scholarship under my military medicine playlist! :)
