you know, the ion cannon having so many problems is actually accurate to the lore. Ion weapons were notoriously finicky.

It could be that the power draw from the shield prevented the weapon from firing when it was needed
I think the Ion Cannons generally were used for more for disabling shields and disrupting target ships' electrical systems through critical overloading than to deal actual damage like a blaster or a rocket would.

There actually is a working ion cannon on the SE steam workshop, when it hits a target it disables functional blocks in a certain radius around the impact spot for a few seconds. Just thought you should know in case you didn't.

Actually the empire used venators even when they were replaced by ISD's but most of the venators were decomishoned and by the time I the battle of endor all the venators were decomishoned.

The Empire still used Venators to combat small time pirates to save their Isds for use elsewhere like Defending a planet or attack Hutts, Rebels, and Black Suns.

How about a proper Sci-fi at war type of match? Get as many ships from as many series together as you can and have one massive FFA? I know there are ships from Trek, Wars, and Gate on the Workshop; so why not? Could even be all fighters with X-wings vs Starfuries vs Colonial Vipers etc.
The Star Trek ships by Helratz, Star Wars ships by Purrfect-Blinky are the best on the workshop. The only problem I see is Helratz's ships all being made exclusively out of small blocks.
So the mass effect battle basically?
Even including Warhammer?

That was amazing! Can’t wait to see more of the mod and testing it against other mods. Maybe put the shields on some starships from other franchises, throw in the spinal weapon mod Jack spotlighted not too long ago along with some of the other stupidly powerful weapon mods.
Wait, gatling rounds still pass through it? I guess the older shield mod still has a purpose then.

Never, I work in the engineering department as indicated by my avatar. Close call during the M5 debacle though, but Ensign Harper ended up getting killed by the M5 when it was trying to draw more power from the _Enterprise_ instead of me.
(Fun Fact: Harper was in fact the name of the red shirt that was killed when the M5 was trying to get more power. Almost all of the deaths in TOS have a name.)

the rounds don't pass through btw its a visual glitch unless your inside the shield everything fired at it that can deal damage will be stopped

As info. The venetor class star destroyer was in duty when the empire was just beginning. I think it was in duty for the first few years after the empire had risen.

For those who don’t know the venator was used in the early days of the empire and was later phased out by the victory class (I think) at around 4-7 bby (before battle of yavin)

The ion cannon was the true winner of this contest!
The venator actually was used as a patrol ship for some of the less important imperial worlds or for planetary defence fleets. Many were scrapped or mothballed as the years went on but technically, the venator still served as an imperial vessel for a good many years after the republic fell. Chances are, Vader's response to hearing about a venator falling at the battle of hoth would more likely be one of confusion as to why it was deployed there or why someone bothered to drag it away from some backwater world's patrol fleet when they already had a proper imperial blockade in place.
This is actually the first SE vid I saw, while looking for Kerbal Star Wars vids.

Why didn't the empire just do this? Pretty sure they could have overloaded the shield and glassed Echo Base with the combined firepower of Death Squadron. Just the Executor by itself would have done just fine.
The shield generator in the movie was more than capable of surviving an imperial bombardment, that's why they had to land a ground force and move in with the AT-AT walkers to take down the shield generator manually.

Honestly? The Venator-Class Star Destroyer, along with other old Republic tech like the Arquitens-class, saw action in the early days of the Empire. They were typically painted the same drab gray as their Imperator, Imperial-I, and Imperial-II cousins, however.

Venators were actually used by the Empire even around the Battle of Yavin. They were mostly used in systems where ISDs would be too expensive.
The empire did use Venator class ships, around the start of empire.

As I've always dreamed of. The captains face off...Now if only they could do a collabo between ARMCO V RWI XD. Btw I did some testing a few nights back and well...a combination of this mod with the standard Shield mod is a good mix. Especially if you combine it with the Deuterium Reactor Mod (Which I highly recommend).

The ships during the clone wars were only around during the beginning of the empire. But sooner or later were decommissioned.
Hey Shack, did your Ion Cannon have an independent power supply or was it drawing from the same one as the Shield?
If so it might explain why it wouldn't fire sometimes, the shield was drawing too much power.

I think the Empire kept a few Venators around for a while after the clone wars, at least until the Victory IIs became the standard, so its fine.
