The UN is very slow and incapable to take appropriate policy and effort against the military junta of Myanmar. UN should do more to stop Myanmar's Army before it is too late. Many countries have business relation with Myanmar's Army led industries. So they will remain silent now. In other word they are supporting the military junta. UN should impose prohibition against those businesses too. Where China has taken a side for the military for their interest, the other world is doing nothing effectively. If we like democracy, then the democratic world should do more now, not tomorrow. I wish the people will win this time.

ASEAN is 'toothless' because of the strict adherence for "non-interference policy". But if they make up their mind on this particular issue and decides to have stronger stance against the coup then it will be a good day for Myanmar people, but it might also spawn problems in the future for the rest of the region unless the organization can clearly define when to "interfere" or not.

In Myanmar, the military has always been an independent powerful institution since 1962 coup. For decades, they have acquired the culture of taking control of the country’s resources and acting for their own interest. As a special interest group, they take care of themselves and their families first, while annihilating everything/everyone that doesn’t go their way including waging wars with all ethnic people and civilians including Rohingya people. In the past, suppression of all kinds was easy because the world was never connected like nowadays, so international community just did not know their heinous crimes. Like domestic violence, once it has happened for once, it is relatively easy to happen again. Thus, February coup was just to preserve their special privilege, as they hold the weapons and have never been under the civilian administration.
Decades of their rule under various themes and slogans showed that the Myanmar military is just a bully that is not only incapable, unpatriotic, self-serving, but also ruthless, corrupt, and unremorseful. Myanmar people have really been sick of them, but they are powerless. This is one of the reasons why NLD is so popular. Thanks for your understanding and we really look forward to your help with hope. Power in the hands of wrong people have disastrous consequences for the humanity.
P.S. The military is also responsible for 2017 Rohingya crisis. After all, they hold arms and were capable of acting independently.
