  • I've been thinking a lot about TH-cam's actual community. How many people have you met due to TH-cam? Do you consider TH-cam to be social media? I believe it's worth the conversation.
    What is your TH-cam Handle?
    ‪@BillyBusby‬ is mine.

There is definitely a community, Billy, and you’re a part of it! Buckle up and make videos you like. People will watch the ones they are interested. I think TH-cam offers a great platform for folks to do their video thing. I make videos because I enjoy making them. Some are better than others. 👍😀

That's kind of where I am with it too. I know they (TH-cam) are always trying to tweak and peak, it just got me thinking about it.

It’s a unfortunate thing but it’s the algorithm that dictates the audience. You make great content sir keep doing what you do!

I don’t disagree with your statement! I just don’t really like making stuff that I don’t want to make, feels too much like an actual job.

I've only recently put up videos for the first time. They're all videos of my cats. Lol. I've thought about starting a biography story.
I enjoy seeing your vids brother. Keep making them.

@@BillyBusby just a story about my life. No holding back kinda thing. It would take some time to work up the courage, and organize myself enough to tell it. One day... I keep telling myself.

I think everyone I follow is always shifting and figuring out this algorithm thing. I see some folks spend years creating content and barely scrape the few $k mark. I found you through searching Full Sail stuff. Overall, TH-cam is fantastic, but like you stated, it sort of is a drag that people that want to create multiple genre of content is likely not to grow well. With that said though, boiling down to genre if you look at vloggers that one somehow found a way to turn a Vlog into a lifestyle where they can cover a whole slew of different topics, but centralize it around a common theme. I take Johnny Harris. For instance, he has somewhat of a pretty diverse background, but has blowing up like substantially in just a short period of time and I’m certain that is not all due to vox. I’m certain that a lot of those videos They are putting money into advertising to get them pushed up, but then also balancing embedding them in their website and really trying to build an SEO in other areas to get them promoted. I have such a strong desire to start actually creating some real content It almost burned my soul. And I think for me anyway I’m not jumping headfirst in this thing because of the fact that I want it to be something I want to do for the long term which is why I’m considering journalism because then I don’t have to confined myself to a specific area. but I guess in that respect, anybody can be a video journalist and tell a good story so perhaps the most compelling story you can tell is the one that can build connections and community.

Regarding the multiple niche sort of Contant, I think if you can always stick to the 3X structure, sort of like Casey does for example, you can cover a multitude of topics in and through consistency really make an impact but I really do think it takes time because we can’t grow like you know Casey did all those years ago.

Dude, you hit the nail on the head. Under current algorithms, it has to be something you thoroughly enjoy creating. I cant wait to see what you end up covering, I'm sure it is going to be top-notch!

@@BillyBusby I realize how many typos there are above, but I decided to use voice to text. One thing I can tell you about at least my grind anyway, is that it is going to be about the struggle of mindful living in the age of technology. It covers such a broad, diverse range of issues, such as the challenges we face with social media, algorithms or overzealous artificial intelligence that blocks our ability to have a voice because it assumes what context actually is. Uniquely though I also feel that on the topic of mindful living, it also covers challenges that we face with work, life, and our pursuit to find an define who we are. I tend to find that I watch more things that are created as Vlogs than I do prepared and manicured videos.
I mean, let’s face it anybody can be a storyteller and journalism almost has lost its name because it has changed so much over the years, but still holds a loose definition about pursuing and unbiased reporting. I think we all know that is not really possible in today’s day and age. So then what it boils down to is how somebody delivers the Contant and how likable they are by their tribe. I think that’s really what it’s all about and it’s what I hope to at least work on building when it comes to community because I think, helping others find their voice can help me find my own voice if that makes sense.
It really wasn’t just your tech stuff but the way you delivered a message, and the way you shared the journey that you were on in your pursuit of journalism, which really is just story of telling but ultimately your delivery is what I caught onto.

@@MindfulGrinds I think that stuff is way more meaningful than what many other TH-camrs are doing. I hope you find a super creative way of telling the story and sharing it!
