    I appreciate you lugging these around for the review and sound demos. They're not only massive buy heavy. The gloss finish doesn't help I'm sure. You're quickly becoming one of the most trusted reviewers in this space. Cheers

    My LCR's are 1723 S Towers & 1723 Center. Way more money than I've ever spent for speakers, but after having them for about 4 months, I think it was worth it. They are amazing. Video on my page if anybody wants to see them in a regular room. I went with the gloss white. I think it looks great. If you're trying to decide between the regular 1723 Tower or Tower S, I went with the Tower S because the Arendal rep told me the larger 1523's would be overkill for my 14' x 22' living room. The key difference IMHO is the sensitivity. The Tower S are 89db, while the bigger size are 92db which would require less power to drive them. I have a Marantz Cinema 50, and it powers the 1723 S Towers just fine even when playing very loud in 5.2.4 HT mode. I've gone back and forth about getting an external amp. After doing a lot or research, I don't think it really makes a difference at all, other than the dent in your wallet.

    Got my 1723 THX Towers 6 mths ago, and they sound amazing! Paired with my Denon A110, I am so impressed by the sound, both in stereo and watching movies in 5.1.2. Highly recommend these speakers, they are exceptionally good!

    I was revisiting your Nearfield Sub video of 3yrs ago and watching this it's instantly clear how far your comfort presenting and the production of your content has improved. I appreciate that you produce content without the shouting and fake theatrical hype that some (lol maybe a lot) or what I call the "YT voice cadence" creators put on. It makes you easy to listen to and not fatiguing. Thank you for that!

    I've had mine for 6 months and love them. Big improvement over the Klipsch RP-280F's they replaced. Build quality is above reproach. Sound is amazing. Bi-amp them with plenty of power. I just got an Integra DRX-8.4 and it does great.

      @@royalway12 I haven't heard the RP8000 but even if they're a significant improvement from the RP280F, there's still no way they're in the same league as the Arendals. The Arendals have vastly better cabinets, crossovers, and drivers. And they are THX Ultra certified.

    Coming from KEF R series. The KEF was too clinical and bright IN MY ROOM. (No haters please. I am a big fan of KEF - likely a room and matching with my equipment issue). 1723’s sound much more neutral. Bordering on warm with my parasound preamp and wyred4sound amp. I'm buying a pair of these in about a week-ish. I was 100% sold on the Polk Reserve series & built my entire system under the assumption that I was going to be running Polk Reserve R700 mains & other Reserve series speakers in a 5.2.2 home theater setup.
    ....and then I realized I don't really even want a home theater setup.
    ....and then I stumbled across Arendal & the gorgeous 1723 lineup.
    so now I have a whole rack full of Marantz stuff that I no longer want, because I'm not doing home theater AND I need power at 4 ohms.
    I bought an MM8003 & FIVE MA500Us for hell's sake. smfh.....all useless to me now...

      @@SpecOfTech I'll use your links, man.
      ....and the reason I decided to ditch the home theater angle altogether was/is the Arendals. ...and expense.
      I have purchased a whole rack full of Marantz components (amps, too)....and it's not "recommended" to use them @ 4 ohms.
      ...and I like the Arendals enough that I'm willing to buy another amp just for them.
      ...but I don't like them enough to buy a full 5.2.2 from them AND amplification to power it. I simply can't afford to put that type of $$$ into this.
      Basically, I bought amplifiers for Polk Reserve series speakers...and then I discovered Arendal and now the R700s might as well not exist to me.
      wanna buy some really clean Marantz amplification? lol
      I kicked around the idea of buying the last gen Kef R11s & building a surround w/ those as well, but nothing is going to do now but the Arendal 1723 THX. Not even the S series Arendals. I want the big boys or nuthin'.

      Thank you for the Super Thanks my friend. Sorry, I am on a 15 hour road trip right now and I am the driver so I don't have a lot of time for a detailed response right now. Feel free to email me at specoftech@gmail.com and we can discuss in detail when I finally get home. The 1723's and 120H's are dufferent sounding speakers. The 120H have a warmth to them, which makes them so easy to listen to for music, but they are also fantastic for movies. The 1723's are closer to neutral and can get really loud and remain composed. The 1723 would be a little more suitable for HT and the 120H are a little more suitable for music, but each speaker do both HT and music very well. My personal choice would be the 120H, the bass on them is out of this world for a tower and they are the "prettier" speaker.

    I know it may be difficult to remember, but how would you say those Arendal 1723 compares to SVS Ultra or specifically Prime Pinnacles? I have my eye set on the rectangular-shaped speakers and I know Prime Pinnacles are rated down to 29HZ. But I'm sure it's all subjective. Would you say I am missing out on a lot more with the Arendals? The Arendals have always caught my eye but they are massive for my 11.5 x 23' space and cost even more. Plus the center channel wouldn't fit inside any AV cabinet and I have to stand an 85-inch tv on the cabinet because I have a window on the wall behind it so I can't mount it. Thx

    • @synth505
      @synth505 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Personally I would go for the prime pinnacles if size is a consideration. Give them 200 to 250w of clean power and they'll sing. Plus, their a more neutral sounding speaker. I personally don't like bright sounding speakers.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, the 1723's are the better speakers in pretty much every way. I was not that impressed by the Pinnacles to be honest. I did like the SVS Ultras, but the 1723's are noticeably better IMO. The Arendal's are close to neutral sounding, and are the better all around speaker than the SVS. They can also get very loud with low distortion, which of course has it's benefits for those that like it loud, but it also makes for good clean dynamics. All that being said, it's all about compromise. You have to buy what works for you and your space.

    Very impressive speaker specs.
    But my vintage KEF 105/3 Reference is rated at 93 db 1 meter sensitivity into a 4 ohm load, with a 300 watt peak capability. Equaling 115 db output!
    They listed new for $3500.
    I'd say that meets a THX Ultra rating?
    Granted, the 105/3 are bigger. 44×11×16 at 92 lbs.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The THX Ultra spec isn't solely about output levels, it's about output levels while remaining under a certain distortion threshold.

    • @jamiesmith6838
      @jamiesmith6838 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpecOfTech Of course.
      Vintage Cerwin Vega loud speakers ran their ad campaign on this very thing! Loud & Clear!
      THX Ultra is an advertising standard that only certain High-End loud speakers have recently adopted. Tektonic comes to mind.
      Remember the downsizing trend of petite little speakers on stands? They use to call them mini monitors, or Nearfield monitors. (Yamaha iconic NS10) Incapable of distortion free high level output. But, they weren't for that. Physics made it so. They were mostly for chamber music..not double bass or Tom tom reproduction. Too many missing full bass harmonics to be convincing from a puny 5 or 6 inch woofer in a 12 inch box. Yes, they are faster than 10 & 12 inch woofers in their ideal frequencies. But shuddering bass is totally dependant on cabinet size & tuning. Which the KEF 105/3 managed to achieve with mathematics & two 6" dipole internal woofers in a ported manageable sized cabinet. 115 db sound pressure with minimal distortion was achieved decades ago!
      I am enjoying this revitalization to full range loud speakers! It's over due. Kudos to Arendale & Tektonic, & others for their affordable low distortion bass "restoration" products!

      They have such a different sound. If a person prefers a warmer sounding speaker then the Founder is the better speaker, if you want a more neutral speaker then Arendal provides a more neutral sound. The bass on the 120H speakers is out of this world, it pretty much beats any speaker under 20K IMO. The Founders have an even better build quality and aesthetic as well. To put it simply, if your system is for music choose the Founders, if it's for home theater and tonal accuracy is your goal, then go with Arendal.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not heard the Cornwalls in my space, so I can only venture a guess. Of course it would also come down to personal preference, so keep that in mind. I would guess that there would be more people who would prefer the Cornwall for music. For a few reasons, the first being it is a 3 way speaker and the 1723's are a 2.5 way. Secondly, they have a waveguide for the tweeter and midrange, which I imagine makes them sound more like a live performance with fantastic imaging. Lastly, the Cornwalls are really designed with music reproduction in mind. The Klipsch Heritage speakers are not targeting the home theater market.
      The Arendal speakers are targeting the home theater market with their THX Ultra certification, but that doesn't make them bad for music by any means. The Arendals are probably the better "all arounder" between the 2 choices, because I feel the Cornwalls would be a bit too forward for HT use. Keep in mind, I am generalizing with that comment based on their design.
