Alan Parsons is a engineer who worked with the Beatles, Pink Floyd on several albums. He's a multi-instrumentalist and singer. He has Great albums. It's a project, different vocalist and musicians
Before he started the Alan Parsons Project with Eric Wolfson, Alan produced some great hit singles in the mid seventies by bands and artists like Pilot, Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel, Al Stewart and John Miles
You are forgetting a group that not only did he do all different things for them,, But also because of their talent,, He had them perform on his first album,, I am of course speaking of none other than "Ambrosia".
Alan Parsons OBE is an English audio engineer, songwriter, musician and record producer. Parsons was the sound engineer on albums including the Beatles' Abbey Road and Let It Be, Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon,
Love what people are saying about Alan Parson's career, his music, needing Sirius before this, and other songs. Tossing in Old and Wise. Due to the lyrics, the correct people know it is what I want played at my funeral.

This is a great album!! His song Old and Wise is one of my favorites.. I want it played for my funeral. You'd also like his Games People Play 1 & 2 albums.
A band that Professor of Rock talked about today is Sugarloaf. A 2hit wonder if you want to call them that - Green eyed Lady and Dont Call Us. Two great songs that you need to hear and review! This song (Eye in the sky) was the first song I've heard from APP - Great song!
Great song! The Alan Parsons Project were a Scottish/English rock band from the 70's-90's. They had a lot of hits in that time such as "The Raven", "(The System of) Dr. Tarr & Professor Fether", "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You", "Time", "Snake Eyes", "Old & Wise", "Games People Play", "Don't Answer Me" etc.
Let's Gooo! And this is why we claim the best music cane before the 90s 😅 I think we kinda took for granted how amazing our music was. Artists were just so talented. You could spend the rest or 2025 reacting to Alan Parsons, and it would be time well spent. Yes he worked on the last two Beatles albums and was the sound engineer on 'Dark side of the Moon' plus othersm but he left his best work for his own albums, PS: he is still performing live! and again you should have started with the song 'Sirius' as it is the lead in to this track.
Games People Play is another fantastic song by them. Time is one of my favorites and always hits me. Don't Answer Me, and so many more great songs. Let's go with it!
I'm pretty sure you've heard Alan Parsons before. The intro to this song is "Sirius". Shout out to whoever suggested this. Good choice. "Don't Answer Me" probably has had the most airplay after "Eye In The Sky". Parsons is an amazing arrtist/engineer/producer, and is an awesome live performer. Nice reaction Steven.🤘😎❤
Alan Parsons is an audio engineer/singer, songwriter/arranger etc, he has worked on some on the greatest's bands albums ever, including The Beatles and Pink Floyd, he deserves a lot more recognition than he'll ever get.
There's nobody like The Allan Parsons Project. They're so versatile and unconventional. Their first album was a collection of musical renderings of the works of Edgar Allen Poe, which was one of the most imaginative debut albums in musical history. They did multiple concept albums that would center around a certain theme. Allan Parsons was one of two people who were on every album. They had many different guest musicians and singers throughout their career. The other person who was on every album is the guy singing this song. 😮 Well, since I am the first to "Like" and comment, I would imagine we won't be seeing any more APP on your channel!?😫 I love your reaction, and they have a lot more! They are a little different and not for everyone, but that makes them special, imo😊. "I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You", "Games People Play", "Time", "Sirius", "Eye in the Sky", and "Don't Answer Me" are the most popular! Nice rabbit hole😊❤. Thanks for sharing🤙
There will definitely be more! Actually this video is not even live yet so I’m not sure how you found it! 🤣 But I should be able to release it this week and then you won’t be alone! 🤘🏻
The Alan Parsons Project is a big rabbit hole to go down. I first got into them in the mid 70's shortly after their first album Tales Of Mystery And Imagination when we were studying Edgar Allan Poe. The album is a concept based on Poe's writings and is brilliant. All of their albums are concept albums and best listened to in their entirety. Their second album is I Robot and based on the book by Issac Asimov's book I Robot. The third is Pyramid which was based on self help books like The Power Of The Pyramid. Fourth was Eve which is based on relationship issues. Fifth is Turn Of A Friendly Card which was based on Eric Wolfson's gambling issues. Sixth is Eye In The Sky which has elements of, IMO, people feeling the overreach of government or people looking into your life. All of the albums have a lot of orchestral and choral elements and are a great mix of mild, to rockers, to symphonic works that are so good. Every album is a journey, and create metaphors to let you come to conclusions as to the meaning of the songs. Alan's work with George Martin of Beatles fame starting around the time of Beatles Abbey Road as a tape/apprentice engineer helped shape Alan's growth. Alan worked with Paul McCartney on his early albums, was instrumental in the work on Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon and led him to produce Al Stewart for three albums, The Hollies, Pilot, Ambrosia, and others, and he actually turned down producing Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here album because he was starting his first album.
This is from before my time so i don't know that much about their music, but i know this song and "Don't Answer Me" are two of my favorite songs, EVER.
I like their second album, I Robot, The 1977 album draws conceptually on author Isaac Asimov's science fiction Robot stories, exploring philosophical themes regarding artificial intelligence.. The first track, I Robot, is a 6 minute instrumental with some very unusual sounds, which leads into I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You.
For years, I thought the APP songs where this vocalist sang lead were actually the Moody Blues. It wasn't until a friend of mine loaned me some APP CDs in the late 80s where I was corrected on a lot of my misperceptions. After that, while listening to the music she loaned to me, I was caught saying again and again, "They did that song, too?" I've always wondered how many millions of people have heard "Sirius" and didn't know where the song came from or who did it. I don't know how true it is, but back in the 80s a lot of people called them "the greatest band who never toured." They have a boatload of good songs. "Turn of a Friendly Card" "When I'm Old and Wise" are two of my favorites.
As a longtime Alan Parsons fan, I can't recommend them highly eniugh Check out: Games People Play Time I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You Old and Wise Don't Answer Me
** I Robot/I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You ** from the Brilliant Album I ,Robot 1977 by THE ALAN PARSONS PROJECT these two Songs Fade In With No Pauses they have to be heard 🎧 together because the Intro is an Incredible Rock Instrumental Masterpiece that leads leads to another Rock Vocal Masterpiece seamlessly without pause it's two of their epic greatest Classics + Many More Amazing songs w/ Various sounds
As I'm sure several others have already commented, you regrettably short-changed yourself of the better experience of listening to the combination of Sirius and Eye in the Sky.
As people have mentioned, Alan Parsons was an engineer at Abbey Roads studio. And the idea of the project seems to have been to put the engineering center stage. I think that is why on any given album nobody sings more than two songs. The idea seems to be that nobody should make the mistake of thinking the singer is the band. The singer on this song was Parson's writing partner, but even he only gets the two songs. It is mostly the same singers on each album, but the Eye in the Sky album has a song, Old and Wise, sung by the singer from The Zombies. Their first album, which was a collection of songs based on Edgar Allan Poe songs, has one song by Arthur Brown, which makes sense if you ever here Brown's song Fire. (He was a one hit wonder, who is perfect for capturing Poe). The only other band I know that is so engineer driven is the 90s band Garbage which was made up of three engineers from Madison Wisconson (responsible for breaking Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins) with a singer from Scotland.
Hey Steve from Ned n Janet in Spain. This is a good place to start but their LP Edgar Allen Poe Tales of Mystery and Imagination is absolutely amazing for the songs, musicians and production. Song 3, Tell Tale Heart has the incredible Arthur Brown on vocals. Many top players and arrangers are involved and from a recording stand point it's on a Steely Dan and Dark Side Pink Floyd level. Happy New Year, Peace and Good Health.
The Alan Parsons Project have a bunch of great songs for you to check out. Most of it is fairly mellow like this. Some great suggestions are Don’t Answer Me and has several essential albums. I Robot, The Turn Of A Friendly Card, and Tales Of Mystery And Imagination. He called it the project because he often used different people on the albums, specifically the lead vocalists. He did some backing vocals help but never really did any of the leads. The one person who was a consistent partner was Eric Woolfson until he passed away. He still occasionally puts out music. He was the engineer on Dark Side Of The Moon which is pretty much what gave him huge recognition.
From this album, please give a listen to Childen of the Moon, Silence and I, and especially Old and Wise. Also, the track that leads directly into Eye is called Sirius, which has been used for decades as intro music at sporting events.
Even though I am a huge fan of the big groups like Rush, Zeppelin, Stones, Pin Floyd - I aslo have a great fondness for artists like this, Toto, Dire Straits & ELO. If the first groups are A+ tier for me the second set are strong A tier. Other great song by them is Games People Play
You could call it a rabbit hole or a can of worms...either way, there is much. much more to hear! APP is always worth a listen. The LP Eye in the Sky is loaded.
Somehow you missed the Sirius intro to Eye in the Sky.... you might go back and listen to it from the beginning of Sirius to get the full effect and hear what you missed; once you hear it you'll realize you've known of Alan Parsons for years....
A couple songs off the album I Robot album are fire, I wouldn't want to be like you is probably the best cut. My personal favorite is Some other time. Much like Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon, which he produced, I Robot is meant to be listened to in its entirety.
In this episode, Alan Parsons shares insights from his prolific career, including his engineering work with legendary bands like The Beatles and Pink Floyd as well as his evolution into a headlining artist and producer with The Alan Parsons Project. Alan recalls his contributions to iconic albums such as "Abbey Road" and "The Dark Side of the Moon," shaping the sound of a generation. th-cam.com/video/xrS6LWHz-dk/w-d-xo.html
When Allan Parsons produced Year of the Cat for Al Stewart he went from a highly regarded artist who hadn’t really made it to a superstar. Listen to Time, The System of Doctor Tar and Professor Feather, Psychobabble.
If you want a real treat, give a listen to their album The Turn of a Friendly Card. It spawned two mainstream hits, one called Time, and the other titled Games People Play that are both fantastic on their own; that said, the entire album is an incredible concept album, and Side Two, which is the Turn of a Friendly Card Suite is an absolute masterpiece.

This is a great album. Possibly even better is the Alan Parson's album "The Turn of a Friendly Card" - wonderful!
You need to listen to the lead in instrumental Sirius before Eye in the Sky. This is like listening to Boston’s Long Time without Foreplay
My first introduction to this was in the 80's (I was 19 in '82)and I luv'd it 💟
This guy is one of the best music producers, hell he even produced the Dark side of the moon album.
So underrated. Awesome stuff.
Oh yeah, Alan Parsons was a top notch band when I was in high school. This rabbit hole is deep and mind bending.
