It’s a joy to watch your videos.. My mobility has gotten worse over the past few years so it’s a challenge for me to get outside into my favourite nature reserves. With your films I feel like I’m exploring the wildlife there with you. thank you for bringing me on the journey.
Lovely video so peaceful and calming, just how being in nature should be. We're from deepest darkest Suffolk and our favourite rspb reserve is minsmere.
Oh dear, I'm embarrassed to admit that I was an RSPB member for a couple of decades without ever having heard of that site. But to combine photography with birdwatching on such a drab day means you are both obviously far more dedicated than I ever was. My favourite reserves in date order have been Rye House, Minsmere and Bempton Cliffs, with the latter probably the most hospitable as well as offering dramatic scenery and wonderful views. Thank you for the video, which rekindled a lot of interest for me.
Thank you Michael! We actually haven't been to any of the RSPBs you've listed so it sounds like we'll have to make sure we visit them! We'd absolutely love to visit Bempton Cliffs so perhaps we'll have to do a video there 😀 Pulborough Brooks is definitely worth a visit if you're ever down in Sussex 🙂
@@AWilderLife I was actually planning a drive down to Rye and possibly Dungeness, but your part of the world would be completely unfamiliar to me and it looks lovely. Both Minsmere and Bempton Cliffs are fantastic reserves, but Rye House was only mentioned because it was nearest to my home when I started birdwatching. But you are sure to have fun wherever you go, being so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject.
Great video I’ve only just been to Pulborough Brooks and was surprised with so many raptors including the white tailed eagle and that’s in my last video 👍🏼
Nice one Chris! Sounds like a great day at PB especially when the WTEs are there! We're hoping to get back there again soon and hopefully they'll be there 🦅
Wonderful variety of bird life! The Lapwing (aka Peewit and Green Plover) is one of my absolutely favourite birds and sadly not around in such great numbers these days. Their flight patterns are spectacular, especially when half folding a wing and tumbling earthwards, and their distinct calls which gave rise to the Peewit name. I used to spend a lot of time watching them over the fields of Shugborough Estate in Staffordshire near where I lived. They and Terns mesmerise me when they're airborne.
We love a Lapwing too Paul! Watching them do their displays is incredible. Completely agree on Terns too, we don't see enough of them so we'll have to go and find more! 😀
Ah thank you so much and so glad you enjoyed it! Yes the flooding has been pretty intense this year, hoping it will settle down and we can enjoy the dawn chorus there in a few weeks!
Wow what a great variety of birds for one location. Watching a peregrine hunt is so intense. They scare everything nearby 🤣 . Love the long tailed tit and robin. Great video !!
I appreciate you putting the names of the various birds that you film it does make it more interesting knowing what i am watching and helps me to identify when I am out.
Some great shots and clips - I'm still waiting to photograph my first bullfinch, I've heard a couple in my local woods, along with an even more elusive lesser spotted woodpecker, but not seen one to photograph. I really must visit more RSPB reserves and Pulborough Brooks is only 90 minutes away - your video has just persuaded me!
Thank you so much Phil! Seeing the bullfinch was a real highlight, if you're in the Sussex area we've also seen them at Warnham Nature Reserve. Will keep everything crossed you get to photograph one soon! 👍
Our favourite RSPB reserves are Pagham Harbour and Medmerry. Medmerry has avocets and I have never seen so many frogs in one place in my life. Pagham has a good variety of habitats and a wide variety of birds and is so pretty. It has terns nesting on a shingle beach (closed to the public so they can nest in peace but you can view it from a path the other side of the water channel). They also had curlews, Oyster Catchers and Red Shanks. It is not too far from Itchenor where you can take a boat trip out to see both Harbour and Grey Seals.
Wow Medmerry sounds great Fiona, we've never been there before. We've done Pagham Harbour before and loved it, it's a little bit of a drive for us but a wonderful day out for sure! Sounds like we'll have to go again to do the boat trip and also visit Medmerry! 😀
Whilst not new to photography, I am definitely new to wildlife photography and your videos have been very inspiring. RSPB Pulborough is also close to me and now at the top of my list of reserves to visit. Thank you both.
Thanks Brian! Pulborough Brooks is definitely worth a visit for sure, we personally think its absolute best time of year is spring so between late March and May/June is the perfect time to visit! 😀
Great video. I do love Pulborough, went there last winter and was lucky enough to see 3 White-tailed eagles, which decided to have a bit of a tussle, about a mile away over the scrape (I was at the centre) but they are so big I still got some ok footage! This video has reminded me I need to get back there
Thank you so much Neil! Saw your wonderful footage of them from last year and really hoping we can catch them there again one day to get some footage! 🦅
So nice to see signs of spring! Not yet for us in the northern USA. It will be a few weeks before our migrating birds start returning in numbers. I really enjoy your channel, and can’t wait to see more of your outings! I always learn something from watching! Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you Kelly that's very kind! 😀 We can't wait for spring to fully arrive and we're hoping to get back to Pulborough Brooks for its amazing dawn chorus. Hope you get some amazing views of wildlife in the next few weeks as things start to liven up!
Thank you so much Sean! My regular go-to tripod head I've used in nearly all our videos is the Manfrotto XPRO Fluid Head, I believe the model number is MHXPRO-2W but I've got a feeling they've got a newer one as I've had this one for about 6 years now! It might be worth checking because mine doesn't accept Arca-Swiss, it's got a special quick release plate that comes with it so if you've got Arca-Swiss plates or lens feet it might be worth looking at the newer one. I'm actually using a spare Neewer one in this video because I left my tripod at my parents whilst I was visiting them 😅
8:23 I am sure that everyone watching this video knows that daffodils are of little or no benefit to pollinators, they look okay though. Are they of benefit in some other way? I am only a beginner and I know little or nothing about biodiversity etc.
You're absolutely right on the daffodils, they're not the best for wildlife, bees will only really use them if there's nothing else around so there are other spring bulbs that are a lot more beneficial such as Winter Aconite, Snowdrops, and then a bit later things like Snake’s Head Fritillary, Bluebells (the native ones, not the Spanish Bluebell) and Wild Garlic. That being said, we still love to see the daffodils around as they're nice to enjoy looking at and a sign that spring is on the way! 😀

Thank you so much Rose, we're so pleased you enjoy them and hoping we can make some more videos very soon. Best wishes!
I love it. The channel is evolving. Great information on the birds, and also the management of ground cover of scrub, brambles and thorns.
Thank you so much Brett that's very kind! 😊

What nature days out are all about 😜
Wonderful footage, but you desperately need sunlight … like we do here in Belgium. Another great video! J’adore!
Thank you so much, you're absolutely right we are very keen for the sunshine to come back 😅 hopefully it won't be long now! 🤞☀️
What a lovely video! Definetly putting Pulborough Brooks on my bucket list for when I visit the UK :)
Thank you so much Lluís! So pleased you liked the video 😀 It's definitely worth a visit!
Very nice chilled video to watch to end Sunday. Pulbrough is my local waiting for the flooding to go down a bit. Thank you

Wow what a great variety of birds for one location. Watching a peregrine hunt is so intense. They scare everything nearby 🤣 . Love the long tailed tit and robin. Great video !!
Thank you so much Ivan! We'd love to try and film a peregrine hunting! I think this one was just spending time enjoying the view 😅
I appreciate you putting the names of the various birds that you film it does make it more interesting knowing what i am watching and helps me to identify when I am out.
Thank you so much Loz! Great to know that the names are useful! we'll keep adding them (when we're close enough to know what we're looking at! 😀)
Now I don't feel bad eating chocolate, I can say its as healthy as ivy 😝
Haha it's the perfect excuse! 😆
Another great video, well thought out and so informative. You two work so well together. Keep the vids coming. Take care.
Thank you so much Laurie! 😀

Nice result spotting the bullfinch. My favourite and local rspb reserve is rspb Rainham marshes.
Thanks Nick! We haven't been to Rainham Marshes before but we'll definitely have to add it to our list of places to visit! 😀
Beautiful, informative, well presented video, well done!
Thank you so much 😊

Lovely. One of my regular haunts, just a few days ago I videoed a Water-Pipit there at the Westmead Hide.
Thank so much Brian! Just seen your lovely video with the water pipit, great work!
@@AWilderLife Many thanks, glad you liked it.
Another brilliant informative video Loving your work ladies, keep up the good work
Thanks for another great video. Just subscribed.
Thank you so much and thank you for subscribing! 😀
