One big knife Ive been carrying lately is the Cold Steel Ranch Boss 2. Its got an overall length of 9.25 inches with a 4 inch blade. It gives you that old school look and feel like a Buck 110 but with modern features like a liner lock.

    • @alpine1600s
      @alpine1600s ปีที่แล้ว

I picked up he RBII when it came out. It is patterned after an older folding hunter slip joint pattern, that evolved from a large toothpick or powder horn pattern that are actually comparatively larger than the 110.

One of their best models. Was initially named the broken skull and was a collab with Steve Austin. I’m guessing something ended with the collab so they renamed and remade the knife. Overall though, it’s the same knife.

I used to carry Spyderco Military back in the day and had a lot of fun with it. I lived in Calgary so a pocket knife didn't scare nobody, and I worked outdoor so big sturdy knife was a must. Military did all that and more. But then, small EDC folder wasn't exactly available in those days. Actually, word EDC didn't exist back then if I remember correctly. Now I'm carrying a Baby Banter and it's a good knife, handy and discreet. But oh lord, that new Spyderco Military 2 is calling me and it's getting harder to resist.

Heck yes! I love carrying big knives! I used to carry an XL cold steel Espada Voyager, then I moved. To the XXL Boker Kalashnikov, I accidentally broke the clip off it! Now, ironically, I carry a GEC slipjoint, but I also love and adore my Big Banter! I love big knives! I don't even have a practical argument for carrying a big knife, it just makes me smile when I whip out a big pocket knife to cut a box or something! These are some great knives you've mentioned here, I love the sheepdog! Almost pulled the trigger on it alot! Anyway great video absolutely awesome!

I like big knives too. I still have an old Cold Steel Gunsite folder I carried when I was a police officer/firefighter. On a bet I successfully pierced a junk car door with it and scratched it a little but it held the edge. And I love that old gas station. It made me harken back to my childhood. My favorite big knife now is the updated Spyderco Military 2.

My first big EDC knife was the Coldsteel AK47 (the same knife being tested at 2:40) . Super chunky but carries like a smaller knife. Carried it working outdoors as a beefy work knife for a long time. Had it until a couple of years ago when the blade broke a half quarter chunk out of the center. Sent it back in recently to see if they would warranty it and they did! My original one was old enough to be AUS8 and they upgraded me to S35V which was sick

I EDC'd a Cold Steel Recon 1 tanto with ultra lock all throughout college, adding on a large Voyager as a second knife just because lol. Double 4" knives might seem ridiculous but I also had a ton of art projects so they came in very handy. Nowadays, I have at least either a Spartan Harsey Folder or Endura 4 in K390 as a larger knife in pocket. Tri-ad lock Recon 1s have also made their appearances too.

For the past year my edc has been the CS 4max scout. Prior to that was the CS Espada XL for six years. In my opinion I dont regard the 4max as a big knife. Rather a perfect size. My issue with big folders are, apart from the 4max or Espada, is that other knife companies creat these beautiful big blades an then just slap a liner lock on it. I kinda feel that’s irresponsible of them. In my opinion liner locks are obsolete since we have frame locks and even access locks that give better strength. I would also love to see CRKT use the deadbolt lock to its full potential in a 4-5 inch cleaver folder. Thanks for the vid oak, always great content!

Well, as for Big EDC folding knives. I'm glad you mentioned some of the Cold Steel folders. But you talked about the small ones as far as I am concerned. I went a bit nuts and bought, the Cold Steel Voyager Clip point with 5.5 inch blade, and its the smallest. Then the Luzon, with a six inch blade. The Rajah II, you mentioned the Tanto version of that one Cold Steel Knife, but the Rajah II is a fold Khukuri, with a Six Inch blade, the Tri Ad lock and the blade thickness is right about 3/16ths of an inch. And its a beast. 14 inches over all. I'm glad you touched on the Espada, I have the XL version with the 7.5 inch AUS10a steel blade, and the G10 handles. About half the price of the Fancy one. I have a Buck 110, and I've had it for years, but its small when compared to the Cold Steel Folders. Oh, and all of the Cold Steel Folders, can be opened and closed, one handed.

Kizer Critical in titanium is probably the only knife I own in the large folder range, since I like stuff that sorta melts into you pocket, ie para 3, mini griptilian, or FN babycore. But that chunk of titanium fits great in in jeans or my lined work pants, in the colder months. Kizer and Cold Steel have some sorta dark arts department that turns these monster folders into surprisingly small footprints when on your person. Also sorta feels good carrying a overkill folder when I usually go for the smaller stuff.

Almost as figgity as a good balisong...my favorites atm are all Benchmade that I have a bunch of and one lone SOG Terminus XR. I'd like to see other brands of axis/crossbar lock knives, my collection is ever expanding.

Hmm...thought that the BUCK Selkirk (LG) is bigger & fun than the BUCK 110.? Do own a BUCK 110 though. To the Selkirk we crisp the spine so it would strike a ferro rod. Made a FRN sheath for it so it would hold both knife & ferro rod including a button compass & an Infinity X1 flashlight. It's an outdoor outback carry. Also on the in-side of the sheath attached a 1000 grid emerine cloth for quick field edge maintenance. We (fans in Australia) reckon you & Ben should do a road trip & visit your old buddies at Blade HQ, have a chat & coffee and a must check their pocket carry..!? A mission if you wish to accept it. This messade will not self distruct in 110 seconds. Cheers mate.

While making it thru RANGER SCHOOL, class 4-77 at the Mountain Ranger Camp one of the Ranger Instructors spotted the Randall #1 I had on my LBE. He immediately chewed me out for having a high speed knife which I might lose, being a dumbass, made me do about 25 pushups and sent me down to the PX to get a normal knife. I got a Buck 110 and for the rest of the twenty years I did in the Army, always had one with me. Think I got my first one in 1965, The original TACTICAL FOLDER.

Thank you for this video, I'm a huge fan of large EDC knives, the 4max scout is a beast and you are absolutely right about the sheepdog, it's definitely one of my most fun knives to carry. I'm curious on your thoughts about Cold Steel since being bought by GSM? Thanks again for creating the best knife content on TH-cam.

Spyderco Military with 3.75" CPM 440V blade. overall 9.5" Lightweight and slim. It's not cheap but well worth it.

Would love to see the flip side of this for some micro knives, great video!

For me, unless the blade, cutting edge is 4" or more, it's not a big knife. So for me the Buck 110 is a medium knife, despite it weighing 7oz.

Even in Texas I still get a couple eyebrows raised when I pull out my 110 I’ve been carrying it for a year now and i try out my other ones but I always go back to my 110

The big banter all the way, and it's a fair price for a great knife designed by a great guy. The buck is a good knife that I grew up using. Awesome video, brother Zach 💯👍

On a whim, I bought the Civivi Bullmastiff. It's big yet lightweight with the relief cuts in the liners. Great flipping action also. Also, I really like the deep carry pocket clip and color options...blue. The Kershaw Strata is interesting as well. One of the better options from them in a while. Love your channel, keep the vids coming.

Thanks for always being on point. Your delivery is always sharp and a cut above the rest. Lukas is asking if you will ever make a machete video. Cold Steel makes some gnarly ones. I just picked up the SLANT TIP MACHETE 21" from them. Goodbye, palm tree!

Looks like we might have to get a machete video on the books!
