  • 4 days with intent to paddle and explore both lochs. A weather window of the most perfect autumn weather before the storm . We had to adjust our plans and not commit to Loch Affric in order to have an easy escape to road before the winds arrived from the East! The drive home was frightening to say the least!

Another awesome video. Perhaps my favourite location close to home for canoe tripping.

Hi Andrew. Im from Canada. Canoed the Great Glen in 2014. Do you have a map of your route. Where did you put in and where did you take out. Awesome scenery. Love the video.

    Hi Duncan,
Thanks for your kind words I appreciate it.
We planned to put in at the dam at the E end of Loch Beinn Mheadhoin paddle a bit then camp. The following day would see us to the top of the loch then a portage on the left (south) up the track to Loch Affric then on up to the big sandy beach at the head of Loch Affric. 4 days in total.
However storm Babet saw us having to reviewing the plan as we didn’t want to be stuck at the W end of Loch Affric and having to paddle back into 40 mph winds from the East.
So we just put onto the loch paddled an hour, camped in a wee spot where we stayed for 3 nights and just explored the area.
On my birthday we paddled back to the car and took a wee drive to go visit the incredible Plodda falls.
Not the trip we planned but it turned out to be a lovely relaxing family trip.
Drop me an email to andyjamieson30@gmail.com if you’d like screen shot of a map.
I must say I love watching videos of canoe tripping in Canada. It’s definitely on my list of things to do one day. Happy paddling and thanks for reaching out.
    Kind regards
    Andy
