I can’t tell if the Zombine’s augmented brain makes it so it instinctually makes these callouts or if they’re slightly more resistant to the headcrab’s influence that they’re able to warn or still fulfill their duties at least mentally.
What's heard at 0:43 isn't the radio, but a zombie gasp. All the dialogue is cut up, slowed, or interrupted by the uneven breaths of the headcrab controlling the body. Which varies from shaky breaths, gasps, raspy exhales, snarls, and other wet throaty sounds.
The fallen combine soldiers are trained even after they got a headcrab on their head that's why they hold up their grenade to kill themself so they cannot feel any more pain
So, when the combines get infected by a headcrab, they still use their lungs to talk via the radio. The combines actually resemble a bit of consciousness.
Zombines have more control over their body from the protective gas mask on their skull. This explains how they have the ability to take out a Grenade because they’re trying to end themselves. Also they can talk full sentences. It takes longer for the head crab to break down the helmet meaning they can control their body
These are one of my favorite zombie soldiers of all time. The 2 things we hate the most merged into one. also they are the only balanced zombie in the game. not too hard or easy
Zombines have the most control when being influenced by a headcrab. They can even pull out their grenades to kill Gordon and themselves as a “last mission”
While it may seem sad... the reason the Combine can speak so 'clearly' into the broken radio is because of interior cybernetic machinery. That same machinery has rendered whatever human race of the soldier obsolete and wiped. What remains is just a human shell controlled by machinery. So while the body remains alive, it's not really conscious as far as I know with combine lore.
A thing about combine soldiers. Their memories are replaced with combat data. So that's probably from where headcrab might be pulling combine call-outs.
Since zombines say "necrotics inbound" when they see you means they think you're a zombie. also when the pull out a grenade the say "bouncer" so they alert themselves about their own grenade. Also 1:41 *t* *a* *r* *g*
Combine Soldiers have vocoders instead of vocal cords. As far as I remember, they have to think or something to speak. So speaking isn't all that hard.
Combine can't feel fear or caution, the surgerys altered them mentally and physically but they still feel pain and other emotions, which explains why the zombines pull out a grenade so they can end the pain as fast as possible because the headcrab dosent control it's entire victim, during the transformation the victim is conscious and fully aware of whats happening.
@@Anon-mu8re i dont really know how a creature from a really far planet or dimension is relatable with a completely different body and how its able to control our muscles by just humping our heads and waiting there for 2 hours
I do love that they used sounds from the actual Overwatch soldiers to create the Zombine sounds. Valve either does it all the way or not at all (Except Half Life Source. We don't talk about Half Life Source.)
Imagine just chillin', enforcing the combine law. Then suddenly, through your radio one of your fellow squad members groans and speaks distortedly. You know he cannot be saved, yet you have to listen to his warnings and moans. Dark, isn't it.
RE: the "Move" line, I believe the line remixed is oddly a Metrocop line, not a Soldier line. RE: the "Restrictors" line is actually misinterpreted, as it actually says "extractor"
The kind of disturbing thing about this is at the end of the zombine idles you can hear the radio beep which means the other combines which are not infected hear the voices of fallen combines warning them about headcrabs
Imagine you are the last combine alive in ravenholm, you start to hear your body's slowly talking in a distorted voice, You don't know the location or where it's coming from, but it is like it knows where you are.
the fact some of these lines are being broadcasted over radio makes me want a game where you play as a team of combines trying to clear a headcrab infested area, and when a teammate dies and gets taken over these sounds play over the radio every so often, imagine how horrofying it'd be "hey man just cleared the warehouse, how's it looking over there" *silence* "you good man?" and then garbled screaming pours out of the radio
Just imagine being a grunt and then noticing your commanding officer has disappeared, only to hear him on the radio like this. Since grunts still have a sense of humanity just imagine how they would react.
The fact that the Zombine is still desperately trying to warn Overwatch about an infestation shows how brainwashed and dedicated they are to the Combine...
i would like to think of this as most combine soldiers have been modified to such an extend that even the headcrabs do not have total control over them
Animation maker Mccarty But if you just shoot off the headcrab, they will also be headless with only their lower jaw attached to the body. Which means any attempt at removing the headcrab will instantly result in the host getting beheaded
They're committing suicide. The amount of pain those Zombines are in are so excruciatingly painful that they'd rather blow themselves up than continue living. Shits sucks, man.
Stanciu Sebastian problem with "they suicide to kill you" is that they are parasites , they need a alive body to leach onto , or not a blown up one , so why would they sacrifice themselves to turn a possible host into a pile of ripped apart meat and kill other headcrabs in the process? Headcrab wanting to suicide is unlikely so it is probably soldiers just pulling out a grenade as soon as the headcrab gets distracted by the player to end their own suffering*
Just imagine: You're a combine soldier with his squad on a mission to find the missing teams then one of the radios turn on and you hear "Sector is....not secure" you question the situation and again, the radio boots up "necrotics nearby..." You are terrified, you continue but your guard is up all the time, next thing you hear " Biotic overrun" very close to your location and then they charge you, grenades in hand screaming. You open fire but there are too many, headcrabs start taking your teammates one by one and you're the only one left, you run but you can hear the radio booting up behind you. Terrifying thought, eh?
I can't really empathize with them, they're heavily modified humans with yes, still SOME emotion, only some, but not much, but there is evidence for some emotion in them.
God zombine are really messed up not only did you give up nearly all of your humanity and mind to be this mindless soldier, but now you’ve been taken over by this alien parasite. The HL universe is wild
Two small corrections: One of the pain sounds had the soldiers saying “Medical-“, which was used from “Request Medical” The first grenade line was “Extractors…”, I believe that the line originated from “Ready Extractors”.
*on the radio* Combine: Is anyone still alive? *a minute passes, confirming him the worst.* *then suddenly he hears the radio go off, in a weird, but, familiar voice* Zombine:Sector.... isn't secure.
I actually find this quite interesting, as its known, Default Headcrab Zombies are still very much alive, and this logic properly applies to the Zombine. Some are probably questioning why the *Former* Zombine is headless when killed. Possible reasoning behind this is, as the Combine Soldiers themselves are pretty much Synthetic Humanoids at this point, and its known that Combine helmets are surgically attached to their heads, excluding Civil Protection, as they're still pretty much human, as what we see from Barney, as he can remove his helmet mask. Regarding this fact, its possibly safe to assume that the Headcrab has to attach itself to the Combine's helmet then penetrate that, then the skull, thus when the headcrab is removed, it takes the whole head, aside from the lower jaw. This logic doesnt apply to the default zombie, as the host has no helmet, thus the beak of the headcrab can directly puncture the skull. We can assume this logic for the Zombine would apply to the Elite as well, if there was an Elite variant of the Zombine, which can probably be said for a Zombie Metrocop as well.
They're almost trying to warn their own or their situation. What makes it worse is that it's probably being communicated over their radio, too.

I'd rather die than being controlled by a headcrab
The reason they have vocoders instead is because the combine wanted the soldiers to communicate even if there lunges are entirely gone...kinda dark
If you reverse the zombie pain sound while burning its says"help god help"
Literally everyone knows.
Great job,columbus
Yeah every one knows..that was stupid comment
We know.
Combine: Do you copy?
Zombine: Sector is... not secure...
Combine: .....*dies of fear*
Edit: How this many likes wtf xd
Combine can't feel fear or caution, the surgerys altered them mentally and physically but they still feel pain and other emotions, which explains why the zombines pull out a grenade so they can end the pain as fast as possible because the headcrab dosent control it's entire victim, during the transformation the victim is conscious and fully aware of whats happening.
Thats actually not a stupid comment

1:25 "Biotic *grotesque burping noise* overrun"
The kind of disturbing thing about this is at the end of the zombine idles you can hear the radio beep which means the other combines which are not infected hear the voices of fallen combines warning them about headcrabs
Imagine you are the last combine alive in ravenholm, you start to hear your body's slowly talking in a distorted voice, You don't know the location or where it's coming from, but it is like it knows where you are.
Hello Zombine! I used to be a combine! .....oh!
the fact some of these lines are being broadcasted over radio makes me want a game where you play as a team of combines trying to clear a headcrab infested area, and when a teammate dies and gets taken over these sounds play over the radio every so often, imagine how horrofying it'd be
"hey man just cleared the warehouse, how's it looking over there"
*silence*
"you good man?"
and then garbled screaming pours out of the radio
rip Combine :'(
Just imagine being a grunt and then noticing your commanding officer has disappeared, only to hear him on the radio like this. Since grunts still have a sense of humanity just imagine how they would react.
1:09 Dat radio
Its broke you idiot
Felix Hightower it kinda freaks me out
0:14 so that's where the Pinky Demon sound came from
The zombie are one of the most sad creatures in the entirety of half-life as they still seem to be alive, just not in control
1:10 I like the sound of the radio
Me walking towards the kitchen at 2 AM and i hear my mom eating something 1:20
The fact that the Zombine is still desperately trying to warn Overwatch about an infestation shows how brainwashed and dedicated they are to the Combine...
2:15 the time that soldier trying to move but he cant because of headcrab stuck on his head until the infestation
Shhhhhiiiittttttt!!!
i would like to think of this as most combine soldiers have been modified to such an extend that even the headcrabs do not have total control over them
The real reason why zombines don't have heads is because they attack you by holding up a grenade upon their head which explodes the head off.
Shits sucks, man.
mycatisafascist Well thats not the case because they do it when youre around.
Stanciu Sebastian Maybe it's just a coincidence? Who knows, they're headcrabs.
Last man Combine soldier: ...
Zombine: Bouunceeerrr......
Combine soldier : *IM FAST AS FAK BOIII...
Just imagine:
You're a combine soldier with his squad on a mission to find the missing teams
then one of the radios turn on and you hear "Sector is....not secure" you question the situation and again, the radio boots up "necrotics nearby..."
You are terrified, you continue but your guard is up all the time, next thing you hear " Biotic overrun" very close to your location and then they charge you, grenades in hand screaming.
You open fire but there are too many, headcrabs start taking your teammates one by one and you're the only one left, you run but you can hear the radio booting up behind you.
Terrifying thought, eh?
i bet theres gonna be one of these comments in your comment that says "cOmBiNe dOnT hAvE eMoTiOn"

I can't really empathize with them, they're heavily modified humans with yes, still SOME emotion, only some, but not much, but there is evidence for some emotion in them.
honestly its like their trying to warn off any backup or inbound help so they don't make the same mistake of being caught its almostheartwarming
2:16 is just low pitched version of Tyler1 making car sounds
2:14 is the Zombine shouting SHIIIIIT!! This would usually be used when they are holding a granade but cannot throw it.
He's angry that he can't throw the granade. I would be mad too.

Two small corrections:
One of the pain sounds had the soldiers saying “Medical-“, which was used from “Request Medical”
The first grenade line was “Extractors…”, I believe that the line originated from “Ready Extractors”.
Zombie soldier: "yeah i think we have a zombie problem"
Its a zombine
Even as infected they still try and do there job, outstanding commitment.
