Correct. Airlines with large 777-300ER fleets won't start replacing them until the late 2020's. The reason why Japan Airlines ir starting to receive the A350-1000 now is that the airline got some of the earliest 77W's ever built.
What an end of an era…if the 777X ever gets certified, we’ll see if it lives up to it’s predecessors. Goodbye 777-300ER, we’ll see you in the skies long after the end of production and in freighter form! :-)
The worlds best plane, finally done. Now, lets see if the 777-x can ever live up. I do not think it will. but it certainly lives up better than the A350
With all the delays of the X and the max re-engineering fiasco, I’d feel more comfortable with these old series. At least they were built with sound engineering practices without too much interference from bean counters
The 777 is my favourite aircraft type. While it's sad that production has ended, I'm sure there's still many opportunities to fly on 777s. I've got two flights booked next month!
I was lucky enough to see first roll out of 777 at factory and first flight! 😃 Thing that amazed me at roll out was how many were in production at time. UAL planes. Never thought they would be building more of a plane that never yet flew 🤷♂️
Oh dear.. well yeah you are right, this had to happen, the Boeing 777-300ER was one of my favorite planes all time ever, i kept flying on it, have models of it and seeing boeing making its final passenger delivery is kinda sad.. end of an era.
One of the all time greatest aircraft!! The 777 effectively killed the quad jet and the 300ER put the last nails in the coffin. I’ve been lucky to fly on many of them. TAM from LHR to São Paulo will always standout. Never been through a worse storm on any flight. Not sure I’d feel quite so safe on a Dreamliner
There technically already is a name; the -200, -200ER and -300 variants are called Classic whilst the -200LR, 200LR based pure freighter and -300ER variants are called literally 2nd generation. The -8, -8F and -9 3rd generation variants are called X
Really sad to hear this. 777 was a great aircraft. Though, with the A350, many airlines are turning towards it. I think it's like MD, Boeing would eventually come to an end.
The only fatality on any 777-300ER was on that Singapore Airlines flight in that very high turbulence (well within safety margins) and even that was solely because the poor guy had a heart attack
@@crazylife726the aircraft itself has nothing to do with turbulences. Its to the passengers to remain fasten seatbelt and not be scared by some turbulences
I've been on many second generation 777's, the 777-200LR (Delta) and the 777-300ER (Virgin Australia). Of course, those two airlines don't fly them anymore
Boeing was really counting on starting deliveries for the 777-9 in 2025. Plenty of reports have indicated that 777-300ER production has ended some time ago and existing unfulfilled orders were either converted to the 777-9 or 787-9/10. Boeing management really messed up big time and all their cost cutting and profit favoring has finally caught up to them where they literally have nothing to compete with the upcoming introduction of HGW Airbus A350-1000 coming later this year. The 777 had a lot of selling points for airlines that were unrivaled at the time of introduction. 10-across economy was only ever seen on Trijets and Quadjets, 777-300 variants rivalling the 747 in terms of range and capacity. But now, there's more competition than ever and I feel like airlines are still a bit hesitant to commit to the 777-9 as they don't know what the operating economics of the 777-9 would be compared to an A350-1000 which can also perform the same missions as the former especially with the new HGW variants that can fit 10-across economy. Ultimately, the 777-9 is in the same position as the MD-11 was back in the 90s, only this time, the rivals are more efficient composite aircraft with the same payload and range but better fuel burn and it's a matter of proving how competitive the 777-9 is to the newbreeds in pure efficiency.
The A350-1000 is a fantastic plane but you are definitely underestimating the 777x here. I mean you say it like no one wants one. I get that the A350-1000 is already out but that doesn't mean you can get one. Also the 777x already is already outselling the A350-1000 without even being out. 777x has slightly above 500 orders while the A350-1000 has had 252 orders in its lifetime (Figure includes future orders and delivered). Airbus is great and all but it's got its fair share of significant problems and it's quiet because all eyes are off them. I mean no one really noticed that Airbus just paid the largest fine recorded so far for corruption and bribing in 16 separate countries to get plane sales. Their fines and only fines were approximately $4 billion worth, not to mention that fine got about a 50% discount because they managed to self report as things were being looked at. I mean that's only one of the issues. Not to excuse Boeing as their recent management has managed to be a complete POS and they deserve the hate.
I really hope Boeing can get the 777X introduction soon. When many of these first gen 777’s and A380’s reach retirement, the more at risk they are of losing orders to the A350.
I didn't know until today (24/1/2025) that Boeing produced the last Boeing 777-300 ER in 2019 and Ethiopian airlines took the last delivery of this aircraft. 😲
With all the bad Things that are going on at Boeing the 777-300er is still my Favorit plane. I think its elegant and with those glorious GE90 very cool aswell. Flown on it 3 times, allways booked the seat at the front of the wing for sound and good view on the GE90
yeah so i dont think this is true. the 777-300 ER has been ordered by one other airline that i know of (maybe more but i havent checked). PIA ordered 5 new 777-300's that have yet to be delivered which means that this isnt the last delivery but the most recent and the only one in 2024.
I have been on many of these as a pax and great planes! Comfortable, nearly zero times as a pax with mechanical delays, great! Not looking forward to the new problematic 777-9 built by a companies whose workers loathe management and vice-versa all while trying to maximize profits at any cost.
It’s a shame Boeing can’t get its crap together and build anything new. There are many questions regarding the current viability of the projects they are claiming are on their books. There’s a high probability they will never be a 737 max 10. OrMax 7. There’s also a high probability that the triple 7-9 is still another five years out…
The 777 has more than 2000 orders as of december 2024. So its not the last 777 delivered at all and most of these orders are for passengers. I dont understand the purpose of that video
The -300ER was so ahead of its time. Still dominates in many airlines’ wide body fleets
Yea, many airlines still decided to receive the 77W in the 2010 decades and have held back airlines from ordering A35K.
At the cost of economy class passengers' comfort.

Very interesting that 300-ER just delivered now, makes me smile every time I see it beautiful aircraft, and we’re still building 777 F cargo planes

This plane needed a composite made fuselage, not bigger wings.
