    I worked on a dairy farm, it opened my eyes, its true the cow bellowing and crying for hours , trying to break the gates down to get to their baby. When I told people about it they had no idea that's how we get cows milk.
    Most people don't know this.
    Thanks for your message.

      The farmers say that the mother cow can sit or step on the calf therefore one of the reasons the calf’s are taken away. Is there any truth to this?

    • @edithtierce8209
      @edithtierce8209 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@11trickyrickNo it is so the calf doesn’t drink all of the milk… BUT not all dairy farms are like this though it is mostly how all of the largest producers are… My family has owned a dairy for generations in Minnesota and they do not run their dairy in the way you described. It eats into profits if you are trying to produce for big corporations who are corrupt and generally put unreasonable demands on farmers. They also demand way too many things are done in the name of “health” of the milk. It’s all disgusting tbh. If a person is buying from a smaller dairy… This is not what is going on. No cows are screaming and crying in agony at my family’s dairy…

Who’s your next guest I hope they are close by. You work so well in a short time frame. Can’t wait for the hot button topics. I LOVED how you included the question about raw dairy. It would be so cool if on the forum or on insta we could ask two or three questions from your audience if you ever need ideas! One I’m always curious about is soy. :) your mom’s question and his answer made me tear up a little this guy is a big cuddly bear

    I love this guy and his message, and yes - the place to do the most good is with Med students right from the jump. The number of docs who are unwilling to look for something better than sentencing their patients to a foreshortened lifespan filled with Big Pharma backing is truly sickening. I am encouraged that vegetarianism has gone mainstream over the past 20 years, but it's not enough and it's not happening fast enough.

    I wish people would look into regenerative farming. It includes raising animals of course, but in a more natural way, aswell as crop rotation and planting crops that suck the carbon dioxide out of the air.
    It's a win win, helps the top soil, better for the planet, and keeps people fed.
    I also really wish people would address that there aren't any cultures that are 100% vegan. Our ancestors evolved to eat meat, although I would agree not nearly the quantities that the average American eats now. Even blue zones eat animal products, more fish and eggs rather than red meat.
    In my opinion based on research, going completely vegan isn't the answer, but I can definitely find common ground that we eat WAY to many animal products and we should be eating WAY more plant based foods.

    I would be so interested to see an episode about "ex-vegans" at some point...like, what are some of the most common pitfalls that people seem to experience on a plant based lifestyle, and tips to avoid falling into those issues! I commonly hear people cite gut issues and bioavailability of various nutrients as reasons for shying away from plant based eating. I think it would be great to hear your perspective on this since you have maintained a vegan lifestyle successfully for so long, whereas many others have fallen away especially in recent years.

    I strongly agree with everything he's saying, I've been vegan almost 5 years but I recently got my permaculture design cert and I can't help but notice how animals are tied into the health of the land. They're part of the cycle, their manure and other processes help grow healthy crops. Should they just be kept as farm pets? For manure production? What do you do with all the eggs if anyone else keeps chickens as composters?

    My MIL is on high blood pressure meds, has had two strokes and is obese and using a wheelchair because of her obesity and knows it’s her diet but absolutely won’t even consider a change. She tries to get us to order her cookies, candy bars in bulk etc. She is in a nursing home because she kept falling. We’ve tried to be compassionate but I don’t understand why she doesn’t care. She is only 63. So, I think Dr’s know that there are people who will refuse to change their diet even when truly uncomfortable, very ill and one foot in the grave. I don’t get understand it and it’s very sad but you can’t force change and that’s when a Dr has to give pills instead.

    I honestly think vegans need to sit up and listen to Drs like him because sadly, the omnivores are waiting on the sidelines to see if our health fails JUST SO they can blame anything, anything that may go wrong health wise on the plant based diet. Its pathetic they fo this I know, but regardless, don't give them the opportunity to try.

  • @dellah7507
    @dellah7507 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I loved the interview but I have to say that I don’t agree with the grass fed cows. They are not worse for the environment … well, it depends on where and how you keep them. Kept well they can help the farmer to have good soil and which will help to REDUCE CO2. It’s like in the wild in nature. Horses, elephants, cows,buffaloes and other animals help the environment.
    There is a great movie on Netflix: kiss the ground. Pls watch it.
    I’m still of the opinion that we shouldn’t eat them and Especially breed more than nature would actually let them! But saying cows that are “free” are bad for the environment is wrong.
    What and how we act as humans and how and what we consume is the problem. Now the cow or the chicken.
    If I had a farm I would also keep rescued cows… I would not kill them though. But they would be good for helping on the farm to keep everything in balance, just like ducks and other animals.

    • @dellah7507
      @dellah7507 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And I have to add that grass fed cows fart less 😜
      I’m seriously not trying to say that eating grass fed cows is good. No. Please stop killing animals. I’m just saying that free range grass fed can even help the environment if done right.
