      The uk millitary wouldn't make any difference to the outcome and would just make uk a legitimate target, when America assessed UK capabilities it was revealed that we had supplies for 2 weeks of combat, and that was before we handed everything to Ukraine

The UK military generally makes a significant outcome to the wars it fights in as I recall from my history lessons, unlike russia who often choke when attacked (with WW2 as the exception, but then they lost 20Million plus people).

    We pressed Ukraine to give up their nuclear weapons and sign the Budapest Memorandum which said we would help them if they were invaded, if they still had their nuclear weapons Russia wouldn’t have invaded them.

    Britain, the USA and Russia(!) all guaranteed Ukrainian territorial integrity in 1994. Sending a training team to Ukraine is entirely consonant with that guarantee. We can factor in the occasional British military casualties, but as they won't be in the front line these will be limited.

      Firstly, there are not enough missiles. They need to be air-launched and guided by American-owned GPS. Besides, the Russians have proved to be able to jam the needed GPS signals. Lastly, how many planes do the Ukrainians presently have?

    Vlad like any good manager needs to get down on to the front line and experience the 'meat grinder' at first hand, to fully understand what his troops are going through. I think he should aim to spend at least a week there on the frontline. This should improve things.

    Russia is not suffering "ridiculous casualties". We will know when they have reached unsustainable proportions when it mobilizes. I suspect that before that point they will stop attacking, declare victory and see what Ukraine and its backers do next. That will be a difficult moment.

    German here: As much as i appreciate the UKs strong support for Ukraine, i don't really understand their motivation. Given their geographical island position and their close relationship with the US, they are pretty safe and could just sit back and relax, and only start getting concered when Russia has taken Poland and Germany. But here there are doing more than any other European country. Can anyone explain?

      The British Empire in it's later days was, as the Japanese Commander said at the Fall of Singapore, a paper tiger. At Singapore in 1942, the British forces were dreadful, and the Japanese commander accused them of cowardice and incompetence. It hasn't really improved, and their best soldiers are the Scots.

      both sides can be on the verge of defeat - why is that so hard for you to grasp? This war is a horrific battle of will and attrition, where Ukraine have the will and are attriting russian at two or three to one ratios, but russia has the will to take those losses and keep pushing. Both sides can be close to losing and close to winning simultaneously as a couple more heavy blows could lead to defeat for the other.

    We need to support, with money, French and other continental countries who can develop and supply the weapons needed.

    I’d put the UK well ahead in anything other than a land war, air, sea, sub-sea… any land based offensive would need the full range of force multipliers in-field with the necessary logistics, fast air, attack helicopters, artillery, engineers, the whole thing on a very small scale. To fight them on the scale that they are engaged in would not be to the UK’s advantage, the Russians will just flatten an area with artillery and glide bombs, it just wouldn’t work.
