The character in question is an eta, and it is at the beginning of verse 36 in 1 Corinthians 14. It is listed as Strong's #2228, and I believe the relevant listing in Strong's is this: "before a sentence contrary to the one just preceding, to indicate that if one be denied or refuted the other must stand" Blessings to you all, in Jesus' name!
Often times when this verse is preached on, we are always taught to read it in it's context. However, as Kris does here, preachers often glance over the last few verses. Paul gives us the context of his preaching. He brings it back to the beginning of creation for the same reasoning Jesus brought it back to creation when asked if God permits divorce. They are revealing God's original purpose in his design of man and woman. Both equal and both with equal gifts, but different gifts.
Jesus Himself will be subjected to the Father (1Cor15:28). This in no way diminishes Jesus’ value and worth. Godly subjection doesn’t diminish value...it affirms it.
1 Timothy 2:12, in which Paul wrote, “ I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” In this passage Paul placed a limitation on the involvement of women in positions of authority in the church. Again, notice the context surrounding the passage. This limitation is set in contrast to the functions of men, which included praying in the preceding section (1 Timothy 2:8) and serving in leadership positions in the succeeding section (1 Timothy 3:1-13). Thus, the speaking at issue in this passage is that which is representative, such as in congregational prayer, which is implicitly forbidden by the juxtaposition with instructions for men to pray, and that which is authoritative, which is explicitly forbidden in 1 Timothy 2:12 and evident from the juxtaposition with the male-oriented roles of elders and deacons in the following chapter. Thus, Paul’s instruction for women not to “teach or exercise authority over a man” in 1 Timothy 2 is specifically placing limitations on the involvement of women in positions of congregational representation or authority.
Do you know how many other times that word brothers is used? So that means only men should not be unaware of the spiritual gifts, only men should not be children in their thinking, only men can desire earnestly to prophesy, and the grace of Jesus be only with the spirit of men. If anyone listens to false teachers in Bethel, they are just those who like their ears tickled. There is so much evidence, proof, and testimony of Bethel and their false doctrine, one does not have to research too hard to find it. Or for a good synopsis, just purchase the great book that came out in 2018 "Defining Deception" which is mostly focused on the practices of Bill Johnson and Bethel. We are not called to be peace makers and submissive to false doctrine, but are commanded by the word of God to call them out and depart from them. Also, Jesus did not come to bring peace to the world, if you know your scriptures. Rather, to divide it. Christ does not promote hostility and wants us to have peace, but the Gospel divides, and the true Bible believing remnant who have fundamental belief in the validity of the scriptures alone (and not on mystical and personal experiences of elitist wolves in sheep's clothing like Bill Johnson), will face persecution in these ends days, not peace. I guess you don't believe in the literal return of Jesus to set up His 1,000 year kingdom on earth as well? Exactly June, we are in the very end of the last days, and these false teachers (lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful in their special relationships with God, proud, and worse - having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof), need to be exposed, and anyhow worshiping their false doctrine needs to be warned. The same book you quote from is one of the books Paul wrote to Timothy about to warn of these false teachers, and those who will follow them - the scripture clearly talks of these silly women lead captive. Paul learned that certain men within the church were teaching false doctrines. Their probable position as leaders or elders in the church called for immediate action. Timothy was to command these individuals not only to stop teaching false doctrine but also to put an end to their speculative system of interpretation (= Bethel Church). False doctrines literally means "different doctrines" (compare 6:3), those that diverged from the accepted teaching of the Old Testament, Christ and the apostles (=Bethel church). The scriptures are clear we are to judge these false teachers and those who follow them. I don't have time or the space to teach the sermons you need to hear and don't live in USA. If you want to focus on only love, you have lost the battle already. Satan knows scripture better than any human does, we all now that. And uses false teachers on tap like those at Bethel: 2 COR 11: 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Obviously the angel at Jesus tomb was wrong to tell the women to go and tell...according to some of the comments here...the women were the first to speak the gospel.
Jenni, the women at the tomb passed on a message of the resurrection of our Lord, they never preached in a church setting to men which is not Biblical. Hope you can see the difference. You can't pick and choose scripture, either it is all correct or throw the entire lot out.

Obviously you do not read any bible fo if you did you would have read: Matthew 10:1-15 and Luke 10:1-16. Also, Jesus was the first along with John. So you see you are not taught to read the Bible at bethel. Read and think. Eat the flesh and spit out the bones.

I know Kris personally, and I think he is mostly right here, but most of the church at the time of 1 Corinthians were Jewish Christians and members of the diaspora, or at least a large plurality. So the "asking their husbands in church" scenario is actually still entirely plausible.

Incorrect theology. I believe it means wives should keep their peace in church to keep things orderly. In principle this could mean that people in the congregation should keep their peace too and any controversy should be sorted out in private later. Women are allowed to speak and teach and can be prophets. There's plenty of examples in scripture. We are all equal under God.
I am not really into the feminist gospel as a female, nor do I believe the church should be dominated by men. We are equal as people, but we submit and honor one another. I guess it is more a gut thing for me, in terms of when it feels appropriate to speak and when not to...in any situation. And as a men and women we have different roles. As a child, I obeyed my parents, but as an adult, I honor my parents. And in return they honor me, for example in personal convictions, or else it would be controlling.
This seems highly questionable. I would ask those of you who are satisfied with his answer to not simply accept it because it pleases you and rather search out more information because it strikes me as odd that out of all theologians and scholars who have translated and studied the language he seems to be the only person I find with this understanding of this passage.

Christ has therefore specified a role of submission for the women in the church. While this concept is highly unpopular in today’s culture, it is, nevertheless, His plan. Let us consider what the New Testament teaches in this regard. Women are called to “learn in silence with all submission” (1 Tim. 2:11). This emphasizes a spirit of attentiveness and receptiveness, which a woman of God has toward the male leaders in the church. The woman is not inferior to the man or of less worth or the target of discrimination, any more than Christ is inferior to God (cf. 1 Cor. 11:3). It is a matter of roles that have been assigned.
@janajaki2940 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: Romans 16:1 KJV The Bible specifically says that she was a servant. No where does it say that she's a deacon. A person can serve God in several ways, without being a bishop or a deacon.

Paul is simply instructing the married Corinthian women to ask their husbands questions at home rather than creating disorder by speaking out loud in church. Nothing superspiritual. Just practical instruction. Prophets speak in turn. Tongues and interpretation is done in turn. And the married women are meant to wait till they get home to ask their husbands a question rather than speak out loud to them in church. Can't get more basic than that!

Also there is no punctuation marks in the ancient languages. 1st Cor. 14::34-35 here Paul is quoting what the Corinthians wrote to him. The oral tradition has much to say about women keeping silent. In cor 11:3 the word man and women are used for husband and wife , you see if you read other translations of bible like esv or the youngs literal translation as the words man-husband and women-wife are written simalarly in koine greek. The context is this as christ is head of church so is man to his wife. Beacause when talking about the relationship between christ and his church its always in context of marrige. Many examples throughout the bible, We are called he bride of christ. The virgins with oil. In 2 cor paul himself clarifies this by saying "husbands love you're wife as christ loved the church and wives be subject to husbands in love". (Note: Not verbatum, from memory) So yeah in a context of marrige.

I am sure we could all agree that Jesus loved men as much as He loved women, and it is important to note that what Kris has said over the years in the thousands of sermons he has preached has been to the glory of God. I have listened to him from when I first became a Christian at the age of 19 up to present-day being 27. However, as I have grown over these many years in my walk with God, I have come to trust and understand His word with greater clarity. Kris' sermons have certainly played a significant role in teaching what the scriptures say, but I am surprised to see the following conclusions he came to in this video. Many Christians alike struggle with Pauline verses referring to male authority, but nonetheless, that doesn't make what Paul is saying untrue, especially since he affirmed that his message was not according to man, but through the revelation of Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11-12). Kris' take on the Corinthian passage does not make sense in light of 1 Timothy 2:12-14. I agree that this is yet another troublesome passage for some of us to read, but it is not in the Bible by accident, and if we choose to contextualise the verse accepting all of what Kris has said, in relation to past culture that was different from our own, we could do so, if it were not for verse 14. "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression." Now, I do not state this verse to rile anyone up, but again it is a single verse that changes the entire precedence for this passage. If male authority was contextual to the culture at the time, then why would Paul refer all the way back to The Garden, namely Adam and Eve?

Gnosticism was being taught, which teaches that the woman was formed first and that Adam was deceived first. Paul was simply correcting these false teachings. I recommend the book Hidden Voices - it blew my mind how misunderstood these verses are.

This is simply a false teaching. We want to be contemporary instead of obedient. Most people don't like it or want to obey what's written. Many will find any interpretation to avoid the truth.

There's the question of unmarried women, there is a hint given by Paul: Titus 2 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ³ The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; ⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. That is the area for aged women, teaching young (unmarried) girls. Now, in godly order NO WOMAN leaves her father and mother UNLESS given into marriage. This tells it all, that if such an unmarried woman has any question, she is still under the custody of her parents. That's where she is to ask. The problem we have nowadays is that we take our ungodly modern culture and try to reason it in scriptures. God said it is only a man who leaves his parents, picks a wife for himself not a woman leaving her parents for a job etc. Another way of viewing this is through Jesus' teachings. We are to copy Jesus in everyway a life. Jesus never appointed a woman to be an apostle. This is very significant rather than basing on play of words. The apostles nowhere did they appoint a woman to lead a congregation. Back to Paul: 1 Timothy 2 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ¹¹ Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. ¹² But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. >> if we apply the logic given by the preacher, then in the next verses we have this: ¹³ For Adam (THE HUSBAND) was first formed, then Eve (THE WIFE). ¹⁴ And Adam (THE HUSBAND) was not deceived, but the woman(THE WIFE) being deceived was in the transgression. >> You see how illogical it becomes? That a wife was deceived and not a husband!!? No way!! This is surely a general statement to all women, not wives. ¹⁵ Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. The last verse is now pointing to women's God given role, taking care of her home. She is to make sure that children grow up knowing God, because the husband is busy with ministry work. Compare this with Proverbs: “The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.” - Proverbs 10:1 (KJV) Amen
In the video above Kris twists Scriptures out of context and questions the very inspiration of the the Scriptures. If you want to view the Scriptures as being fallible and you reduce it to just men's opinion then we aren't of the same faith and I won't waste my time with people who treat the Bible as a book written by mere men. I'd have to first argue this subject before I could even begin to debate what the Scriptures teach, I will assume you accept the Scriptures in there original text were inspired by the holy spirit, correct? Kris claims that he doesn't believe that Paul would have written that phrase; "it is the law" because he says that there is no law that says that, and Paul, a student of the law would know better than to say that. Really? I've written an article where I go through all the Scriptures that show how a wife must submit to her husband and show she isn't to teach in the congregation. There is no Scriptural gymnastics that anyone can do to cloud this subject because it is extremely clear. It even says, just as Sarah submitted herself to Abraham. So how can Kris chose to argue that it should not be rendered wife but woman, only then to argue the whole passage should be dismissed as not making sense when you take the whole book into context (which I suggest you always take Scripture in context). Again, I answered this in the article. In Jesus Christ there is no difference between a Jew and a gentile between a male and a female, all are one (equal) before Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus taught that in heaven there won't be marriages etc... which is why Joel 2 and Acts 2 emphasized the change that took place after Christ, the Spirit was poured out on all flesh and this included sons and daughters. Yes, Miriam did prophecy via the Spirit but that was the exception not the norm. However, after Christ the gifts of the Holy Spirit were poured out on all flesh. In the old testament it was only males and then only special men and priests, prophets and kings and a rare exception that a woman received the anointing of the Spirit. Getting back to Kris who said Paul didn't write that because he knew the law didn't teach that. Teach what? What Paul is saying is that the Bible does teach that women are to be submitted to their husbands and then he qualified it in another place with; "like Sarah submitted to Abraham". And as Gen 3:16 says; "..your desire shall be for your husband, and he will rule over you..." No one interprets that as man shall rule over women, it's a husband shall rule over his wife. And that is what the OT taught. So Kris is absolutely wrong here and it is the beginning of a very dangerous precedent, he just made Scripture subject to mens interpretation and that it really isn't the Word of God that we can all count on. Why is he rejecting the Word of God? Because women today demand that they be treated equal and that they can be pastors too. But this remains contrary to what is taught in both the OT and the NT. And the NT never, let me repeat this, the NT never contradicts the OT! Jer 31 and Joel 2 prophecy what was coming. Notice the sermon on the mount in Matt 5, all the "laws" weren't negated. As Jesus said; "...I didn't come to abolish the law...." and "not one jot nor title shall be done away with until heaven and earth is done away with..." So Jesus didn't do away with the OT but instead He fulfilled it. Let me explain, circumcision was a sign of putting off the flesh. So Paul taught that if you were circumcised in the heart that it mattered not if you were circumcised in the flesh. Notice, Paul wasn't abolishing circumcision but revealing the real meaning of it. In other words, types and shadows all point to the real article. As I explain in the article I wrote, the role of the man is to be the head over the wife, the role of the wife is to bear children. Only today in our perverse society do men want to be equal in our roles and today transmen are wanting to compete with women. The roles given to men and women are radically different. Women can not be a father to their children, not because they aren't spiritually equal before God but because the role of fathering was given to males and not to women. It has nothing to do with equality at all. Husbands don't want to bear children and wives should not want to father their children. In the same way, spiritual father are not females, they are males by divine providence and to change this is to change the Scriptures, just as mothering is only possible by a mother/wife. A father or male can try to mother, perhaps with a little success but that role is given to the mother. No one can argue with this because it is 100% based on the Scriptures and isn't subject to men's opinions nor cultural trends.

The Greeks did not know the Torah/Jewish laws but they equally, like the Jews did not allow the woman to learn and be educated if you read about ancient Greek ways woman had no rights.
Women in the Jewish culture are very influential. Even to this day, if the mother is not Jewish then the children are not considered Jewish. In the Hebrew culture there were Women Judges, Women Prophets, and always the woman was the teacher in the house. Women were educated and protected within the culture and within the family. In the Greek Society there were gods who were women. Those that ministered to these female gods were women. So they were held in high regard in religious communities. Women were in business. They were both owner and artisan. It was common to see women business owners in Greek trading cities. Women were also allowed to own property in Greece. So I'm not certain what "rights" you are referring to.
First off, Paul is not God. Jesus is. And Jesus respected and honored women. The person who was entrusted to raise and teach the Son of God was a woman. Mary's role in Jesus' life didn't end at His birth. It began. And who did Jesus entrust with the most important announcement in the entire history of the world? It wasn't doubting Thomas, or Peter who had denied him three times, or James and John who requested special recognition above all others. It was Mary Magdalene, who was given the instructions to announce the resurrection of the Savior to the highest male authorities in the church. And they didn't believe her. Because culturally they did not respect women. Jesus could have appeared to the men first - but He didn't. He chose a woman. Secondly, the scripture of women keeping silent in the churches has led to incredible destruction and heartache for women and children. Men have used this scripture to oppress women - not just in the church but outside of the church as well. If women were supposed to be a help to men, then why didn't men allow them to help? God gave at least the equal amount of intelligence, creativity, talents, and spirituality to women as He gave to men, and did men use this to create a better world? Nope. Instead they treated women as slaves and objects. They raped them, sent their children to war, created more war, and more war, and more war which women had to fight in both on the field and at the home front. They prevented women from obtaining educations and skills to provide for their families. They forced them into prostitution. They sold women. They married children. They committed all manner of sins against women and girls while using the bible as justification for it. That is the fruit of this "scripture". Third - if women are supposed to be submissive to men, then men are to be submissive to God. When men are not submissive to God, then women need not listen to men since men are not following God. Have men been submissive to God? Nope. Not at all. See above. God does not expect women to follow men to hell. Therefore it is required that women speak up and lead the way to God since men are not doing it. Men have had thousands of years to get this right and they still refuse to. Fourth - John MacArthur's telling Beth Moore to "go home" was completely out of line. He has no jurisdiction over her. He is not her husband, or her pastor, or anyone with authority over her. And "go home" is equal to "shut up." When John gave a sermon answering his position on this, it was filled with venom towards women. Ignoring all the atrocities of men, he reduced women to gossipers, and declared that the worst thing that could happen to a woman is that she goes bald. She can be gang raped, have her home burned down and her children murdered, but as long as she has her hair, then the worst thing hasn't happened. Clearly a man who thinks that women's only concern is her appearance has no business telling women to go home and shut up. He should not be advising women in any way since he doesn't even care to understand them. Fifth - no one is forced to listen to a woman pastor. If you don't like women pastors, then you can go listen to male pastors who hate and disrespect women. You are free to do that. Sixth - this is a control issue. People who are upset about women pastors want to control what other people believe. That has never gone well. Wars have been fought over one group forcing another group to agree with them. Believe what you want to believe, and allow others to do the same. Leave it up to God.
"Let your (married) women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak (out loud); but they are to be submissive (to the others in the service), as the law also says, And if they want to learn something, let them ask THEIR OWN HUSBANDS AT HOME (not during the service); for it is shameful for (the married) women to speak (out loud) in church." That is all that Paul is saying!

God said women are not to preach in church. That is a command of the LORD. Just because you don’t agree with it doesn’t mean it’s not truth. Women are and always have been deceived. (Go read Genesis) they were created to be mama “helpers”. Because we were the ones deceived in the garden, God made it so that we would always seek and have a desire of control over men. The sooner you all figure that out, the sooner you will stop misunderstanding the Holy Word of God.
Your trying to take tradition in a church to say that 1 Timothy 2:12 is invalid. It has nothing to do with the women and men being separated but everything to do with biblical order and how God designed the church amd the family to be. I do believe that reading the Bible in context certainly gives women the right to minister and serve God with the gifts he has provided. A surface reading of "women ought to be silent" is fundamentally incompatible with the teaching in the very same letter (women should cover their heads while praying and prophesying), not to speak of the many women who shared in God's labor with Paul. However, this kind of untrue teaching is wrong, whether the reason is ignorance or deceitfulness. It seems that Kris Vallotton doesn't really know greek, and should therefore keep to the most reliable translations and commentaries, instead of "translating" something what he wished the text said! I mean, he did compare a large number of readily available english translations with how many translate man/woman instead of husband/wife, and that was 16/43 translations. How many of those would translate ἢ as "what" or "nonsense"? The answer is 0/43. Didn't he wonder why? And if he found the conjuction of logical disjuction (ἢ ) in the greek verse, did he not find that it occured twice in the same passage? _Or_ (ἢ )has the word of God gone out from you, _or_ (ἢ )has it come to you only? The second time ἢ appeared in the verse, Kris Vallotton seemed to happily translate it as "or", like all other translators, but why then would the first ἢ in the same verse be translated as "what", "nonsense"? It is regrettable that some people have so little faith in the Bible that they are willing to use lies and misinformation to tackle bad theology. Equally regrettable are the christians who are willing to follow this kind of sillyness, even when it is evidently false, because it makes them feel good. Please, have faith in the God who is revealed in the Bible!

Another two things that is incoherent is that Paul repeatedly used Old Testment scripture to drive several points so they at least had some knowledge of the Torah. Another thing is how are you going to say imperative when you mean expletive/exclamation. Write a manuscript and read the nonsense you're teaching people. If i were a atheist with basic literary knowledge and a decent ear I would heard 4-5 different inconsistencies and communicative errors.
Kris Vallotton.... I'm sorry sir but, you do not know a lick of Greek. I'm the equivalent to a first year Greek student and can tell you don't even know the Greek alphabet. (That little "n" thingy...) It's pronounced, 'a' (eta) and it's a conjunctive or it can be a disjunctive particle! In this case, 'or' is not at the end of the sentence, it's at the beginning of the next one. It marks a contrast to pose a question. Contrary to his assertion that nobody translates this and there's no perfect translation for it (yet Kris translates it as, "what"), a first year Greek student can and does and the Bible translators do, as well! Yes, the Greek word, γυναίκα means, universally, a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow. However, that doesn't give you license to exchange one meaning over another, just so you can twist it for your justification of what you practice in "church". The context of the whole sentence determines the meaning and in this case, it refers to a wife! It is telling when a preacher bends over backwards to twist the meaning of the scriptures into the exact opposite of what they actually teach, all in an attempt to justify what you practice in church and is clearly in defiance of scripture. There is so much false teaching and practices coming out of Bethel, it's hard to even call it "Christian"...

Once any group starts acting like the world, to increase its numbers and crowds, it has already lost the battle. Comprise a little here, be a little worldly and fleshly there. Diminish the light of the Gospel and lose some of the flavour of the salt. Add a little leaven to this part, surely it cannot hurt for the greater good. Love is our mantra. Let's be inclusive, we can attract the people. Let's not dare just teach doctrine, and call for repentance, conviction, a true change, and the bearing of fruit. No let's just have our feel-good experiences and emotions so we feel good about ourselves and those around us. Let us not offend anyone with truth - that will turn the crowds away. So let's just play loud music and jump up and down like the world does - after all, what is the difference between a "Christian" and the world? Any woman that desires or pursues positions of authority over men in church is obviously in a state of active rebellion against God, since in Genesis 3:16 God cursed the woman saying that her desires shall be after her husband and that he shall rule over her! Moreover, in the following verse, Genesis 3:17 God curses Adam explicitly saying that Adam is being punished because he had listened to the voice of his wife!!! Scripture is clear 100% that women cannot teach men in a church setting. Women have important roles to play in the body of Christ in other ways, and can of course teach other women or children if they are led to teach. If you don't understand this, then read the Bible and the whole counsel of God in context. If you can't get that right, you are little hope of getting more important issues right. Women teaching in churches is a significant sign of being in the last of the end of days. Read 2 Timothy 3 in particular " 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." This sums it up well. Sill women believing anything they hear, learning continuously in error, so miss the truth.

At 3:38 Kris literally lies about what something means in Greek. That is the Greek more meaning or, either. It is translated in every English version I have read as or. Often times when this verse is preached on, we are always taught to read it in it's context. However, as Kris does here, preachers often glance over the last few verses. Paul gives us the context of his preaching. He brings it back to the beginning of creation for the same reasoning Jesus brought it back to creation when asked if God permits divorce. They are revealing God's original purpose in his design of man and woman. Both equal and both with equal gifts, but different gifts.

Jesus Himself will be subjected to the Father (1Cor15:28). This in no way diminishes Jesus’ value and worth. Godly subjection doesn’t diminish value...it affirms it.
1 Timothy 2:12, in which Paul wrote, “ I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.” In this passage Paul placed a limitation on the involvement of women in positions of authority in the church. Again, notice the context surrounding the passage. This limitation is set in contrast to the functions of men, which included praying in the preceding section (1 Timothy 2:8) and serving in leadership positions in the succeeding section (1 Timothy 3:1-13). Thus, the speaking at issue in this passage is that which is representative, such as in congregational prayer, which is implicitly forbidden by the juxtaposition with instructions for men to pray, and that which is authoritative, which is explicitly forbidden in 1 Timothy 2:12 and evident from the juxtaposition with the male-oriented roles of elders and deacons in the following chapter. Thus, Paul’s instruction for women not to “teach or exercise authority over a man” in 1 Timothy 2 is specifically placing limitations on the involvement of women in positions of congregational representation or authority.

If anyone listens to false teachers in Bethel, they are just those who like their ears tickled. There is so much evidence, proof, and testimony of Bethel and their false doctrine, one does not have to research too hard to find it. Or for a good synopsis, just purchase the great book that came out in 2018 "Defining Deception" which is mostly focused on the practices of Bill Johnson and Bethel. We are not called to be peace makers and submissive to false doctrine, but are commanded by the word of God to call them out and depart from them. Exactly June, we are in the very end of the last days, and these false teachers (lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful in their special relationships with God, proud, and worse - having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof), need to be exposed, and anyhow worshiping their false doctrine needs to be warned. The same book you quote from is one of the books Paul wrote to Timothy about to warn of these false teachers, and those who will follow them - the scripture clearly talks of these silly women lead captive. Paul learned that certain men within the church were teaching false doctrines. Their probable position as leaders or elders in the church called for immediate action. Timothy was to command these individuals not only to stop teaching false doctrine but also to put an end to their speculative system of interpretation (= Bethel Church). False doctrines literally means "different doctrines" (compare 6:3), those that diverged from the accepted teaching of the Old Testament, Christ and the apostles (=Bethel church). The scriptures are clear we are to judge these false teachers and those who follow them. I don't have time or the space to teach the sermons you need to hear and don't live in USA. If you want to focus on only love, you have lost the battle already. Satan knows scripture better than any human does, we all now that. And uses false teachers on tap like those at Bethel: 2 COR 11: 14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. I know Kris personally, and I think he is mostly right here, but most of the church at the time of 1 Corinthians were Jewish Christians and members of the diaspora, or at least a large plurality. So the "asking their husbands in church" scenario is actually still entirely plausible.

I am not really into the feminist gospel as a female, nor do I believe the church should be dominated by men. We are equal as people, but we submit and honor one another. I guess it is more a gut thing for me, in terms of when it feels appropriate to speak and when not to...in any situation. And as a men and women we have different roles. As a child, I obeyed my parents, but as an adult, I honor my parents. And in return they honor me, for example in personal convictions, or else it would be controlling.

Also there is no punctuation marks in the ancient languages. 1st Cor. 14::34-35 here Paul is quoting what the Corinthians wrote to him. The oral tradition has much to say about women keeping silent. I am sure we could all agree that Jesus loved men as much as He loved women, and it is important to note that what Kris has said over the years in the thousands of sermons he has preached has been to the glory of God. I have listened to him from when I first became a Christian at the age of 19 up to present-day being 27.
However, as I have grown over these many years in my walk with God, I have come to trust and understand His word with greater clarity. Kris' sermons have certainly played a significant role in teaching what the scriptures say, but I am surprised to see the following conclusions he came to in this video. Many Christians alike struggle with Pauline verses referring to male authority, but nonetheless, that doesn't make what Paul is saying untrue, especially since he affirmed that his message was not according to man, but through the revelation of Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:11-12).
Kris' take on the Corinthian passage does not make sense in light of 1 Timothy 2:12-14. I agree that this is yet another troublesome passage for some of us to read, but it is not in the Bible by accident, and if we choose to contextualise the verse accepting all of what Kris has said, in relation to past culture that was different from our own, we could do so, if it were not for verse 14. "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression."
Now, I do not state this verse to rile anyone up, but again it is a single verse that changes the entire precedence for this passage. If male authority was contextual to the culture at the time, then why would Paul refer all the way back to The Garden, namely Adam and Eve?

There's the question of unmarried women, there is a hint given by Paul:
Titus 2 (KJV)

⁴ That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

That is the area for aged women, teaching young (unmarried) girls. Now, in godly order NO WOMAN leaves her father and mother UNLESS given into marriage. This tells it all, that if such an unmarried woman has any question, she is still under the custody of her parents. That's where she is to ask.
The problem we have nowadays is that we take our ungodly modern culture and try to reason it in scriptures. God said it is only a man who leaves his parents, picks a wife for himself not a woman leaving her parents for a job etc.
Another way of viewing this is through Jesus' teachings. We are to copy Jesus in everyway a life. Jesus never appointed a woman to be an apostle. This is very significant rather than basing on play of words. The apostles nowhere did they appoint a woman to lead a congregation.

In the video above Kris twists Scriptures out of context and questions the very inspiration of the the Scriptures. If you want to view the Scriptures as being fallible and you reduce it to just men's opinion then we aren't of the same faith and I won't waste my time with people who treat the Bible as a book written by mere men. I'd have to first argue this subject before I could even begin to debate what the Scriptures teach, I will assume you accept the Scriptures in there original text were inspired by the holy spirit, correct?
Kris claims that he doesn't believe that Paul would have written that phrase; "it is the law" because he says that there is no law that says that, and Paul, a student of the law would know better than to say that. Really?
I've written an article where I go through all the Scriptures that show how a wife must submit to her husband and show she isn't to teach in the congregation. There is no Scriptural gymnastics that anyone can do to cloud this subject because it is extremely clear. It even says, just as Sarah submitted herself to Abraham.
So how can Kris chose to argue that it should not be rendered wife but woman, only then to argue the whole passage should be dismissed as not making sense when you take the whole book into context (which I suggest you always take Scripture in context). Again, I answered this in the article. In Jesus Christ there is no difference between a Jew and a gentile between a male and a female, all are one (equal) before Jesus Christ. Just as Jesus taught that in heaven there won't be marriages etc... which is why Joel 2 and Acts 2 emphasized the change that took place after Christ, the Spirit was poured out on all flesh and this included sons and daughters.
Yes, Miriam did prophecy via the Spirit but that was the exception not the norm. However, after Christ the gifts of the Holy Spirit were poured out on all flesh. In the old testament it was only males and then only special men and priests, prophets and kings and a rare exception that a woman received the anointing of the Spirit.
Getting back to Kris who said Paul didn't write that because he knew the law didn't teach that. Teach what? What Paul is saying is that the Bible does teach that women are to be submitted to their husbands and then he qualified it in another place with; "like Sarah submitted to Abraham". And as Gen 3:16 says; "..your desire shall be for your husband, and he will rule over you..."
No one interprets that as man shall rule over women, it's a husband shall rule over his wife. And that is what the OT taught. So Kris is absolutely wrong here and it is the beginning of a very dangerous precedent, he just made Scripture subject to mens interpretation and that it really isn't the Word of God that we can all count on.
Why is he rejecting the Word of God? Because women today demand that they be treated equal and that they can be pastors too. But this remains contrary to what is taught in both the OT and the NT. And the NT never, let me repeat this, the NT never contradicts the OT! Jer 31 and Joel 2 prophecy what was coming.
Notice the sermon on the mount in Matt 5, all the "laws" weren't negated. As Jesus said; "...I didn't come to abolish the law...." and "not one jot nor title shall be done away with until heaven and earth is done away with..." So Jesus didn't do away with the OT but instead He fulfilled it.
Let me explain, circumcision was a sign of putting off the flesh. So Paul taught that if you were circumcised in the heart that it mattered not if you were circumcised in the flesh. Notice, Paul wasn't abolishing circumcision but revealing the real meaning of it. In other words, types and shadows all point to the real article.
As I explain in the article I wrote, the role of the man is to be the head over the wife, the role of the wife is to bear children. Only today in our perverse society do men want to be equal in our roles and today transmen are wanting to compete with women. The roles given to men and women are radically different. Women can not be a father to their children, not because they aren't spiritually equal before God but because the role of fathering was given to males and not to women. It has nothing to do with equality at all. Husbands don't want to bear children and wives should not want to father their children.
In the same way, spiritual father are not females, they are males by divine providence and to change this is to change the Scriptures, just as mothering is only possible by a mother/wife. A father or male can try to mother, perhaps with a little success but that role is given to the mother. No one can argue with this because it is 100% based on the Scriptures and isn't subject to men's opinions nor cultural trends.

The Greeks did not know the Torah/Jewish laws but they equally, like the Jews did not allow the woman to learn and be educated if you read about ancient Greek ways woman had no rights.
Women in the Jewish culture are very influential. Even to this day, if the mother is not Jewish then the children are not considered Jewish. In the Hebrew culture there were Women Judges, Women Prophets, and always the woman was the teacher in the house. Women were educated and protected within the culture and within the family.
In the Greek Society there were gods who were women. Those that ministered to these female gods were women. So they were held in high regard in religious communities.
Women were in business. They were both owner and artisan. It was common to see women business owners in Greek trading cities.
Women were also allowed to own property in Greece.

First off, Paul is not God. Jesus is. And Jesus respected and honored women. The person who was entrusted to raise and teach the Son of God was a woman. Mary's role in Jesus' life didn't end at His birth. It began. And who did Jesus entrust with the most important announcement in the entire history of the world? It wasn't doubting Thomas, or Peter who had denied him three times, or James and John who requested special recognition above all others. It was Mary Magdalene, who was given the instructions to announce the resurrection of the Savior to the highest male authorities in the church. And they didn't believe her. Because culturally they did not respect women. Jesus could have appeared to the men first - but He didn't. He chose a woman.
Secondly, the scripture of women keeping silent in the churches has led to incredible destruction and heartache for women and children. Men have used this scripture to oppress women - not just in the church but outside of the church as well. If women were supposed to be a help to men, then why didn't men allow them to help? God gave at least the equal amount of intelligence, creativity, talents, and spirituality to women as He gave to men, and did men use this to create a better world? Nope. Instead they treated women as slaves and objects. They raped them, sent their children to war, created more war, and more war, and more war which women had to fight in both on the field and at the home front. They prevented women from obtaining educations and skills to provide for their families. They forced them into prostitution. They sold women. They married children. They committed all manner of sins against women and girls while using the bible as justification for it. That is the fruit of this "scripture".
Third - if women are supposed to be submissive to men, then men are to be submissive to God. When men are not submissive to God, then women need not listen to men since men are not following God. Have men been submissive to God? Nope. Not at all. See above. God does not expect women to follow men to hell. Therefore it is required that women speak up and lead the way to God since men are not doing it. Men have had thousands of years to get this right and they still refuse to.
Fourth - John MacArthur's telling Beth Moore to "go home" was completely out of line. He has no jurisdiction over her. He is not her husband, or her pastor, or anyone with authority over her. And "go home" is equal to "shut up." When John gave a sermon answering his position on this, it was filled with venom towards women. Ignoring all the atrocities of men, he reduced women to gossipers, and declared that the worst thing that could happen to a woman is that she goes bald. She can be gang raped, have her home burned down and her children murdered, but as long as she has her hair, then the worst thing hasn't happened. Clearly a man who thinks that women's only concern is her appearance has no business telling women to go home and shut up. He should not be advising women in any way since he doesn't even care to understand them.
Fifth - no one is forced to listen to a woman pastor. If you don't like women pastors, then you can go listen to male pastors who hate and disrespect women. You are free to do that.
Sixth - this is a control issue. People who are upset about women pastors want to control what other people believe. That has never gone well. Wars have been fought over one group forcing another group to agree with them. Believe what you want to believe, and allow others to do the same. Leave it up to God.

God said women are not to preach in church. That is a command of the LORD. Just because you don’t agree with it doesn’t mean it’s not truth. Women are and always have been deceived. Your trying to take tradition in a church to say that 1 Timothy 2:12 is invalid. I do believe that reading the Bible in context certainly gives women the right to minister and serve God with the gifts he has provided. A surface reading of "women ought to be silent" is fundamentally incompatible with the teaching in the very same letter (women should cover their heads while praying and prophesying), not to speak of the many women who shared in God's labor with Paul.
However, this kind of untrue teaching is wrong, whether the reason is ignorance or deceitfulness. It seems that Kris Vallotton doesn't really know greek, and should therefore keep to the most reliable translations and commentaries, instead of "translating" something what he wished the text said! I mean, he did compare a large number of readily available english translations with how many translate man/woman instead of husband/wife, and that was 16/43 translations. How many of those would translate ἢ as "what" or "nonsense"? The answer is 0/43. Didn't he wonder why? And if he found the conjuction of logical disjuction (ἢ ) in the greek verse, did he not find that it occured twice in the same passage?

The second time ἢ appeared in the verse, Kris Vallotton seemed to happily translate it as "or", like all other translators, but why then would the first ἢ in the same verse be translated as "what", "nonsense"?
It is regrettable that some people have so little faith in the Bible that they are willing to use lies and misinformation to tackle bad theology. Another two things that is incoherent is that Paul repeatedly used Old Testment scripture to drive several points so they at least had some knowledge of the Torah. Another thing is how are you going to say imperative when you mean expletive/exclamation.

(That little "n" thingy...) It's pronounced, 'a' (eta) and it's a conjunctive or it can be a disjunctive particle! In this case, 'or' is not at the end of the sentence, it's at the beginning of the next one. It marks a contrast to pose a question. Contrary to his assertion that nobody translates this and there's no perfect translation for it (yet Kris translates it as, "what"), a first year Greek student can and does and the Bible translators do, as well!
Yes, the Greek word, γυναίκα means, universally, a woman of any age, whether a virgin, or married, or a widow. However, that doesn't give you license to exchange one meaning over another, just so you can twist it for your justification of what you practice in "church". The context of the whole sentence determines the meaning and in this case, it refers to a wife!
It is telling when a preacher bends over backwards to twist the meaning of the scriptures into the exact opposite of what they actually teach, all in an attempt to justify what you practice in church and is clearly in defiance of scripture. Diminish the light of the Gospel and lose some of the flavour of the salt. Add a little leaven to this part, surely it cannot hurt for the greater good. Love is our mantra. Let's be inclusive, we can attract the people. Let's not dare just teach doctrine, and call for repentance, conviction, a true change, and the bearing of fruit. No let's just have our feel-good experiences and emotions so we feel good about ourselves and those around us. Let us not offend anyone with truth - that will turn the crowds away. So let's just play loud music and jump up and down like the world does - after all, what is the difference between a "Christian" and the world? Scripture is clear 100% that women cannot teach men in a church setting. Women have important roles to play in the body of Christ in other ways, and can of course teach other women or children if they are led to teach. If you don't understand this, then read the Bible and the whole counsel of God in context. If you can't get that right, you are little hope of getting more important issues right. Women teaching in churches is a significant sign of being in the last of the end of days. Read 2 Timothy 3 in particular " 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." This sums it up well. Sill women believing anything they hear, learning continuously in error, so miss the truth.

The whole chapter should be read and studied out to gain the full context of this scripture. In part, John is writing about the Gospel they were eye witnesses to and knowing Jesus Christ (the Apostles and others). So, one of the critical points is to know the true Gospel, not a false one. Second, if one is truly a believer, John is saying such a person would show/demonstrate the love of God and obey Jesus' commands. So, what did John hear and see? 1 John chapter one refers to their walk with Jesus, before His death, burial and resurrection.
