Excellent piece of video - especially the way you provided town names, counties, highway #'s, the map & additional information pertaining to your trip.
It reminded me of the grass-covered sand hills & winding creeks of Nebraska that are surprisingly beautiful when the grass is lush green most of the Spring & periodically during Summer. IMHO people who get bored need to learn how to notice things & make a good time wherever they go. ;-)When I work w/ people planning their road trips I tell them "If you don't get off the Interstate, you'll never see the country."Thx for sharing.

I got a kick out of watching this. Back in the early-to-mid 90s, I used to make the drive from South Dakota to Illinois a few times year. Each time I took I-90, which was roughly a 920 mile drive, with about 900 miles of that being on the interstate. I agree with what you had to say about the hills and the grasslands having a unique, peaceful beauty of their own. My two favorite areas of the trip were crossing the Missouri River in Chamberlain (especially driving East-West, because you don't see the valley until you actually reach it) and the last 15 miles of driving through Minnesota before you cross the Mississippi River into Wisconsin. I always enjoyed that drive and watching this brought back a few fond memories. Thanks for posting your video!.

I live about an hour from Rapid City, so this is pretty neat. Whenever I'm traveling to Minneapolis, I always fly, so this is probably a good idea of what it looks like

Did this drive a couple years back. Started in southeast Wisconsin to Seattle with national parks in between. It was a great trip! This video helps relieve part of the trip always loved crossing the Missouri.

Took that same route on a family trip about 40 years ago. 12 hours of treacherous boredom. Only wish
it was a time lapse. Cool vid!

This video was recorded exactly 10 years ago. At that time, there was a LOT of rain and flooding around here in the Twin Cities. Fast forward 10 years later in June 2024, and it’s the same story! Lots of flooding around the Twin Cities, specifically around the Minnesota River valley for the most part, resulting in closures of multiple roads and bridges. Someone let me know more info on this weather event this month, and more sources from the 2014 vs. the 2024 floods, because I just used my memory.

I really liked this a lot. I had ancestors who lived in Spearfish and others from my home town who had a gold mine in the black Hills.

This was a nice video. A stretch of roadway I may never drive in my life so it's nice to see it here. The rolling hills are oddly satisfying though I imagine driving through them might get a bit boring.

+Josh.0 The drive was boring at times, but overall ended up being a fun one.
Even though I've lived in Minnesota most my life, I had never
been out to the Dakotas. Cruising I-90 going 95 to 100 MPH through large
stretches was quite an experience. Plus the landscape is more beautiful
and bizarre once you pass west of the Missouri River. We could see the
Black Hills looming in the distance once we were about 100 miles outside
Rapid City. Just an interesting change from the typical landscapes seen
      here in Minnesota.

That adds time. MN 60 and US 169 are only 5 mph less most of the way. It's a way better drive on the Minnesota River Valley, too.

US-169 and MN Highway 60 are 4 lanes from the Twin Cities all the way down to the Iowa border, so it’s 65mph now!

In the Minnesota part of the Video, The Speed Limit is 60 on MN-60 in its Two Lane Segments. The Speed Limit is 70 on I-90 and when you enter South Dakota on I-90 Wᴇsᴛ, The Speed Limit becomes 80.

      @josheigenberg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Syrup Of Nature they got rid of the 2 lane sections of 60 between St James and Windom a like 3 years ago. The only places you need to slow down are St Peter, North Mankato, Mankato, Lake Crystal, Windom and Worthington. The speed limit on the open sections is 65.
