One of the best episodes/demos so far. I'll be re-watching this one often. Love Jesus's clear and informative explanations of the moves. Once Bruce was free from Wing Chun, changed lots of things to improve them, Chi Sao was one of them. 40 years ago tonight was my 1st Karate lesson, and tomorrow 6 years ago was my last seminar with Sigung Richard Bustillo. I was honoured to be his demo partner for a couple of moves, and my Wife and I joined him and the others for dinner after. It was a wonderful and memorable evening. But took 34 years to get that far. Really enjoyed the show.

Would love to see. I met him at the Bruce and Brandon Lee memorial banquets Linda held in 90’s. Wonderful Man!
@@CharlesDamianoBLC No video unfortunately but I do have a couple of photos kindly sent by Guru Lee Banda who hosted the seminar. He was one of the loveliest people I have met. He always took time at the end of a seminar to talk to everyone. I used to always take him a gift. Like a bottle of Becks lager or pair of nunchuks. I still have a pair I made to match his Kali sticks, but never go to give him. Like Jesus, he had a special way of explaining things that I could easily understand.

Good idea to have Tony do the 1" punch at his place. Then any damage caused by bodies flying backwards of his own fault. Got worried a couple of times during the Chi Sao demo as Charles got a bit close to the cabinets.

No one can do it better than Bruce Lee! Bruce was a genius with Martial arts! His speed was beyond human speed , his power was NOT fake!

@@CharlesDamianoBLC your welcome! For a long time I thought martial arts was a mystery. Bruce Lee brought a new light after his lectures it opened up new doors ! Now I know what he was saying.. Chi Sao does work against average figher I tested it to be true. Against an MMA figher it is a different story UNLESS you're someone like Donnie Yen, Jackie Chan or jet li, Danny Chan . They're so well trained! Hope you come out with new series! Maybe we LL meet one day.. I am qualified to train those interested.. best to all of you !

@@CharlesDamianoBLC I am a native of America. For now at the West coast. .and what about you? I worked out with 3 different systems.. TKD Korean systems mainly like to kick . In a street fight it takes more than that! Bruce Lee did not believe in tournaments . He was a realistic Street Fighter. See his demos : he would demo ALL out with full gear! Don't get me wrong.. someone like Chuck Norris, Bill Superfoot Wallace, Joe Lewis knew how to do it all in and out of tournaments! They are just the FEW ! A good street fighter or master JUDO guy or like Gene Labell knew how to handle against TKD kickers.. there are even SOME who never took lessons in their life! They are just BORN into street DEFENCES! Bruce Lee really did NOT need to learn anything because he was BORN with BULLET speed and could pick out ANY target and down a challenger would go.. close associates would say, as I recall Ted Wong said Bruce Lee could take down any one with in two ATTACKS! Hi Charles great video on mr Santiago also Charles i was watching good morning sunday show on CBS they showed a segment on a new museum in Los Angeles about memorabilia on different stars and movie history and real quick they showed a large bruce Lee display posters a large lighted bruce poster of Etd and a huge glass case of what it looked to be bruce Lee's brown suit he wore in Etd and some stuff but couldn't see what it was it was to fast what they showed but it looked awesome.

@@CharlesDamianoBLC I study under Samuel Kwok. So it's coming right from Ip man. Like yourself. Not been able to do it as much over last couple of years due to covid. Wooden dummy has helped. Hopefully get back In to it properly soon. Thats why watching videos again. You have trained under alot of good Sifus!

If you want to train the best WC Sistem, only training from Duncan Leung's Applied Wing Chun.
Bruce did chi sao up until 1969 when he rejected wing chun, according to his personal training schedule that from 1965-70 he incorporated boxing and weight training, he stopped practicing the first wing chun form by 1968 and by 1970 no wing chun or anything related. Instead he did boxing, weight training and street effective techniques. In 1969 he told William Cheung: "I have lost faith in the Chinese classical arts… my line of training is more toward efficient street fighting with everything goes… I’ve named my style jeet kune do, reason for my not sticking to Wing Chun is because I sincerely feel that this style has more to offer regarding efficiency."

@@CharlesDamianoBLC Thank you for your kind words, I try to find information on the later development of jkd that appears to be overlooked for some reason. I have also came across an obscure interview by Dan Inosanto in 1970 with karate illustrated about jkd. Throughout not once is wing chun mentioned or shown, instead shows a narrow fencing like stance and boxing techniques. Chin, when Bruce returned to Hong Kong in 1964, he asked Ip Mani if he could film Chi Sao between then but Ip refused. They did pose for some professional photos however.

By "hitting the other person" you are NOT defeating the purpose of the drill.. The purpose IS to add everything into the drill...but not all at once.. lol A punch is 100% correct to do in ChiSao... The only caveat is that you must FaanSao... Almost all techniques in the system can be done in ChiSao and ARE valid, a punch being one of the most important...
