ICF is key no matter if you are out pleasure or during competition. When you are not focused you miss opportunities. Conversely I would add don’t become target fixated. Keep an open eye on the wider picture. Not only for fish activity, any change to that activity as in different riseforms, are the fish taking hatching, emerging, or further down the water column. Be it due change of food source. What is the reason? What changed? Temp, light, wind strength/ direction, air pressure, has anything else changed. Bird activity be they eating insects including terrestrials, or are cormorants hunting closer to your area? Predators will spook fish pretty darn quickly be they birds, mink, otter, seal, or dolphin. Obviously depending on where you are fishing. Lake, stream, river, estuary, or saltwater.
Thanks for this very informative video. I'm far from your neighborhood here in San Diego California. We do have some trout fishing in the lakes in our local mountains though. This wash line style would probably work there. I think this technique could be effective in the shallower areas of our local bays. The lures there need to be just above beds of sea grass. Not hanging up in the grass or rising too high in the water colume. Ill be giving this a try
Although I have been boat fishing for about twelve years now I still learnt a lot from this excellent video. A few years ago I bought a Wychwood RS2 rod which has been excellent but it is beginning to show signs of wear and tear. I wonder what you replaced yours with. .
@@riflemang176 I would add it is down to a combination of timing as in allow enough time for the backcast to fully extend behind you before the forward cast and practice, practice, practice.
Hi Lindsay. I would like to know what you use to connect the leader to the fly line, do you use loops connectors, do you make a loop with the line... Some of my friends told me for not use loop connectors in competition because they make the fish run way more easily. Many thanks
Another great video! Can I ask which Greys net you are using with the green netting on the bottom? Is it the flow net or the reservoir net or something else?
Hi lindsay im watching g the video just now and noticed how you swap the line out the clear reels that your line is pre loaded onto is that for that reel ur using or can you buy those clear lines and just do a quick swap out of line?
@@lindsayiflyfish its 5 minutes into the video where you change fly line to another fly line just want to know if the lines in your box if you can buy those clear cassette reels that your going to swap out in your video just to save time on swapping fly line all the time probs not wording it very well
brilliant video Lindsay fully enjoyed that 🙏🎣
Thanks pal.
Nice video, on point with information. Thanks Lindsay
Cheers Peter. 👍
Good man I'm fairly new to boat fishing been out twice got a taste for it your videos are excellent,,

Thanks pal, I think I could do it better with more time.

Sounds great, would be interested to know how you get on in your local bays.
Great video useful information regarding tippet length, and casting distance, thanks 🎣👌
Very welcome David.
Thanks for this instruction, Lindsay. I will try presenting leeches with this technique in Manitoba week after next.
Best of luck 👍
Thank you. Wish I had seen this before I went to Grafham today!
I was hew today, tough going.

I am using the A Jenson Drifter 2 pal.
Could you do a video on how to tie the sunburst fab with pink foam and black head at 7mins and 2secs? Looks a great fly pattern. Thanks🤙🙂🏴
No problem 👍
What length are your droppers? Do you vary their lenght? Are they the same diameter as the tippet sections? Interesting technique. Thank You.
My droppers are typically 10” and are the same diameter as the main leader.
Thanks will give it a try on Saturday. Is that Grafham your fishing?
Hi Brian, Yes Grafham water.
Hi Lindsay, im out on Grafham this weekend - were you mostly on tips or floaters with the washing line?
Tips mostly pal.
Great video Lindsay. I must say i have tangling issues with 1 dropper, how the hell do you manage 4?!
It’s easier than you think 👍

For the Stillwater I just use the manufactured loops once they fail usually Roman braided loop. The river set up is different.

It was the one supplied by the fishery pal.
