Why we’re having bigger babies these days. Plus, what it means when you lose your mucus plug.

Baby Natural’s weighing in at 7, 8, or even 9 pounds this week, and is somewhere around 20 inches long.
There is no doubt about it, we are birthing larger babies than ever before in history. You can thank a constant and stable food supply for that one, as well as education. Unlike earlier generations, most moms don't smoke while pregnant (thank goodness!), which can lead to lower birth weight. We also have higher rates of gestational diabetes these days, which contributes to the bigger baby trend.
While some people may scare you into thinking that your baby could be "too big" to birth naturally, be aware that ultrasound predictions on size of baby are notoriously inaccurate. The truth is that no one truly knows how big baby is until s/he arrives. Of course, there are some very real reasons to induce, but baby's size is usually not one of them.

Baby could certainly come at any time. And, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably MORE than ready for the big day.
But statistically, you’ve probably got a little more bump time ahead of you. Most new mamas deliver about one week past their delivery date.
At this stage in pregnancy, you’re probably seeing more vaginal discharge than usual. If / when you see some “bloody show” in that discharge (a small bit of blood or blood-tinged mucus), your labor may be just a couple days away. Hooray! Here are more signs of labor.

Baby #2 is keeping me on my toes! Lost my mucus plug and had spotting weeks ago (I'm sure it has regenerated since). Lightening crotch has been going on for over a month.
Today, I'm 39+2 and have been having contractions, cramps, back pain non-stop for 2 days --it keeps me awake most of the night. I assume it's prodromal labour and things will move along any day now.

I'm 39 weeks this week my doctor wanna induce my labor on Friday morning at 6:00 a.m January 28th 2022 I can't wait I'm tired of having a lot of pain in my behind my lower back and my whole stomach Braxton Hicks contractions comes every 5 mins

I wanted to mention I am 35 weeks pregnant and have gestational diabetes. The midwifes and the ultrasound techs are really good at scaring me. I had an ultrasound and they said baby is measuring fine but i have excess fluid and they are "concerned" about it. Tomorrow I have an appointment with the midwife so they can go over the ultrasound. They also want me to go to the hospital to triage 2 x a week to monitor the baby's heartbeat. They just scare me with all this and they are making me doubt if I can birth naturally. I birthed my first naturally but with this one they are just scaring me for everything. It is so bad. It affects my anxiety
I’m 38 + weeks today and I feel the same way. I’m trusting that God is going to see me through. I’ve been focused on my diet and tracking my symptoms. They do scare us sometimes and it can mess with our anxiety. I think that’s why my blood pressure started to go up. Praying for a quick and easy delivery for you

I'm a 6ft tall woman lol I weigh 220 pounds and it's actually a decent weight for me [best weight for me is between 180 and 190]. But my daughter, born at 41 weeks, was 7 pounds 5 ounces. She's always been ahead in her charts as far as mental development, she's 3 and reads. But I honestly though my babies would be much heavier because I'm a freaking giant and my whole family is too. but nope lol Even I was 7 pounds 8 ounces at birth, third born to mom and dad. My brothers were a little heavier, I think, but not by much. Maybe 8 pounds. I'm 37 weeks with my first boy, so we'll see how big he is lol.

She sure did, she made her arrival on 2/16, I ended up getting COVID and having a c-section. NOT the birth I had expected but thankful to be healthy again and for a healthy baby girl 🤗. Thank you so much for your videos and sharing your mama love with us.
