To be honest I thought it was pretty good! Let's be honest, most 11 month Olds are mostly eating carbs regardless of vegan status. The chickpea pasta, oats, buckwheat, edamame, etc has a decent amount of protein. In fact, chickpea pasta actually has a crazy amount of protein, I eat a 3.5oz serving and it is like 25g. I am gluten-free not by choice and it's actually really doable to have a "normal" diet that is gluten-free and vegan. It's just really hard to eat out lol but that is usually the restaurant's fault for using gluten soy sauce instead of tamari and seitan instead of tofu, etc.

Not related to the video, but thank you for your wisdom and non-judgmental attitude. You, more than anyone, have persuaded me to finally decide to go to a strictly plant-based diet. I wouldn't say I wouldn't say I'm going vegan, because I'll hang onto the wool sweaters and leather shoes I already have, have mixed feelings about honey, etc. But I'm finally cutting out fish, dairy and eggs for realsies. It's something I've wanted to do for a while, but have struggled with. You've helped me get there 😊

But I have a leather belt I've had at least a decade that's none the worse for wear, while a synthetic belt I bought once shredded on first wearing. @@ksol-px2sl btw if you really wanna help animals, do continue supporting local bee farms. bees and humans have a very healthy coexisting relationship (when you look at the farming and not how humans treat nature as a whole), and without bee farming, its been shown that bees might actually *drown* in the honey they make, and that bee farmers help regulate the production of honey. bees also stay with humans willingly; theyre the only species thats able to get up and leave if the conditions get too bad as far as i know. buying products like beeswax and honey from local farmers markets will help the bees (and their farmers) immensely.

@@ksol-px2sl Thrifting used leather excludes you from the 'vegan' title but it's unilaterally a good thing to do. Yes, even over purchasing 2nd hand fake leather, because I think veganism ought to work in tandem with environmentalism, and the fewer clothes you have to buy over time, the better for securing animals and wildlife an actual environment to live in. I'm currently plant-based too, but I don't shy away from wearing my leathers (either inherited or 2nd hand), and I'm not planning to replace any of my boots with fake leather, because I live in a harsh climate, walk a lot, and synthetic leather simply can't endure even the fraction of the wear and tear I subject my boots and jackets to by simply walking a lot in said poor climate, whilst the oldest pair of leather boots I've got is now going 18 years strong and is due a sole repair. I'm stunned by how well they hold up, given how cheap I got them.

I just found your channel. Finally a vegan I can stand :)
I did one thing with my kids that gave me some ease of mind: the pasta we eat contains 30% white bean flour. The taste is even passable as pasta. The protein content isnt that much higher than regular pasta (17%E) but I imagine that the lysine content is higher.
They are older now and eat a lot better, but when my oldest was 3 I was very happy for it. He ate pasta, the occasional nut, ketchup and fruit. When he cookied with me he could easily eat his own weight in whatever we were cooking (broccoli, hummus, kale, tofu, beans). Once he ate 230g of white beans with olive oil and garlic. When I tried to serve it three days later he ate nothing 😅

Baby Led Weaning is offering whole foods non pureed, but prepared adequately to the baby's stage of developement (generally cooked enough it turns into mush in their mouths and not so much it doesn't hold shape). In theory helps with picky eating, as children have been exposed to different textures and flavours from the get go, and also in the developement of oral motor function as they strengthen their jaws through chewing and move their tongue more. Has claims that this also helps speech developement.
Is the route I've gone with my child and so far so good. At 20 months old she eats whatever, has very good understanding of how big pieces she can fit in her mouth and manages very well to sort herself out if a bit goes down the wrong way, as of yet she hasn't choked 🤞
Very recommended though to attend pediatric first aid courses.

Having followed you for years I’ve been aware of the importance of iodine. I use iodised salt and take a multi daily (with 50% of DRI). However, I recently got diagnosed with hypothyroidism due to an iodine deficiency. It’s probably due to a slight but consistent underconsumption of iodine over my 8 years as a vegan in combination with the fact that I’ve been consuming my multi and salt with various iodine blockers (coffee probably being the main culprit) and thereby not absorbing enough. Would be cool with a detailed video about this, for people who are still unaware

Rickets is caused by Vit D deficiency, and it isn't controversial to actual clinicians. Plant-based diets have protein. You are such an incompetent troll.

    • @taylorhillard4868
      @taylorhillard4868 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Its not the protein that gives them strength, thats the calcium and phosporus. The protein gives the basic framework that the mineral deposits are built upon, but the actual strength is due to the minerals. (Though the protein does help a lot wwith the flexibility of our bones. We dont often think about our bones being flexible but remberr things that are completely inflexible are brittle. Like a dry dead stick vs a pliable living stick) Vitamin D and estrogen are necessary for those minerals to be deposited into that matrix.
Plus carbs are protein sparing, and our body is pretty efficient at using and reusing proteins and amino acids. Protein in the diet is definitely important, but for basic health you dont reallly need an incredible amount. You do need a lot in order to build muscle though, since your body doesnt really want to build a lot of highly energy-wasting tissues like excessive muscle.

2:00 i don't actually mean this too seriously, it doesn't say anything about veganism ...
if they are breastfed, do babies technically count as vegan? Does it depend on if their parent/wet nurse is vegan?
Does the distinction have to do with consent? Or does it just have to wait until weaning is done?
Humans are animals, we are animals, but also we are humans, so it could go both ways.
Does it depend if the human is being exploited? Etc

And as for all those parents, who think that _"babies can't be Vegan"..._ well, they probably _also_ think, that "PacMan", "Comodor" and "Billy Jean" are new... I mean like, they *are* stuck in the thinking patterns of *forty years ago,* so... 😂
