Grateful for this... lost the instructions and couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t stick. Didn’t know there was a film on the shiny side that needed to be peeled off. This video saved my sanity!
Thanks for the video. Really informative. I figured it was pretty self-explanatory but it's always nice to watch someone else do a thing first. I would recommend buying a size that is big enough to cover in one piece.
Looks like you installed it horizontally instead of vertically, the leaves should point up like they would grow in nature. Also, you're not supposed to do joints like wallpaper. It should be one continuous piece.
One problem with the demo - You don't show how much privacy you get inside FROM outside when it's dark outside an the lights are on inside. That makes a huge difference.
Great advice! At the time I shot this video I was thinking of that saying "if you can see them they can see you" next time I do a review like this I will definitely do it from both aspects
Same question here. I am looking for a window film which can keep privacy when outside dark inside light on. But, wouldn’t find the answer in this video. Disappointed.
@@amyjingli2810 He's stated his appreciation for the constructive criticism & he would try both next time :) Pull-down shades are 100% effective nighttime privacy.
@@pmoney8330 Hmm, I would say it all depends. If the back of the film (the side that sticks to the window) got dusty or dirty it may not work. But definitely give it a try before calling it quits.
Hey, I would say try using a blow dryer on high. Not really sure if it will work but I'd say its worth a try. Would kinda be like wrapping a car, the heat aids in the film contouring to the surface. Let me know what happens!
It all depends on what kind of film it is. If it is a static cling film you will need to use the soapy water solution. If it actually has adhesive then you shouldn't use the soapy water solution. Best thing to do is follow the instructions for the product. Hope this helps!
Good installation demo, thank you. As far as a review of the product goes, I was hoping to see it from the outside (day and night) as that's why most people would buy the film, so not super helpful but still a good demo. Perhaps another video idea? Thanks again for demonstrating how to install.
Can you see inside the window from outside at night when the persons lights on? I want privacy for my room but don’t want people to be able to look inside at night with my lights on.
It does help with retaining heat however your windows frames also come into play with the cold. Most times the draft comes from the seams of the window or the border of the frame. Check to see if your feeling the draft and if not these will help insulate the glass itself
I’m having so much problems with the last 20 inches of my film. It’s the piece that was rolled up against the cardboard roller it comes on. The other 2 pieces I installed went on just fine. The edges on the third piece are curling up and refuses to cling on to the glass. I tried soaking the film in warm water first to uncurl the edges but it’s not working. Any suggestions ? Thanks
Hi, I would say try to apply it using the soapy water solution and then use a hair dryer on hot. Don't put it directly on the film, but instead about 6 inches. This should help the film flatten out and should also help it to stick.
Awesome!, I'm glad to be of help. Getting the straight cuts are always a pain, just make sure to use some kind of straight edge and a exacto-knife or box cutter. Let me know how it goes once you start the process.
Hey got it all installed. Definitely best using the existing straight edges for at least two window edges first, saves cutting around the entire window. I used a bathroom tile to cut straight, my second window was better than my first, kinda wanna get two more and do them again. I bought a squeegy and proper craft scalpel which helped a lot! Video definitely helped though!
Hi, I'm not entirely sure how it work work out. The side of the film that's going up against the window is designed to block the harmful sun rays and what not. So with the film being applied backwards in a sense might look odd from the inside and may also not do its job
I'm wondering whether the film will make my basement room too dark, since it doesn't receive direct light. I don't like looking at the rusty window well.
Honestly, had to come here to know why my panels fell off.... Turns out I didn't removed the backing film 🤦🏻♀️ now to do it all over again on eight windows ffs hahahahahaha
