Meet Auckland Zoo's giraffe calf!

On Saturday evening (13 January) Auckland Zoo’s female giraffe Kiraka gave birth to a healthy female calf who our ungulates keepers estimate stands around 6 feet (1.8m) tall and weighs approximately 60kg!

Mawingu (pronounced Ma-wingu): Meaning "clouds," this name could be a reference to the giraffe's lofty height.

Lulu means I think 'pearl' in Swahili. I always thought it was a great name. Karen Blixen gave it to one of her antelope orphans.
