👛👛👛 Ash!! Omg! You are just a breath of fresh air! The way that I can relate to everything you’ve said in this video about struggling with confidence on this journey is so me! For a little over a year, I’ve been wanting to loc my hair. I originally wanted sister locs but decided against it because of the cost of maintenance for them. I did what I felt was extensive research. So I just decided to get regular locs instead. I started this journey 2/2023. And I can’t recall ever reading or watching a video where anyone talks about this struggle with self confidence. It is really real! I was not prepared. I became depressed and wanted to shave my head and start all over because I was not myself. My edges on my right side is thin so my locs are not as full on that side as I would like. My hair did define me before this and it couldn’t anymore. I started wearing wigs and wanted braids to gain my confidence back. But my Locstician advised me against it. My locs started thinning really bad around my perimeter because I was hard headed and wore the wigs anyway. I always felt like getting a retwist was a waste of time and money because it lasted for like 2 weeks. I never felt like I had my hair done for real. But I still wanted to follow through with this journey and see how my locs matured so now I’m almost 8 months in and I’m not where I was but I’ve decided that I would just embrace it and love my hair how it is. Im still struggling with it but I’m getting better. Im wearing them out more. And not really pulling them because ponytails doesn’t help me with the thinning. I’d love to see more makeup tutorials and how you style your hair with it being this length. Also your wash routine. I’m so proud of you and congratulations on your one year!! ❤
