I love how Charisma didn’t jump right in to help Cole get in the lift properly. She helped him when he truly needed it when he got stuck but she gave him the space to do it himself. Love how you show how Cole is able ❤️❤️.
You guys are so adorable. I love how real it was when Cole was frustrated and not getting things to work quickly. You could have edited it out, but it was real. Charisma, love how you let him do things without jumping in to help. That is so tough for me, but I can see how empowering it can be to let him be. God bless you two.
Wow, Yeah a minivan how uncool! Imagine only being able to drive a mini van if you were in his shoes! The rich parents help make that happen. Most people in his shows aren’t as lucky to be able to have this bought for them.
How about a suped up sprinter, with a lift in the driver side, but also a lift for the back passenger interior. Have classy interior and interchangeable front seating so you can take turns driving or enjoying the amenities as a passenger Cole.😆😍
At least you stayed with it and didn't get overly frustrated, great lesson for us as well. It happens to us all, demonstrating what may be everyday things can comes with a few hiccups. Stay Positive. Love you guys.
I understand what you mean, but the fella can’t even get onto the lift. I understand he’d rather not drive a van, but it would be a substantial improvement to his life.
@@rackemwells I disagree with your comment. I too use a wheelchair, and some days we're on, and other days it seems nothing works out. The struggle is good. Without it, our muscles waste away. I do agree that a van would be more practical if kids are on the way.
Cole, the fact you needed 8 attempts to get on that ramp just makes it real. Some days we're on, and get it right away, and other days it's just not happening. Like it how Charisma helped you when you got stuck, but she didn't just jump in and move you. Whenever you get your van (and triplets?! lol), I'd totally buy that truck off you! I have muscular dystrophy, but your hand controls are the same as mine were. I bought my first van from a C5/6 quad.
I have to say, "I love the 8 attempts". I'm a quad and my wife and 2 daughters let me struggle until I ask for help. I also do wood working as a hobby. In my shop, patience is definitely a virtue. I struggle with clamps, screw guns, and especially putting screws in wood. Sometimes I just have to laugh at how long it takes me to build something. Keep struggling, keep posting, and keep being positive. Attitude is everything and the two of you seem to have great attitudes. FYI - you speak of having kids. My wife and I went through IVF and were blessed with two daughters. Don't give up.
This has become the thing me and my grandma (Biddy) look forward to the most. She’s gotten forgetful but she asks everyday about y’all and when we can watch. Thank you for giving Biddy something to look forward to again!
Studies have found that cholesterol medication causes forgetfulness (dementia) I'm fairly young and I was on cholesterol medication I would forget I was cooking and go out and do yard work, forget to feed my dog. I quit taking it and quit forgetting.
I had hand controls fail on me once. They were hooked up through the engine and got stuck on acceleration. I have never been so scared and yes I wrecked. Today I drive with hand controls very similar to Cole's. I feel much safer. Love your truck Cole!
Oh hell no. The most I’ve had happen to my hand controls (which are similar to Cole’s) is the pole connected to the accelerator fell off while I was driving.
A give a huge hi-five to Clem Daddy and Mama Kelly for actually "allowing" Cole to be as independent as he can-or should. Cole is a man; and in order for Mr. Cole to mature as a man, he must be independent and do certain things on his own. I'm sure it couldn't have been easy for his parents to lessen the reins, but it was necessary. I send positive vibes and earnest encouragement for you both to keep growing and maturing. Why i couldn't have said, "what a dope-ass truck." And leave it at that. Lordt. 😩🙄
That little screw thing on windshield wipers is a good idea. I might have to put one on mine too because it's definitely a challenge turning the wipers on in the rain and still trying to steer with one hand. Even my girlfriend thinks it's a little hard for her being able-bodied. I also just thought about getting automatic wipers installed that turn on when it senses rain.
Cole's are automatic and sense the rain but the screw allows him to adjust the speed up or down to his liking if the automation isn't at a speed he needs for the rain conditions.
showing this too my mother cause I as well am in a wheelchair and i’ve told my mom about wanting to start or learn to drive and this video has just inspired me more that I can do it.
Thank you both for sharing your lives with us. Cole, I think you had all those attempts because you were showing how it's done but normally it's so automatic for you that you do it without thinking. 💖
This is so amazing I had no idea this kind of thing existed! When I first heard Cole's story I thought it was heartbreaking that he got his injury the day after his licence because he was so excited to drive and I didn't think he would be able to.
That’s cool! And you use the same accelerate/brake config I use. I’m told it’s rare to do it this way. I love the way your truck opens up instead of using a ramp
I have a few questions 1. Have you ever had a spasm while driving? 2. How are your reflexes when having to stop suddenly? 3. Is parallel parking a task?
When driving, Cole's spasms happen most often when in the midst of a turn from a start up at a stop light, or a bump in the road. Something shifty or jarring causes it. The spasms are in his legs and he doesn't use his legs to drive, so that is a plus!!! He just takes his time with the acceleration and we have discussed that he doesn't need to feel rushed. People behind him can just be patient!

Hey, it would be cool to see a wheelchair challenge video where Charisma or Cole's family members roll out in chairs too. I wonder what reactions you guys would get and everyone can see things from Cole's perspective.
Will Charisma hire someone to help with 3 babies? One baby can be a tremendous undertaking. I hope new parents value their sleep and ability to engage in other normal adult activities because when babies come, you become their 24/7 caregiver and bottle washer, etc. until they are old enough to fend for themselves. One sister only has two children (separate births) and her life is not a fairy tale now. Her husband also works. BUT she takes care (by herself) of the household chores AND their children alone.
