Sir, I have some questions.
Presence of synergid is understandable because of the presence of filli form apparatus and its significance in it.
And later on it degenerates... Okay i get that... Because the male gametes were successfully get fused where it meant to be...
So synergid degeneration is accepted...
But why the antipodals gets degenerated....?
And what is the importance of presence of antipodals ?
Is this just to accommodate the no. Of nucelies formed after div. ?
I mean angiosperms shows very complexity even in accepting a foreign pollen or what pollen the stigma wants to get fertile that much amount of efforts were placed....
And presence of something inside an ovary must have some imp. Functions though....

Antipodals are nutritive in nature and provide nutrition to the the embryo sac. They also provide nutrition during embryo development and endosperm formation. They are rich in lipid content.
