I actually uploaded all 43 pictures to Google maps. The Dinosaur Park features every dinosaur fossil that has been found in the Black Hills. Main Street Square and the downtown area was my favorite part of the city. The park system along Rapid Creek was a result of the 1972 flood. One of my favorite activities in the summer was driving to Hill City and taking the 1880 Train from Hill City to Keystone and spend the day going to all the shops and restaurants.
Thanks for visiting my city! If you have the time, check out the 1880 Train and the South Dakota State Railroad Museum in Hill City, a wonderful little town full of art shops.

I’m been living in rapid city since 2004, it’s a wonderful place to live. But the winters can be rough. It’s not a boring place to be honest. We locals love hiking and to go to other small towns in the hills. The autumn time is when you should come, cause we do a lot of haunted houses etc. the Alex Johnson is also haunted.

Custer state park is awesome, rapid creek has a history of a flood in the 1972 , the area at the park once’s had houses that was lost in the flood and 237 lives were lost.

I happened to come across this video. Rapid city is a border town to the oglala lakota native reservation, about an hour away. Thats where im from. But hardly anyone ever talks about us, so i hope you get a chance to visit. Wounded knee is a hit spot for travelers.
Nice looking city. I know someone who's moving there in the near future. It looks like a peaceful place to live. I'm glad George is in front of Starbucks, he can pop in for a cup of coffee. Coffee use to be referred to as a cup of George, not Joe as it currently is.

I’ll have to say that your Videos of west Nebraska and on to South Dakota as well as this one really shows how beautiful this area of the country is! Thanks for doing them and doing a great job on them!
We just spent 4 days in Rapid City , gorgeous terrain. We went to Badlands, Custer Park, Iron Mountain , and Mt Rushmore , we will return. Our four days were not enough, but we packed in alot in those days. I will have to say that Sioux Falls had far better restaurants .
One of the best cities and areas you have been to. Mountain communities are always good, because they understand hardship and look after each other, the same as fishing and mining communities.
It is one of the best places, Roy. The shear amount of things to see in the area is unreal. Absolutely one of the best vacation destinations in the United States. I've still got videos of the area coming (Sturgis & Deadwood).

We got there last summer just after you took this video, and spent two superb weeks touring the Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis, Devil's Tower WY, and everything else shown here. Rapid City rocks, and I only wish we could move there, but alas, lots of other people are thinking the same and pushing up housing prices to unaffordable levels. We visited Sturgis just after the bikers' rally, and there were still quite a few sticking around. One thing I noticed is that motorcycles seem to be a senior citizen affectation these days, with a paucity of younger bikers around. Oh well.

Thank You so much for all Your interesting vlogs. I've been once in the USA. 2009, in Memphis, Tupelo and more. As early as I have information about my ancestors I know one borned 1767 in Sweden. 1866 a tuff woman, Hilda Maria Hjelmberg was born in Sweden the 4th of November 1866. She was one of the first in our family to emigrate to America. Dec 19, 1888, she married another Swede in Schickley Nebraska. You can't imagine how many ancestors are living in the USA after them. Most of them still live in South Dakotha. After watching many of Your videos from abandoned small cities in the USA, I'm happy my relatives found a good place to live. Most of the ancestors live and died in a place called Chamberlain, South Dakota. Can You please make a video of that place. Thanks again for Your interresting videos with good informations. Best regards to You, Your beautiful wife and pretty daughter. Keep on!
i am planning a visit to us next year and your videos are very informative and i will be using the information to plan what i see when i visit these places great job
FIrehouse Brewing 👍went there in 2014. Mt Rushmore does a night lighting of the side of the mountain I think at 1830. One of the locals will correct me. And they honor current serving and veterans bring them to the front and ask them how long they served where they are from etc. Pretty cool to see.
If you are bound for Sturgis please take in some races. At Sturgis are the short track, hill climb, and motocross. The half mile race is now in Rapid. The Sturgis motorcycle rally and RACES were what Sturgis was originally all about. Mainly races and touring the Hills.
Right off the bat you passed the hanging tree. The original tree was still there when I first saw it. Mount Rushmore was more impressive, to me, before the remodeling that was done in the 1980's but still a must see.
I live here in rapid And I gotta say you are about a week too early the rally is just about to start up and that’s when sturgis is a whole different town. Also while your up in the sturgis deadwood area, consider driving through spearfish canyon the sights can be very beautiful this time of year

I'm happy to see this, I live here in Rapid City, SD happy you came to see everything, mine daughter loves to come to the park you have seen first.
On a quiet day.. no high speed chases or shootings that day lol
@@obeydefi6312 North side be wild. Tryna go skate at the skatepark but get robbed by 16 year old kid with a Glock and 30 round magazine😂 Barely I mean nothing happens on the south side though. They should build a skatepark on the Southside so no one would be getting jumped n robbed
I love this video ,I lived in Rapid City a couple years .
Thank you for the kind words, Rick!!
From WC, I’ve never been west of Omaha, where my oldest brother lives, but his oldest son lives in Rapid City! I’ll have to say that your Videos of west Nebraska and on to South Dakota as well as this one really shows how beautiful this area of the country is! Thanks for doing them and doing a great job on them!
Thank you, William. We love those places. 😀
Absolutely 🤞
Glad u like my home town
Sioux Falls is a foody mecca. One of the nicest mid sized city's in the US.
I spent the night in Rapid City on my way to Billings. I wasn't stormy when I was there so I could have explored more of the city.
@@JoeandNicsRoadTrip my now deceased older brother was a biker from the 70's. He rode a Honda Gold wing 650, Yamaha 250, Kawasaki 500? and many more besides. He owned seven at one time and did stewarding on motor rallies in Wales where he was based as a RAF an electronic mechanic on Jaguars and Hawker Hunter jets.
I'm glad you got to enjoy my beautiful city and state of Rapid City, SD! (I even saw you went through my original hometown of Gordon, NE!)
Great town. :)
Oh well.
I've lived in 42 different countries during my life I never saw the states too much just lived in Texas a lot. So I really appreciate watching your videos of the United States
Beautiful town I could live there, great vid once again cheers.
I learned a detour around Wyoming, it starts near Rapid City. Get off I-90 @ US 85 North to Belle Fourche, turn left on US 212 West you'll end up @ Crow Agency, Montana & back on I-90 West
Yes rapid city if been there many times my ex family used to live there we liked the Black Hills Better !! 👍
I’ve been a resident of Rapid for many years now. I hope you enjoyed the Rally time
Thank You so much for all Your interesting vlogs. Keep on!
Last Time i was in rapid it was the night before the flood. It’s nice to see how beautiful it was restored
im not sure how I missed this video, but a huge shout out from the Robinsdale area Rapid City!
i am planning a visit to us next year and your videos are very informative and i will be using the information to plan what i see when i visit these places great job
Cool!
Thank you for coming
If you are bound for Sturgis please take in some races. At Sturgis are the short track, hill climb, and motocross. The half mile race is now in Rapid. The Sturgis motorcycle rally and RACES were what Sturgis was originally all about. Mainly races and touring the Hills.
My Grandfather, Bob Riggio was the weatherman there. He shows me tons of things to do. Rapid is my second favorite city in all of America so far.
Right off the bat you passed the hanging tree. The original tree was still there when I first saw it.
Mount Rushmore was more impressive, to me, before the remodeling that was done in the 1980's but still a must see.
Kurt 😗
When you read my pseudo you know why I am here! Thank you for your documentary!
Cool Video, thanks for sharing
I have family in spearfish SD.
The energy there is very mayberry...
Love it.. dont love the cold tho
How funny, you both were there while we were, we even went to the Firehouse brewing co. for dinner. Went to Deadwood, Keystone and Sturgis as well.
Great minds think alike. :)
Thank you very much for nice video
Really interesting! South Dakota is the only state west of the Mississippi that I haven’t visited yet. This video makes me want to go!
Another great place to visit Mt. Rushmore Birds / Paws Pet Bakery located in Haines Station Shopping Ctr. Operated by Barbara Paur, my sister!
I live here in rapid And I gotta say you are about a week too early the rally is just about to start up and that’s when sturgis is a whole different town. Also while your up in the sturgis deadwood area, consider driving through spearfish canyon the sights can be very beautiful this time of year
Oh also if you go to the hills consider passing Pactola reservoir . It’s my favorite lake in this side of the state, and when you go over the damn the view is very nice
It's very heart warming to see all these comments about my home town thank you all
thanks for the video , have fun in Sturgis
Thanks for this video. Wanting to leave Michigan for happier lands, and I believe South Dakota is it!
Rapid City is one of our favorite cities. There's so much to do there, and it's beautiful.
Michigan is beautiful. I ❤ it. Just came back from Black Hills a week ago. The area is gorgeous , hiking awesome. But the 15 h drive kills. You have to drive longer😢 if not flying. Greetings from Chicago.
Dont like Gretchen?
@mheyk01 It isn't just witler. The people in this state have become exceptionally violent. Plus my driver's license was suspended for a debt to a company. No points and no charges of a crime,
