What a year for budget knife companies, Civivi coming strong all year. Kizer has been killing it. Along with Kubey. If Kubey used some better blades even 14c, 154, S30(5) they'd probably be king of the year. Another company who came strong was CJRB and Artisan. The Artisan ARION and Sirius are both amazing knives. QSP/Finch both good this year, even had some other companies come with the heat, Petrified fish among several others. I hope next year is just as good or better. I'm looking forward to Kubey upping their materials, if they do that it may be game over
For sure. At first it was like eh ok ok, things are getting better for budget. Going from pure crap to alright. But now it's like things are ramping up more than I expected. Looking at some budget stuff like ok ok I wouldn't kick her outta bed type deal lol

Thanks to you Dr. j I now run thru your mental checklist when I see a new knife. I’m like okay the access to the liner looks good, the choil cutout isn’t the best but clears the plung grind enough and I could extend it out later with no problem. The inset Micarta scales looks like good quality, great thumbstud placement, and action looks great with an early detent! It’s a go!

I do the same shit. I check the handle over. Then I check the action. Check centering. Check blade play. Check the detent. Check over the whole knife again 😅

This was recently on sale for $29.50, and I had to pick one up. I love the handle, and like you mentioned a stonewashed blade would have been preferable (or at least a blackwash).

Hey Jared I just got the Twosun 138 after seeing your review! When I got it it had a good kick with the flipper tab but I could tell it needed cleaning. After I put it back together it no longer has that kick way easier to fail, any suggestions?
See if something got caught in the detent hole when cleaning it, you can always adjust the detent strength

For msrp of $79 no way, not in a million years. In the $50s range it's selling for now, yeah sure. It's decent and I like it.

This design seems to be Kizer’s Elementum.
Another extremely boring elementum not even sure the people who come up with knives like this should be called designers yaaaaawn, NEXT!!!
@@57HEMIviken elementum was by civivi and is far different than this knife, I'm not sure we're are even looking at the same thing, completely different geometry and grind, completely different action, different blade shape, choil, ergos, size exc..
I meant it in the sense that the Begleiter, like the Elementum for Civivi, was a popular seller for Kizer so they came out with 200 different variants of the same basic design.
Really dig the scales…had to get one. Only Begleiter I have is the Ti Tanto premium version which I never really had a desire to use. Thanks man!

@@NeevesKnives Mine has death-lock…if your finger is anywhere near the lock bar it won’t flip. Otherwise it’s a gorgeous knife with a wicked grind!

LoL my man got way into the weeds on edges on this review. I love that passion on the subject though. I will say the Rapids appears to have a more neutral handle when you get past the finger cutout. If you just look at handles it seems to hold its dimensions the rest the way I’d the handle. This feels more like an office carry/formal event carry vs the Beg being a small knife meant to handle more heavier task. Nice review 👍🏼
It definitely does, it's far more comfortable in the hand choking up and in regular cutting grips.....it starts off as a pasture next thing you know your deep in the thick grass and can't see what direction your going 😆

How would you compare it to the Kizer Shard as an EDC knife ?
Extremely different no comparison, it's larger and more of a work/ user, and more versatile
For a small knife the shard is an awesome knife
The narrow blade is perfect for edc.

Boss knife, on my wishlist thanks to your vid. Off topic! I’ve noticed having watched your daily vids that you always have a black perpendicular black sharpie type mark top dead center on your left thumb. Pray tell, what is this for? I’m gonna guess that it is a trick you employ somehow to get the proper angle for sharpening and stropping? Would you be willing to talk about this in a video. Knife sharpening to me is such a fascinating and mysterious art craft. I am very intrigued.

Come on Kizer we need a premium begleiter 2. With premium micarta/ Ti/ or Cf scales. And dont you dare put 3v on it, use s90v. Also keep the snappy thumb studs, no more flippers, there is enough flippin knives in this world. And if you make it a full height hollow grind nice and thin that would be the knife of the year next year. Come on everyone bug Kizer for this knife.

IMO. The studs on the Domin are having a life crisis. They don’t know if they wanna be thumb studs or external blade stops.

This is another reason why i love my zt0462 & 0460 because they stand out, they're not trying to copy anything else. Are they the best knives ever no but at least they have asthtetics and an actual design.
Well this is a designers design, so they just made it. But I would say that extremely useful designs are goingvto look similar in many ways but it's the subtle differences that make them awesome.
