54 year Lion fan here and anyone who says S.O.L. hasn't been paying attention to the last 3 seasons. This team is completely different than any Lion team I've seen in my life. All we can do and keep our heads down, go back to work, and keep faith. Go Lions!

@ I can see why you say that but I think we can retain an assistant to take over the offense and if we hire Saleh as a D coordinator we could make another run. But conventional lions wisdom says it’ll be another 20-30 years before we contend again but this isn’t the conventional lions team that we are used to seeing year in and year out.

The Lions brain trust assembled this current group of talented assistants in the first place so I expect it to successfully replace anyone they lose.

Quit freaking out dude. The offense scored 31 which should be plenty to win a playoff game. The defense was so depleted they couldn't bend anymore and finally broke. Thats it. The turnovers were largely a result of that fact, they felt pressure to score on EVERY drive to bail out the defense and took some risks as a result. If the defense can stay healthy there's no reason they can't make another run. Keep the faith.

@@jacobchamberland8099 They only punted once all game. Over 500 yards and 31 points. Goff fumbled once and threw 3 interceptions...That's not on the OC. Defense was depleted due to all the guys on IR, and the lions have been sketchy vs mobile QBs as of late.

If the Lions didn’t have any injuries the narrative would be that they need to address some needs defensively which is what they need to do. The up side is that instead of scouring free agency to find the needed players they only need to get the players they have healthy.
Nobody seems to remember that this season was lost when we lost half of team and 80 percent on Defense! We are lucky to do what we did period

I watched it with the red wings in the 90's. It's hard to get into playoff mode after the week off. The team coming in is 100% playoff mode. It's a blessing and a curse

@@lpeora Yea, I'll agree there...AG is an ok coach...he has difficulty making adjustments when things aren't working. But we have about 6 roster spots being held up by unused drafted players, already injured players and under achievers.
I feel this season was our one shot, one opportunity. We're losing coaches, and players. Now we rebuild again. I been through this for over 50 years

No not yet. Coordinators are replaceable. We have 1 more year before big contracts come due and salary cap will be an issue. We will continue to draft well and sign good FA’s. No one says this about Kansas City. Why? Cause they have a good core and draft well to have good players on cheap contracts.

The question about the 3rd and 1 call is a legitimate one. The fact he would make the same call to pass from a no back set after what happened is concerning.
I always worry about the bye weekend. It's like a vacation before the playoffs and the Lions aren't the first to show it. It was not a good ending to a great season. The Lions should be proud of the work they have put in and the way the team has turned around!

All part of the script. The NFL changed from a sports league to an entertainment company so they could legally rig games. Sportsbetting ruined the game. How many people thought it was a sure bet the Lions would win? A LOT of people lost money to the house on this one.

The financial pressure to rig games, given the vast amounts of money that can be so easily won or lost, is monumental today.

I'm convinced Goff was concussed from that dirty hit. It clearly affected him. Only fault I have for Johnson, and It has bugged me on and off for 2+ years. 3rd and 1, top rushing offense...empty backfield. He's done it multiple times, and it's usually gone poorly. In this case, it really changed the game. My complaint, if I had one, is mostly on Glenn. After loosing Amik, you just can't go all out blitz on every play. I get he was tyring to do "something", but maybe just don't do "somethign bad" and give the offense a chance to regroup. Still, great run Lions, Coaches, Players, everyone else. Thank you for the awesome season! Ready for next year!

Yes, the D was decimated with injuries, which was all the more reason to keep what was left, primed, prepared, and rested. If I didn't know any better I'd say something stinks here, BAD.

Gibbs need get 60% of run plays. Before with Jamo breaking out I said no longer necessary to draft or sign an up-and-coming elite WR3 behind Jamo or before. But I still feel a 3rd WR is a very good idea in solidifying us as best Offensive for years to come given maintaining an Offensive Line and elite QB under pressure.
But now we have to look at how Montgomery will recover in full form or not, plus he will be 28.
However, our MAIN priorities Must be DE, DE (opposite Hutch and Depth and especially as we do not know if Huth will return to full form). And then upgrading our Defensive / Offensive Line while adding Depth.

I love this team and am so thankful for them and don't want to criticize at all, but if there's one question I have is, am I right that the defense never really seemed set (and I'm not talking about the 12 men on the field). It just seemed to me that they were constantly still shifting around pre-snap. It felt to me like the players had complicated scheme to remember (to contain Daniels, etc.) and they never quite had it 100%.
Everybody's got a hand in that loss except jamir Gibbs and Aiden Hutchinson... They deserved this win. I wish Hutch was out there

Dan Campbell would never blame his OC and DC for the loss because of their interviews. They are all adults, professional athletes and experienced coaches who know how to prepare. To put it simply, they didn’t execute when it mattered most. Goff missed his targets and had better targets he over looked. Rewatch that game and you’ll see they were dialing plays up on offense to stay in the game. The one overly cute trick play with Jaymo was unnecessary, yes…but hey, we should be used to that wacky play calling from BJ based on what we saw from his bag of tricks during the regular season. The defense essentially had only one stop, which was the first series to start the second half. That’s football, they didn’t get the stops to get over the hump in that game and committed multiple turnovers by the most important skilled position on the field.
