My question is simple: Where were these heros when the Mughals and English invaded India? When Hindus were being butchered if they didn't convert to Islam, where were Ram, Krishna..? It's convenient to refer to events that may or may not had happened 5000-7000 years, and who's epic battles was not recordded physically, which the brahmins recited verbally. The flag situated on the 45-storey peak of Lord Jagannath temple is changed daily, it is believed that if the flag is not changed even for a day, the temple will be closed for 18 years. Similarly, there is also a Sudarshan Chakra on the top of Lord Jagannath Temple, which, when viewed from every direction, faces towards you. In the kitchen of Lord Jagannath temple, 7 earthen pots are placed on top of each other to cook the prasad, which is cooked by a wood fire, during which the dish of the pot placed on the top is cooked first. The Prasad made every day in Lord Jagannath temple never diminishes for the devotees, but the surprising thing is that as soon as the doors of the temple are closed, the prasad also ends. All these are surprising.

Yesterday I was inside the temple, got the privilege to meet lord Jagannath. If you stand for few minutes and contiguously watch the lord you'll feel a different yet positive vibe. It stays with you for long.

I'm from Odisha, and I agreed from the details that you mentioned. Jagannath temple is all about mystery. Like 1) A natural No fly zone 2) Mystery of cooking pots. 3) Flag Floats to the opposite direction of wind. 4) The quantity of cooked food inside the temple remains same the entire year. And the same prasadam can feed whatever be the number of devotees - a few thousand people or 20 lakh people. It never gets wasted. 5)On entering from Singhadwara, as one takes the first step inside the Temple, you can’t hear any sound produced by the ocean. But when you cross the same step outside the Temple, you can hear it. 6)Normally during day-time, the wind blows from the sea to the land and in the evening, the opposite happens. I am only 22 , but i have been to Jagannath temple 19 times . There’s a different aura in that place, some pandas are ridiculous and only ask for money, even snatch money if possible, but once you reach inside and get shri jagannath ,balabhadra and subhadra dharshan , you lose your perception of time, time runs slower inside griha garbha, so much calmness midst that much chaos by lakhs of bhakts. Coming from Odisha, the state which boasts of the city of Puri and this divine temple, I have witnessed this "heart Transplantation" along with my dad and paternal grandparents in the year 1996. Typically called NABAKALEBARA, this old body to new body transplantation happens every 12 or 19 years, based on the interesting reading of lunar calendars , wherein the year which will have two full moons in the same month of ASHADHA. That is chosen as the Nabakalebara year and the main priest would automatically dream of the site and the holy tree (DARU BRAHMA) which would then be cut and prepared for the new idol formation. One of the most marvellous and ancient scientific advancements I would say, it defeats me every time I see its magnificence and uncanny rituals that surround the process. Switching off the power grid for the entire city for a specific duration at the peak time of pitch midnight darkness, blindfolding of the presiding priests, the temple being fully evacuated, etc. are just few of the many secretive things that happen inside the temple during that time. I m so blessed that in my 30 years of life so far, I witnessed two times already (once in the town and once on TV live--though the transplantation time is full pitch darkness as they show outside part of the temple obviously!)--once in 1996 and the last one in 2015.

I am 77, I've been a student of history since I was a child, listening to my immigrant father tell the oral history of his village at 6000 feet in the mountains of Italy. 25 years later I would apply that history as I carved out a life without electricity in the British Columbia bush. Thanks to this background I succeeded far more easily than a modern person trying to live simply. If nothing else history teaches us what we must NOT do to avoid calamity: Most of the crises that threatened human populations in the past and even recently, are created by humans as we go about our daily lives thinking that we are impervious from all manner of circumstance. Just now in 2020 CE the simplest possible form of life, a virus, threatens to kill tens of millions, perhaps 100 million or more, before it has run its course. So our situation is that we have immensely sophisticated technologies and learning at our disposal, yet all of these did not prevent us from becoming stricken with the simplest of life-forms. Why is that? How could we go to the moon and back, but now be laid low by something that is barely alive? Yet we say that we can control atomic energy in such a way it will give us limitless energy to survive on planet Earth... Really? Yet we've not solved the problem of safe disposal of near eternal, immensely lethal waste! Technology allows us to create a problem which threatens to kill us, yet we believe another still future technology will allow us to solve the problem, although it was that approach which got us into this situation! Almost every civilisation that we call world class failed because their agriculture was unable to sustain enough of the population to continue its way of life. The past 100 years saw us create a monocultural and industrial approach to agriculture, now the signs are abundantly clear that it is near collapse, and fail us utterly. There will be VERY few who know how to restart this insanely synthetic approach to life and living! If we continue using synthetic fertiliser materials, then we'll have to first build incredibly complicated industries to have them available for our new age farmer to return to the madness. Meanwhile, those who continued to grow more modestly on smaller plots of ground, say 100 acres or less, will be able to carry on as they did. With animal manures, compost, plowing under of legumes, and crop rotation, small market gardeners will carry on. When I was a preteen in Chicago, I was fascinated by the Adler planetarium, which led me to the writings of Dr George Gamow, an English astrophysicist, who wrote about his science for the masses. Certain of his writing indelibly impressed itself on me, and formed my Outlook, which I'm now sharing with you. He proposed that our sense of time was terribly limited: we need to think of time in terms of 100,000 year blocks. I quite agree, and think to honour him we should call each of the blocks a Gamow. Archaeology now believes that humans organised as society as long ago as 400,000 years, or 4 Gamows. How much easier it is to say 4 Gamows than 400,000 years! I'd point out to you that what we proudly see as our great urban accomplishments and buildings are all products of the last 150 years; electricity and skyscrapers only began 100 years ago. That is, one tenth of 1% of a Gamow. The Empire State Building, soon to be 100 years old, may have to be replaced shortly thereafter. Now this has been a very long reply to the video, all I wanted to do was explore some of the ramifications which were stated and implied. We need to gain a larger perspective of our time and place in the cosmos. We mere mortals are subject to the whims of our fancies and fantasies. One of those of course is that we are superior to anything before us, and will surely last forever. In this we are exactly the same as the Romans after Augustus Caesar: they morphed from republic to the greatest Empire the world has ever seen, then or now. They went on to build in stone, so their roads and buildings would last indefinitely. They developed a special cement concrete using volcanic ash that's superior to any concrete we have. But Rome, as we are now, was subject to plagues, corrupt governments, and overly ambitious emperors who made many foolish mistakes. But again, we believe we learned from these and will not make the same errors. Microbes don't believe anything and certainly don't seem to be alive in the way we understand living. Yet the entire industrial world has ground to a halt because of what a virus has done, in less than 6 months! This happened to the later Roman Empire not once but twice, so 500 years after Augustus it came to an effective end and sank into what we now call the Dark Ages. It would be another 1500 years before the West recovered enough to have the same global trade that the Romans had achieved, from China to Spain and Britain. So go about your daily life as you always have, but take time to think about these things, and what's happening today worldwide, and let that be your guide. I wish Praveen could live hundreds of years to point out that all that we learnt from these ancient Hindu temples is a representation of high-tech future. I strongly believe that time is a loop and events keep repeating themselves. What we call technology today was common knowledge in ancient times and that gods were a highly advanced version of our own race.
The new movie on Netflix called The Old Giard has a line which they say that gods were humans of ancient times who achieved so much that people started praying them.

I am continually amazed by your videos, PraveenMohan. I am reminded that Lord Krishna, and eminations of Him Vishnu, is described as wearing the Kaustubha gem on his chest. There are also golden marks of Srivtsa on his chest, where godess Laxmi resides. I have never heard about the heart of Lord Krishna being kept within the gigantic wooden form of Lord Jagannatha, but the idea is intriguing. I have heard tell that Lord Jesus stayed at Jagannatha Puri Temple for some time. It's green in colour and was kept in a cage by a hunter for many years till Indradyumnan was directed by Krishna to move it to a temple. This image was carved by Vishwakarma. As they were coming, all these personalities variously chanted and glorified the birth and activities of Lord Shauri[Krishna]. O King, crowding the sky with their many airplanes, they showered down flowers with great devotion. Seeing before Him Brahmä, the grandfather of the universe, along with the other demigods, who are all His personal and powerful expansions, the Almighty Lord closed His lotus eyes, fixing His mind within Himself, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Without employing the mystic ägneyi meditation to burn up His transcendental body, which is the all-attractive resting place of all the worlds and the object of all contemplation and meditation, Lord Krishna entered into His own abode. My question is simple: Where were these heros when the Mughals and English invaded India? When Hindus were being butchered if they didn't convert to Islam, where were Ram, Krishna..? The written article came 1000s of years after the event. Personally my recollection of what I did exactly a week ago is questionable. You must have seen birds sitting and flying on the summit of most of the temples, but no bird passes over the Jagannath temple.
The flag always flies in the opposite direction of the wind
The main peak of Lord Jagannath Temple does not cast a shadow at any time of the day.
The flag situated on the 45-storey peak of Lord Jagannath temple is changed daily, it is believed that if the flag is not changed even for a day, the temple will be closed for 18 years.
Similarly, there is also a Sudarshan Chakra on the top of Lord Jagannath Temple, which, when viewed from every direction, faces towards you.
In the kitchen of Lord Jagannath temple, 7 earthen pots are placed on top of each other to cook the prasad, which is cooked by a wood fire, during which the dish of the pot placed on the top is cooked first.
The Prasad made every day in Lord Jagannath temple never diminishes for the devotees, but the surprising thing is that as soon as the doors of the temple are closed, the prasad also ends.

1) A natural No fly zone
2) Mystery of cooking pots.
3) Flag Floats to the opposite direction of wind.
4) The quantity of cooked food inside the temple remains same the entire year. And the same prasadam can feed whatever be the number of devotees - a few thousand people or 20 lakh people. It never gets wasted.
5)On entering from Singhadwara, as one takes the first step inside the Temple, you can’t hear any sound produced by the ocean. But when you cross the same step outside the Temple, you can hear it.
6)Normally during day-time, the wind blows from the sea to the land and in the evening, the opposite happens. But in Puri, the opposite happens.

I am only 22 , but i have been to Jagannath temple 19 times . There’s a different aura in that place, some pandas are ridiculous and only ask for money, even snatch money if possible, but once you reach inside and get shri jagannath ,balabhadra and subhadra dharshan , you lose your perception of time, time runs slower inside griha garbha, so much calmness midst that much chaos by lakhs of bhakts.

Coming from Odisha, the state which boasts of the city of Puri and this divine temple, I have witnessed this "heart Transplantation" along with my dad and paternal grandparents in the year 1996. Typically called NABAKALEBARA, this old body to new body transplantation happens every 12 or 19 years, based on the interesting reading of lunar calendars , wherein the year which will have two full moons in the same month of ASHADHA. That is chosen as the Nabakalebara year and the main priest would automatically dream of the site and the holy tree (DARU BRAHMA) which would then be cut and prepared for the new idol formation.
One of the most marvellous and ancient scientific advancements I would say, it defeats me every time I see its magnificence and uncanny rituals that surround the process.
Switching off the power grid for the entire city for a specific duration at the peak time of pitch midnight darkness, blindfolding of the presiding priests, the temple being fully evacuated, etc. are just few of the many secretive things that happen inside the temple during that time.
I m so blessed that in my 30 years of life so far, I witnessed two times already (once in the town and once on TV live--though the transplantation time is full pitch darkness as they show outside part of the temple obviously!)--once in 1996 and the last one in 2015.

I am 77, I've been a student of history since I was a child, listening to my immigrant father tell the oral history of his village at 6000 feet in the mountains of Italy. 25 years later I would apply that history as I carved out a life without electricity in the British Columbia bush. Thanks to this background I succeeded far more easily than a modern person trying to live simply.
If nothing else history teaches us what we must NOT do to avoid calamity: Most of the crises that threatened human populations in the past and even recently, are created by humans as we go about our daily lives thinking that we are impervious from all manner of circumstance. Just now in 2020 CE the simplest possible form of life, a virus, threatens to kill tens of millions, perhaps 100 million or more, before it has run its course.
So our situation is that we have immensely sophisticated technologies and learning at our disposal, yet all of these did not prevent us from becoming stricken with the simplest of life-forms. Why is that? How could we go to the moon and back, but now be laid low by something that is barely alive? Yet we say that we can control atomic energy in such a way it will give us limitless energy to survive on planet Earth... Really? Yet we've not solved the problem of safe disposal of near eternal, immensely lethal waste! Technology allows us to create a problem which threatens to kill us, yet we believe another still future technology will allow us to solve the problem, although it was that approach which got us into this situation!
Almost every civilisation that we call world class failed because their agriculture was unable to sustain enough of the population to continue its way of life. The past 100 years saw us create a monocultural and industrial approach to agriculture, now the signs are abundantly clear that it is near collapse, and fail us utterly. There will be VERY few who know how to restart this insanely synthetic approach to life and living!
If we continue using synthetic fertiliser materials, then we'll have to first build incredibly complicated industries to have them available for our new age farmer to return to the madness. Meanwhile, those who continued to grow more modestly on smaller plots of ground, say 100 acres or less, will be able to carry on as they did. With animal manures, compost, plowing under of legumes, and crop rotation, small market gardeners will carry on.
When I was a preteen in Chicago, I was fascinated by the Adler planetarium, which led me to the writings of Dr George Gamow, an English astrophysicist, who wrote about his science for the masses. Certain of his writing indelibly impressed itself on me, and formed my Outlook, which I'm now sharing with you. He proposed that our sense of time was terribly limited: we need to think of time in terms of 100,000 year blocks. I quite agree, and think to honour him we should call each of the blocks a Gamow.
Archaeology now believes that humans organised as society as long ago as 400,000 years, or 4 Gamows. How much easier it is to say 4 Gamows than 400,000 years! I'd point out to you that what we proudly see as our great urban accomplishments and buildings are all products of the last 150 years; electricity and skyscrapers only began 100 years ago. That is, one tenth of 1% of a Gamow. The Empire State Building, soon to be 100 years old, may have to be replaced shortly thereafter.
Now this has been a very long reply to the video, all I wanted to do was explore some of the ramifications which were stated and implied. We need to gain a larger perspective of our time and place in the cosmos.
We mere mortals are subject to the whims of our fancies and fantasies. One of those of course is that we are superior to anything before us, and will surely last forever. In this we are exactly the same as the Romans after Augustus Caesar: they morphed from republic to the greatest Empire the world has ever seen, then or now. They went on to build in stone, so their roads and buildings would last indefinitely. They developed a special cement concrete using volcanic ash that's superior to any concrete we have. But Rome, as we are now, was subject to plagues, corrupt governments, and overly ambitious emperors who made many foolish mistakes. But again, we believe we learned from these and will not make the same errors.
Microbes don't believe anything and certainly don't seem to be alive in the way we understand living. Yet the entire industrial world has ground to a halt because of what a virus has done, in less than 6 months! This happened to the later Roman Empire not once but twice, so 500 years after Augustus it came to an effective end and sank into what we now call the Dark Ages. It would be another 1500 years before the West recovered enough to have the same global trade that the Romans had achieved, from China to Spain and Britain.
So go about your daily life as you always have, but take time to think about these things, and what's happening today worldwide, and let that be your guide. Goodbye and good luck from beautiful British Columbia!

I wish Praveen could live hundreds of years to point out that all that we learnt from these ancient Hindu temples is a representation of high-tech future. I strongly believe that time is a loop and events keep repeating themselves. What we call technology today was common knowledge in ancient times and that gods were a highly advanced version of our own race.
The new movie on Netflix called The Old Giard has a line which they say that gods were humans of ancient times who achieved so much that people started praying them.

I was not believing in stories, but now I'm believing since many years of researching on Hindus scripters that it must be true. I have never heard about the heart of Lord Krishna being kept within the gigantic wooden form of Lord Jagannatha, but the idea is intriguing. I have heard tell that Lord Jesus stayed at Jagannatha Puri Temple for some time.

It's definitely an advanced technology. That heart is called Neel Madhav. It's green in colour and was kept in a cage by a hunter for many years till Indradyumnan was directed by Krishna to move it to a temple. This image was carved by Vishwakarma. I had been twice to this temple and there are many wonders that are against nature in this temple. Sarvam Krishnaarpanam. The secret is only known to him.

Shukadeva Gosvämi said: Then Lord Brahmä arrived at Prabhäsa along with Lord Shiva and his consort, the sages, the Prajäpatis and all the demigods, headed by Indra.
The forefathers, Siddhas, Gandharvas, Vidyädharas and great serpents also came, along with the Charanas, Yakshas, Rakshasas, Kinnaras, Apsaräs and relatives of Garuda, greatly eager to witness the departure of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As they were coming, all these personalities variously chanted and glorified the birth and activities of Lord Shauri[Krishna].
O King, crowding the sky with their many airplanes, they showered down flowers with great devotion.
Seeing before Him Brahmä, the grandfather of the universe, along with the other demigods, who are all His personal and powerful expansions, the Almighty Lord closed His lotus eyes, fixing His mind within Himself, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Without employing the mystic ägneyi meditation to burn up His transcendental body, which is the all-attractive resting place of all the worlds and the object of all contemplation and meditation, Lord Krishna entered into His own abode.
As soon as Lord Shri Krishna left the earth, Truth, Religion, Faithfulness, Glory and Beauty immediately followed Him. Kettledrums resounded in the heavens and flowers showered from the sky.
Most of the demigods and other higher beings led by Brahmä could not see Lord Krishna as He was entering His own abode, since He did not reveal His movements. But some of them did catch sight of Him, and they were extremely amazed.
