First off i just wanted to thank you for these videos, you really go in depth and help me understand how to start my music production journey! I have a question though, how come you started off in session view in this video as opposed to arrangement view?
Been going to shows and festivals for 3 years and I can honestly say I’m at the point where listing only does such justice I feel like my creative mind has brought me to this point where it’s my turn to make the music I listen 2 everyday for all you dreamers and visionary’s out there fucking send it go for it and don’t look back it will take time patience and effort but if it brings you joy that’s all just part of the journey I hope someone readings this is the next headliner at lost lands for years to come keep pushing and keep dreaming from yours truly |scuZZy |
Fuckkkkkk bro…. Yeah. I just ordered my midi earlier. Went to my first rave and then my first festival this year and probably been to 20 shows total since July now…. Seen hundreds of bands live before in all genres but this and this culture was something that I never knew I needed, and fell madly in love immediately. Seeing a few artists out there like Crankdat, celestial void, sippy, Sullivan king, Vastive behind the booth camera view in various posts on insta generates this INSANE feeling in me that I’ve never felt before. I’ve always felt music but instruments never spoke to me… but watching those people do their thing, I feel it throughout my body. It’s crazy that this is a feeling and it feels like the absolute greatest feeling in the world doing what they do. I have to learn to focus. I have to learn to give myself grace. I have to learn to not get so distracted to avoid what I know I want to learn and need to learn, but am too overwhelmed to do so. I have to do this for me and maybe this will be my calling to greatness. What better lifestyle than to impact crowds of people giving them the absolute best time of their lives that no one will forget? This just hits me hard Thank you for your comment friend. I hope you’re well out there
if you are watching this while using Ableton 11. They changed the "commit" button for grooves to a small arrow above the "groove" part in the clip. If that makes any sense. The bottom line is they changed it....took me a solid minute to figure out how to do it lol. oh. very helpful video too!
13:47 to Change it into the Arrangement View press 'Tab', not 'Shift(he says)'. Just for the beginners who are watching this!! (This teacher is the best, I couldn't find a better one yet)
I just followed the whole video and was able to make the exact beat you made perfectly. And im using Live light 9. There were a few things you did that I had to find some work arounds with the older version but its still all possible. Thanks man
hey I'm still using live 9 standard, were you able to "assign track color to clips" ? I don't see it as an option, wondering if it is only on newer versions.
I just started learning Ableton and I think that out of many different youtubers I've watched, your videos are the easiest to understand and dopest! Keep up the great work
Thank you so much this video helped a lot. I got a bit caught up when you were switching views 13:48 and you said shift and I was so confused but I knew that it was tab you were meant to say. This is a really good video and it’s the only one I could understand. Thankyou
This kind of tutorial videos are pure gold, you can almost get from nowhere to anywhere by learning online free just by youtube videos... I can't say enough "thank you" to these vids :)
dude you've helped me so much with daws and just making music in general. Once I get more comfortable with the basics like using custom loops and mixing them into a nice arrangement with a drum beat I've made, I'm planning on trying to make my own sounds to use in songs. But I need to get more comfortable with the basics first. Thank you for taking your time and helping people out because you do an excellent job at it.
After clicking "free download", it prompts me to a message that says, "No thanks, continue to checkout". It appears as a hyperlink, but when I click on it, it is unresponsive. Is there another place to download the sample pack?
Dude this helped so much on my starting journey with making dubstep in Ableton It’s not many videos out there that’ll give you steps and thoroughly explain them. I’ll never forget this when I make it big...Thank you.
Do you have a tutorial on how to make the sounds you sropped in at 22:46? I have the other stuff down but struggle with making dubstep sounds like that
I am having trouble at 7:10 when I click on each individual clip, it turns the color black and does not isolate the clip I select...any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for a great tutorial!!
8:14 when I go to drop the Hats on the track it places 4 at once, one in each of the bars. How do I stop it from doing that because it wants to then place some at the beginning of the first bar at beats 1 and 2.
cool!Hopefully there will be more of these slow ABLETON LIVE 10 tutorials! Have added attention, thumb up, and forward, Chinese netizens will see your wonderful!
Great video! Im guessing I need to know and understand music theory before I actually get into this! Finding a rhythm with snares, kicks, hats, and etc!
I thought I had a decent beat going. Found this video, and now it actually sounds good! Is there a part 2 as to how to create the growls and such? (Like the audio sample you threw in just to see what it all sounds like)
I'm following everything you're doing and for some reason when I double click to put in a note for the Hat1 it duplicates in other parts of the grid messing everything up. Please advise
hey! im having a probelm, why when i put on the same distance away on the same grid and the same length my snare hits slower than your in the video, even though the layout is completetly the same, could you help?
ok so any time i do the groove part and did it exactly the same as in the video and hit commit it dose not affect it in any way for me iv restarted the hole thing many times as in a new file deleted stuff and re did it but still any time i hit commit it dose not affect it for me for some reason any help?
I can't get swing to randomize the velocity...quantize etc changes but velocity remains the same for all notes no matter what value for it I set. Any ideas (Ableton 10, Mac OS) ?
Hey i really love this video! What's funny about this is that I was looking this up because Im new to Ableton, But I saw this video and it was posted today! :3⍢ Imma sub cuz I learn alot from you
Hi, thanks for the tutorial, it really helped me to get back into the groove again! By the way, I think the link to the sample pack isn't working anymore..? It says "no thanks, continue to checkout". The link is broken
Am i just dumb or do i need a special extension to get the thing to download? when i click the download it says "wait before you download" and then i can't click the "no thanks" option.
I’ve been able to figure everything out it’s just I can’t put the drum in the arrangement view I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong if it helps I’m using Ableton 11
I just found your videos, I clicked the link for the mothership sample pack, however I cannot find it on Cymatic's website. How do I find download and get the samples into Ableton? Thank you.
When i add a high hat it adds it on the same section on every channel, how do i make to where i can draw them in and they don't repeat on the same panel?
hi im new to ableton and i really want to make remix on how i scold my son, the way i got my voice high and i want it to be it way, my question is how do i cut the voice is it by ctrl E? thanks
You left the gain on the bass compressor at 0.0db, I don't think it was actually doing anything. I was wondering if it was just me but adjusting the knob to 12db or so actually had an effect like you were intending.
Hey Im trying to make a simple beat, with just a kick, snare. But the snare always comes super late, like its lagging and then when it repeats itself the kick lags alot too, know why this might be? Help would be appreciated
Thanks so much for watching my video! Get some sweet dubstep beats rolling...!
thank you!....the pack wont work ):
So did we

feel the same way
curious how you’ve progressed
Would love to send you a mix
Finally getting into production at 36 years old and wishing I'd started at 16. No regrets though, most fun I've eve had!

At last, I found a video that actually taught me something great.
if you are watching this while using Ableton 11. They changed the "commit" button for grooves to a small arrow above the "groove" part in the clip.
If that makes any sense. The bottom line is they changed it....took me a solid minute to figure out how to do it lol.

Love the video. For anyone wondering you have to hold click and press tab to move the the clips to arrangement view from the session view.
Finally! A dubstep drums tutorial that actually shows you how to make the pattern and semi-master it! Thanks!!!
Yo this was actually a fantastic video, I learnt a lot more coming here than I originally expected
Great tutorial. I loved the early dubstep scene, great explanation of how it works.
Also love the Celestial t-shirt!
Awesome, thank you!

This worked awesome on ableton 11. I also didnt have your loops but was able to find some that were just as good from cymatics.
I have to say as a long term Cubase user that has moved onto Ableton 10 this video is epic :)
This was extremely helpful. So many other videos skip over basic info that newbie's like me can't move forward without. You rock.
wowww what last touch was perfect
I honestly can't believe I just made this. Thank you so much for your help, I can't wait to continue forward.
22:45 lmao that's the same sound tanger used in his song slayer. pretty big coincidence to find the source and a song using the sound lol

Exceptionally well made video thank you for making this super beginner-friendly
I’m trying to add the groove to my track but it’s not changing the velocity. Any tips? I already have it committed to the tracks. 11:54
8:14 when I go to drop the Hats on the track it places 4 at once, one in each of the bars. How do I stop it from doing that because it wants to then place some at the beginning of the first bar at beats 1 and 2.
I know its late, but you gotta change the length of the high hats to 4 too

I can't get swing to randomize the velocity...quantize etc changes but velocity remains the same for all notes no matter what value for it I set. Any ideas (Ableton 10, Mac OS) ?
