Comparing between Puyo Puyo Tetris and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2! What changes were made between from the opening to battles. Footages captured from the PlayStation 4 version of Puyo Puyo Tetris and PlayStation 5 Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 version.
Japan’s beloved puzzle game series Puyo Puyo and the world-renowned Tetris game franchise have teamed up again to deliver even more Puyo-popping and Tetrimino-clearing fun in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2. Playing is easy: match 4 or more same-colored Puyos or complete a line of blocks to clear them from your board and dump Garbage into your opponent’s game. But keep an eye on what’s coming your way too.
Play traditional Puyo Puyo and Tetris...or mix them together to level up your game. Offline or online, you’ll have loads of modes that let you play the way you want from single-player Adventure to couch-competition Versus to ranked Online matches, and more.
Disappointed that the puyo puyo character no longer yell sega and tetris

Ringo's voice was agressive as hell in the first game she was straight out doing a smarter Taiga Aisaka i loved the solved it!, the laugh and her " RIGHT BACK AT YOU" literally sounded like she was punching someone in the throat.

I'm not that good at Puyo Puyo (i.e. my GTR skills are not impressive and all). So when I start Story mode for the first time, I'm gonna have a hard time because I'm better at Tetris.
I wish you the best of lucks! I also not very good at puyo and if you're playing ppt2 the difficulty is extremely high if you're good with tetris... but it is totally doable!
For people who are curious about playing Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, buy the original first since it's cheaper and if you like it, then knock yourselves out and buy the sequel. A little buying tip.

if you care more about gameplay and competition than content, characters and pretty menus, ppt1 is definitely the way to go anyway

The first game have more charm and the music much better than the sequel and the voice acting feel better (yeah i know the 2nd game was release in a pandemicand they recycle a lot of voice lines from the first game but the vo sound off like ringo vo sound less energetic in 2 than 1)
The second game have more gameplay modes and challenging than the first game
I'll stick with 1. Yes, they added more. But some stuff lack polish or downgraded. We went from characters yelling "Sega! Tetris!" to just the "DING!" for Sega logo. And the fact that the game actually came out unfinished similar to the Mario Sports Switch games due to characters that were meant to be in the game indicating that the game was meant to come out in 2021, but Sega has rushed the devs to release it for the holiday season.

Only the English dub spells dont sound different, and some alter voices are the same but not all, all of JP is remastered tho
PPT2 is much more balanced in general, although Skill battle is ridiculously broken in its current state, especially with Tetris.
Also PPT2 both has the English and Japanese voices, while PPT1 only has the English voices on console (the PC version has both however).
There is a catch with the second, since it runs a different engine that was meant for 3d games. Since it's a 2d game it struggles with netcode.
El puyo puyo 1 supera al 2 en diseños, gráficos y OST, en mi opinión, pero la 2 tiene mucho más contenido, solo que la música es muy plana :(

Concuerdo, solo el skill battle es lo que me intereso en comprarlo. Lástima que ppt2 no ocupara música ppt1 de la forma que puyo champions lo hizo ://
Además que el tetris se siente medio raro, mover las piezas es más lento y tedioso

They are adding more characters in PPT2 in the free updates. You can look it up, people have already figured out which characters they're gonna add in the next update

Honestly, PPT2 just seems like the original game was repackaged with DLC and sold as a sequel.
I vastly prefer the first game to it.
The extra characters, Skill Battle Mode, and (most of) the new story and extra missions could've easily been either free DLC or a cheap paid expansion pass.
I don't hate PPT2 at all. I just think it's unnecessary if you already have the first PPT.

I can't find an opponent in ppt1, everyone moved to ppt2 or what?
surprisingly it’s the opposite for me, I recently got ppt2 and it’s kinda hard to find opponents but when i go back to ppt1 i find people instantly

I'm super annoyed about the competitive edge the Puyo player has over the Tetris player(myself) in #1. Is the second anymore balanced? If not, I'm not wasting my time or money

Puyo Puyo Tetris 1 is way better than 2. 2 is a really bad game with too many downgrades. I imported a Japanese Xbox One copy of the first game because the Japanese voices are better and Xbox Series X is way better than ShitStation 5.
