    The pick ups are Lace sensor. Fender insists on keeping this under wraps. Burton insisted on the sensors, Fender said no so Burton was ready to walk away from the project. Fortunately Fender caved because this is an awesome guitar.

    This definitely the Telecaster for true “git-tar picking”!🤣 It has all the tone and vibe of a traditional Tele in a sort of Strat pick up configuration. A really diverse guitar and it looks fantastic! I honestly thought it would be more expensive than it is, being a signature model, but I feel it’s priced within reach of Tele fan who strives for a total tone exploration! Really tasty licks Ben! Hopefully we’ll see you and Shane whip up a funky jam soon! Cheers!🎸🎸🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾😎

    I have a 90s version of the Burton Tele-it’s a beautiful cream…with Lace Sensors-though the flames are special!

      I have the 90s gold on black. I did have both the cream and the red, great guitars, but sometimes you've just gotta have all the bling.

    Nice review and playing, in spite of a few hiccoughs! Fender using basswood? My Sawtooth body is basswood. Ditto for the maple neck. Too bad my pups aren't as hot as those!

    Wow! Sweet looking guitar obviously, but it sounds cool with those pickups! Almost weird hearing a tele that sounds like this. Sweet video man.

    Damn, Ben. Watching you play is just great, smooth. The guitar is cool too. Keep it up, ask for more money.

    I'm not a fan of basswood body or flame painted guitars but since this is a signature model i guess James Burton requested the basswood. The great Eddie Van Halen also preferred basswood. This guitar looks really sweet and sounds great. Ben did a great job demonstrating what it can do, great demo.

    Had the absolute pleasure of meeting with James Burton several years ago and had an amazing conversation about guitarists. I didn't bring up Elvis once (yes, I am a fan) because I wanted to know more about the picker man. lol

  • @Bettys_Eldest
    @Bettys_Eldest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No it shoud not be called the Hellecaster, the Hellecasters were Will Ray, John Jorgenson and Jerry Donahue, three Telecaster players, arguably just as good as James Burton. It would not be appropriate to take their name, Burton is good enough to carry it.

    As always great playing from fireman Ben! Cool guitar but hate slab bodies I am needy and like my contours!

    James is from right here where I live. So is Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Lead Belly and some other people 👌 Theres a statue of James next to a statue of Elvis out in front of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium, which is just a few miles from where I currently sit. The statue of Lead Belly is right around the corner from them 😎🙏
    We don't have a statue of Kenny Wayne but we do have Kenny Wayne Shepherd Day on Feb 12th every year to honor Kenny here in Shreveport. This year was the first year for it. 👌
    James does great stuff for the community here. His Foundation donates instruments and stuff to local music programs and so places can start music programs all the time. 👍👍

    I keep toying with purchasing this tele. JB is a guitar hero of mine, although I would be more interested in either the straight-up storied Paisley Tele or the 'ol butterscotch he would play from his Ricky Nelson days.

      Yeah a lot of artists from back in the heyday jumped to “modern” tech back in the 80’s and early 90’s and kinda abandoned the vintage stuff. I guess the convenience of noiseless or lace pickups to a touring and studio pro is worth the 10% sacrifice in “tone”. Us fans though want the sound cuz most of us don’t face the troubles caused by single coils in a loud amp on a stage 😂

    About 8 years ago I upgraded a MIM Nashville Deluxe Telecaster with the James Burton loaded pickguard with the same Lace Sensors, S1 switch configuration. Added a Babicz bridge, Sperzel locking tuners. The guitar is rock solid stays in tune forever and perfectly intonation with the Earvana compensated nut. However the pickups are on the dull side not sounding spanking clear and clean like your guitar. do you know the pot and cap values in this guitar? Thank You

    I have a 90's gold on black original series JB Telecaster. The neck is pretty chunky, though not as big as my 50s Baja. It does not have the S1 switching, but I never use it on my Baja. It has a set of Lace Sensors, position 3 is neck + bridge. There is no option of middle only. Great guitar, just different from my other Teles.

    The pickups are just unbranded lace sensor silver and to my knowledge the only current production fender with lace sensors

    Hey Shane my main guitar is a player series strat and for my amp I have an orange cr60c. I’m looking to buy a telecaster so I’d love to hear your take on a shootout between the squier classic vibe 50s and the 2021 made in Japan 50s telecaster. 😎🤘

      The CV50s is a great guitar for the money, but the MIJ guitars coming out now are in a different league. Pickups and pots are now first rate, which used to be the weak spot with MIJ Tele's.

  • @jeremybaker195
    @jeremybaker195 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really like the series/parallel switch as a option. I have a Baja tele and i loved it. They discontinued the Baja and I was thinking I wanna get another one before they get hard to find them I went to a shop and they have Fender 50s Vintera tele thats basically the same just different color options. I really like mine

  • @caseylee12
    @caseylee12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice axe!! But on my last build, I went in the completely opposite direction... Strat body with strat neck-strat middle-telecaster bridge pickups, with a telecaster bridge, and added the Gilmore Mod to get the bridge/ neck combo. Natural finish for the ashe body, maple strat neck. I guess this is my "Frankenstein" guitar 🎸!

    • @Bettys_Eldest
      @Bettys_Eldest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't know if the latest series is the same, but my original 90s gold paisley on black gives neck + bridge in position 3, you don't have the option of middle only.

    • @caseylee12
      @caseylee12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Bettys_Eldest yeah, I had to put a jumper wire and a mini toggle switch on it to get it to do that, but I just couldn't do without that Tele "neck/bridge" thing 😆

    I hope i am not too late to ask a question here but I would like to know if these pickups sound massively different from the lace noiseless pickups that were on the previous James Burton models coz it may affect my purchase decision.
    Thanks so much.

    • @intheblues
      @intheblues  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's no info on the pickups. They were Lace Sensor's originally, but these are probably Fender's version of the same thing. You could always add in some Lace Sensors if you wanted to, but these do have that same sort of sound.

    • @paullee6676
      @paullee6676 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@intheblues thanks so much for your quick answer.
      The reason why I am asking this is that my guitar hero, one who comes from Hong Kong, is famous for using an older version of James Burton, with Lace Noiseless pickups. He even modded his guitar so that position one and two on the pickup switch give the same bridge + middle pick up sound.
      He also uses mesa boogie amps
      I now own a hughes and kentter tubemeister 40.
      I am wondering which piece of gear should i purchase first if i want to get closer to the sound. amp first or guitar first.
      thanks sooo much again.

    This guitar already looks great but man, a roasted maple neck would've fit the guitar and the theme much better

    • @misterknightowlandco
      @misterknightowlandco 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Honestly, I think just doing a dark amber tint on the neck would fit the whole 50’s hot rod vibe, but yeah anything would be better than the plain white-ish maple neck left plain.

    I hate to be the guy who reviews a reviewer..lol..but tell him to stick to what he likes to play it will b a better sound for sure ..my questions are still does it weigh as much as your telecaster ...an relax he seams nervous , I see his chops shine through ...an Shane as funny as this sounds you have a better wheel house for jumping in an out of genre of music,..ik. your not a metal player or country twanger ...but u do a good job faking it ...maybe make the next video with km an you carry the rithym an he can lead ,or vice versa....
