Hey I have a question my factory ignition has 5 wires brown, grey, red, black, and black with white stripe The new ignition I bought has 4 green, black, red, and black with white stripe, could you possibly tell me what I should splice together I'm having the hardest Time with this and cant find an answer or schematics for my adly gta 50 anywhere that shows exactly the color wires I have.
Hi Mitch,i'm not to sure if you know already.The switch you have is a simple 4 wire with out the kill switch built in.The black/white stripe one(the cut one) is for the kill off switch.You can still connect the new one ignition,but you wont have the kill switch on it,which you really don't need it .All you have to do is touch the kill switch wire to the negatives wire
Here’s what you do the way that you fix this is to connect both green wires together on plug into the socket for your ignition switch. Therefore you have on grounded wire
I ordered one off eBay and it's missing what I think is a ground wire. It could in but the original one has a separate wire besides the clip. I hooked the new one up and I think I blew a fuse. I can't believe it's this hard to get new keys for a scooter. I can't find a locksmith to do it and I can't figure it out so now I basically have a 1985 Honda Elite 250 that's just about perfect that's how sitting.
Did you ever get it working with the eBay switch you got? Plugged the eBay one I got in without the fifth wire that is in the original one and blew the main fuse.
The Black/Brown cable is the 'switch cable' between ignition lighting lamp and horn. If ignition is in off position the horn switch will activate the green lamp above the ignition wen pushed. If the ignition is switched on the horn button will activate the horn. So the Black/Brown cable has to go to the red one, otherwise the horn would not work anymore. But now it works also with key out. But there could be a problem when the Black/Brown is then switching a relay, it will slowly drain the Battery. I could not find one so maybe that will be no problem. Otherwise you have to cut the Lightgreen/Red cable for the Horn coming out the handle switch and connected it direct to 12 Volt and then cut the Black/Brown cable. So I took al the cables out the connectors with al little screwdriver. Solder the second green short cable to the red wire and clicked all the 4 connectors back in the original Honda connector..
I do not know how the switch really works. But without the Black/Brown cable not connected you hear a light click in the horn wen the little green light burns. With the Black/Brown cable connected there is more power and the horn will work fully. There must be some resistance build in there??
Currently pulling my hair out. Trying to wire into a toggle switch. 5 wire ignition into a toggle. Currently have red on one side & green, Orange, black w/white stripe, brown on other. Black is to ground frame. I have signals, horn, brake lights when pulled. Push button start kicks over but no spark from coil. Tried to kick over start but then never does and smoke come out of the carburetor which I've never seen that before. Is my wiring close? Red and black on a switch always blows the battery fuse. Help please I'm pretty lost. It was stolen and they jacked this all up.
I'm trying to figure out wiring schemes for my Kymco movie 125XL scooter, to connect a 12v outlet to thr Switch , but I cant find documentation specific to my model (I have european or asian version of it where the battery is under the seat, not under your feet like the american version) So whats common to most schematics of asian scooters and bikes is that the red wire from the switch is BAT connection and green seems to be Ground. I have 1 red 2 green 2 black, idk the purpose of the black ones.
Why is there no sound?? I have tried watching this video on several different devices and there is no audio at all on any of them!! I need to know what is being said!! Help!
I have the exact same issue but reverse... mines got stolen and hot-wired... I sent it to get fixed they charged $300 to put a new key ignition switch in, ever since it drains the battery when its off... so I opened it up today and its still hot wired! They just connected the key to the kill switch... my problem is the new key is a 5 wire and my bike is 4 wires... So pissed I'm finally looking at this today 1 year AFTER having the work done..
im in need of great knowledge !!!!!,,,,i have a 250 citation or like that type motor in a sand buggy ,,the cdi box was broken and i was given another one but the wires are not the same colors and the wires coming from motor and wires on cdi box dont match i need help bad ,,anyone willing to help me out ?????

red is power in, black is power out to acc, splice together Brown and grey together onto black, black/white stripe is kill switch, green is ground

i did too three outlets 2 celing lights and made a home made not grounded extenison cord out of orange house wire the way dad taught me

Honda 250 has two types CDI. AC (old) directly connected to alternator DC (newer type) connected to battery.

Just use the four wires and tape off the fifth one eazy that's what I would do
