Welcome to Meghan Grace DIY! I have been sewing since I was 8 years old and have done lots of great things in the sewing world from making figure skating costumes to teaching high school fashion to freelance costume design to college fashion professor. This video is a tutorial on how to properly take mens body measurements for any purpose. Before we get started I think it is important to note that there are many different styles and techniques in the sewing world, so take with you what works and leave behind what doesn’t! If you need to measure another person who does not reside in your household, please wear a mask!

Idk how to TH-cam it, but how do you apply the measurements after you take them. When it’s time to sew. I’m trying to tailor an old jersey for my dog.
What part of the knee do you stop at for the measurement (nape to knee)?
I need to know if you have a video explaining how to measure different size legs on one person. A few years ago my son got a blood clot that ran in all his vains in the bottom half of his left leg. His left leg is noticably wider than his right. How would I figure measurements for that?

Is there a reason that you measure over your index finger when you measure? Doesn't that throw off your measurement?
Would this also work for people looking to get measurements for a cosplay outfit ?
Yes! But if you are custom ordering from a specific place, I would check to see if there are additional measurements they would like you to take!

My wrist bone and my genitalia arent that close to each other. I find that a lot of my pants tend to be too short in crotch area. Its too tight & it looks like I'm trying too hard to show my junk. That's not the look I'm going for. Should I be measuring from my genitalia to the floor?

It happens! I would totally suggest Etsy for any kind of costume hats, those vendors usually have the best variety of sizes!
@@MeghanGraceDIY the last few years Etsy has been helpful. I do wish I had herd of Etsy years ago because I’ve had a 26in head since around the age of 12.
I feel like Etsy has gotten much better, there was a time period where there were a ton of cheap Chinese vendors on there but I think most of those vendors moved to amazon, making it easier to find the good quality items on Etsy.
If you don't remember you shoe size what is wrong with you? Your feet don't change in length over time
Your feet keep growing your entire life, luckily not at the same rate but still...
Also I don't consistently have the same size, it can differ one or two sizes depending on brand and/or type of shoe.

HahHha my bf is the epitome of “standard size man” 6 foot, 42 chest, 32 by 32 pants. I always remind him he’s lucky he really doesn’t need alterations as off the rack stuff fits him perfectly!
Hip measurement directions are all over the place....either up high towards your waist (above belt line!), at your actual hip bones or at the butt/widest part of the seat. It's frustrating...
