I Made GIZMO From A Block Of Aluminum! Metal Casting Gremlins

- In this video I will be casting Gizmo from the movie Gremlins. I started by 3D printing Gizmo using polycast filament. I then added the wax sprue's and made a mold of him using investment plaster. The plaster mold was then placed in the kiln to melt out all of the wax. I melted down an ingot block of aluminum and poured the molten metal into the mold. After the aluminum solidified, I removed the solid aluminum gizmo and cut off all the sprue's. I then fixed some imperfections by hand with my rotary tool. Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a great week so far. I’ve always like Gremlins and Gizmo is my favorite so it seemed like a fun piece to make. I hope you all enjoy it. 👍🏻
I saw Gremlins way too young (I think I was like 5) and they gave me nightmares, haha :D Lost wax casting is an interesting casting method. Great result! :)
That has got to be the cutest piece of Aluminum that I've ever seen!
Now days, with the internet and seeing how so many things are made. You can’t help but make memories of items from childhood. Nice. I like the blend on the head, can’t tell.
Good choice for a project, it cleaned up better than I expected when I saw the defect.
I remember that movie. Lol.
Sweet Gozmo buddy!
My girlie loves it too!
He's a shiny fella!
Lotsa great work!
Thanx for a great vid Adam!
Thanks buddy 👍🏻
That was badass! He's also my favorite. Ummm.... Green Ranger or White Ranger morpher from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers?
An excellent job! Especially fixing the flashing on the head.
Really nice work fixing the sculpture and blending it in 👍
Привет!хорошая работа!отлей шахматы,доску,фигурки
Gizmo….. kaka…. Lol….. you should do Spike, the Mohawk gremlin. He was my favorite. Gizmo was too cute 😜
Ha yeah I liked him too
Very well done. I love Gizmo and the other Gremlins too. It was awesome how you blend the hairs on the head. Nice one. 👍👍
Greetings from Bavaria
Try the Marvel Konchu statue I did mine in bronze from watching you 👍
I’ll have to look that up as I’m not sure what that is
You patched it up really nicely. Could make a cube? We don't see many of those.
sweet job.
Looks awesome 👌.
I love the movie Gremlins in fact I have Gremlins 1 and 2 and can you try to make other gremlins
I loved Gizmo I wish I had one
Dido 👍🏻

I like ur all videos ❤ it's soo nice
Love from India
Cute.
rất thú vị 🎉
I’m reminded of gremlins everyday bc my husband got that nickname while working at Disney and he legally added it to his name so on drivers license birth certificate of our kids our marriage license and he got it be he wore this crazy rain outfit when it rained here and he’s an i.t. Guy
I hope you've got a couple of weld spots on the baseplate and the tube. If you do get a breakthrough, the pressure and heat of the metal can cause the pure siilcone seal to break, and the metal to lift up the tube itself. If they're tacked and covered over with silicone (inside coat cant' hurt too lol) then you're safer. With how big you've made yours, it's more of an essential safety tip lol They cut off with an anglegrinder in hallf a second, but save you from puddlle of fun xD
(Yes, I found that out the hard way lol)
Gremlin next.
I think you did an awesome job! Love seeing your process on these statues! How long did it take you to clean it up? You did a great job blending the hair in!
Thank you. Probably about 2 hours for this one to clean up.
Nice work🤗 Though maybe that wasn't Gizmo, maybe that was Spike instead with that little deformity on his is head sort of resembled Spike's mohawk. Afterall you did dunk it water to cool off.
thanos fist if u havent yet :p glove whatever u wanna call it😛
Love it!!😎🤘🤙 What do you think happened to cause spot on his head? I would think the vacuum would have prevented that 🤔
I’m really not sure, maybe the plaster broke off a little.
Two areas of restricted flow on in- gate caused turbulence. At his feet #1 and feed from below pouring basin to where split for feet. Either maintain flow with a constant cross section in gates or restrict gate and feed from bottom. And plaster still has bonded water in matrix, so molten aluminium fell from feet ~ 4 in to head area, abraded away soft area where you added 2nd pour casting plaster, less silica particles there and big temperature shock.
Doubt you need the vacuum while casting Al even though jewelry guys swear by the process. If it worked as proposed, why would you need vents at ears, hands etc?
Just my experience, since 2005, YMMV.

What heat bricks do you use? I tried a couple off amazon and they seem to fall apart immediately.
I use fire bricks from a local fire place outlet....
What did you do to add the hair where it was smoothed out?
I used different bits on my rotary tool to blend it.
Any from the 2nd batch with the lady Gremlin kissing Robert Picardo??
NOOOOO!!! You're submerging him in water! You're exposing him to sunlight!
Don't get him wet hehehe
what happened to303 castings i cant get into there web site
He shut it down because he wasn’t selling enough to make it worth it.
@@ArtByAdrock okay thanks
how about an ewok from star wars?
I’ve done that in a previous video. Here’s the link. 👍🏻

Someone has been watching @BigstackD
